Top Hat Movers

I don't have enough positive things to say about Robert and his team. I moved within Manhattan, out of a 6th floor apt elevator building into a 5th floor walk-up. It was my first 'real move' so I was pretty anxious, but Robert made the whole process amazingly easy. From the beginning, he was responsive, courteous, and pleasant to work with.

He answered all of my questions and was transparent at every step of the process. On the day of, he and his team were right on time - even a little early! They had the whole move done in 3.5 hours flat, with everything perfectly moved and nothing damaged. I could not have had a better moving experience if I tried, and I have Robert and his team to thank for that. Top Hat Movers is worth every penny!

I am wayyyy late to this review and sorry for that to the guys! I moved from bedstuy to Greenpoint on April 1 out of 3rd floor and into a complicated 3rd floor. Robert was amazing! Super personable and funny, doesn't wear out his guys or overbook them so you're getting Everyone at their best. Heads up I have an insane amount of furniture and stuff, much of it very heavy.

He scheduled a generous number of movers--7 I think? Plus himself driving. They finished my entire move (drive included) in four hours. Incredible. Everyone in high spirits and chill. We prepared heavily in advance and packed really efficiently. He did some FaceTime with me ahead of the move to tour my space and try and appropriately quote me. We hit it right on the head maybe a little less.

It was also extremely reasonable considering what I had. My boyfriend moved from within blocks of the new place also in Greenpoint (out of a first floor and into a third floor with wayyy less stuff) and was charged almost $1000 more and his move took ages. His movers got into fights with the neighbors it was like night and day. Overall I can see why top hat has all repeat customers!

This was my very first time hiring a moving company, Robert was fantastic. I would rehire them again for myself if I decided to move again. They deserve any incentives the company may offer to those that do such a great job. Thank you guys again!

Robert and his crew were incredible for our move within Brooklyn during the pandemic. He was communicative with me throughout the process, offering kind instruction about how best to prepare for the day of the move. He was clear, offered a great quote, and worked to accommodate all of our needs. Because of the heat and mask requirements, Robert recommended adding another worker to the assigned job. I'm so glad he did! He was right about calling for a bigger team. They did the job in four hours and the total price was super reasonable. I definitely recommend working with Top Hat Movers!

We were moving from Chicago and needed a mover to unload our rental truck. Robert, the owner, made the sign up process very easy and we made our deposit through Venmo. Unfortunately, we were delayed leaving Chicago and it looked like we wouldn't make it to Brooklyn for the scheduled unloading. We called Robert the evening before and he was incredibly flexible in accommodating our delay.

Once we arrived, his team of movers was right on it and they were great. They were done in two hours and everything was right where we asked. If we move again - and hopefully not soon! - we will definitely call Top Hat!

I don't remember how we found THM back in 2010 when they moved us into our first apartment, but when it came time to move again this year into our new space a few miles away in Brooklyn, we knew who to call. Robert came by ahead of time to evaluate our apt, drop off some bins for us to pack in, and scheduled six movers. They showed up ahead of time and got right to work.

In little more than 4 hours, they completely moved everything out of our fourth-floor walk up apartment into the truck, drove, and unloaded everything (without damage to the building or materials) into our new apartment. They were all polite, prompt, and worked hard without complaint - wrapping up what needed wrapping and got it done. And for such a reasonable cost! Robert was easy to communicate with and we're so glad they were there for us when we needed them. Couldn't be happier.

These guys just moved our daughter to a new apartment. They are the best movers that I have ever dealt with. They were courteous, efficient, and extremely professional. The move went like clockwork If you are moving in Brooklyn, you must use Top Hat or settle for less than the best

Don't waste your time using anyone else. Robert and his crew have moved us twice and if perfection exists it is Top Hat Movers. Robert maintains close communication and leaves nothing to chance. His crews are super nice and careful. If you want the best use Top Hat! Shalom.

These guys are FANTASTIC! Robert and his team are good people, helped us tremendously with our move, courteous, fast, clean. We had a great move experience (which is saying a LOT for a naturally stressful situation) thanks to Top Hat. And their use of large plastic bins instead of cardboard boxes works wonderfully. Nothing but good things to say about Top Hat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Robert and his team were fantastic and I'd have no problem recommending Top Hat Movers. I was moving to Brooklyn from Oklahoma City, OK, in Nov. 2018 and found Top Hat here on Yelp. Robert was lighting fast in getting back to me after I reached out and he was very helpful in making sure I knew what to expect. Payment was done through Venmo and Robert was good about making sure we had a written agreement in place before I made my deposit.

The crew was kind, curious, and quick. They had my 16 rented moving truck unloaded into my new place in just under an hour. Again, they were great to work with and I'd have no problem singing their praises.

We had a fantastic experience with Robert and his team. They moved us from a 4th floor walk-up to a garden apartment about 13 blocks away in 2 and a half hours. Our start time was 8:30am and at 8:28am our bell was rung. The movers were extremely efficient, careful and checked in with us when they had questions. They wrapped everything with shrink wrap and reinforced the corners of furniture with tape. Robert emailed a lot of the paperwork ahead of time including the rates, suggested gratuities, policy options on IKEA particle board etc.

I really appreciated this because when moving day came it felt like a whirlwind, but we felt that we were in good hands with Top Hat. Robert even stopped by a week before to look at the job ahead, scope out the parking/width of the street etc. He was also a big joker! Great experience and would recommend them, the reviews speak for themselves.

This was hands down THE BEST moving experience I have had. Wow. I've been in the city 6 years and have moved out 3 times prior to this move. No other experience comes close to this. From communicating with Robert before hand who was so helpful and giving us suggestions that would make the move more smooth to Robert checking in during the move via text to make sure we were happy and it was going well to the efficiency, professionalism and overall great attitude of the guys.

They performed this move with such a great sense of ease. There was no room for stress. Just so happy! It began to rain as we they were moving our stuff into the front door. Every bit of furniture (and boxes) stayed dry and in excellent shape. I never though moving in the city could make me this happy/energized Highly recommend to anyone! Just thank you!

As someone who is cautious to a fault, I am generally a bit paranoid and high intensity when it comes hiring (and trusting) strangers with my belongings. After getting several quotes from different movers in Brooklyn, I found Top Hat Movers on Yelp. Wanting to know a little more, I accepted Robert's invitation to come to my apartment to scope out my belongings for my move from Park Slope to Brooklyn Heights.

To say that Robert is a character would be a wild understatement, but he is enthusiastic and sincere if nothing else. We chatted for a while, and he put me at ease, and I decided to cancel my quote with another company and take the Top Hat plunge. As many other reviewers have said, Robert reached out the day before and the day of to make sure things were going smoothly. Juan, his foreman, arrived with his crew the morning of my move, and handled everything perfectly.

In fact, they went above and beyond when my new furniture delivery showed up at the same time, and they helped get the new items up a very narrow hallway to my fifth story walk-up. Thank-you Robert and team. I will happily use Top Hat if and when I move again.

Robert and his team are truly professionals that help ease the stress of moving. We moved from Brooklyn to SoCal in the week between Xmas and New Year's and hired Top Hat Movers to help load our stuff into the truck my husband rented (my husband also drove our stuff cross country because we wanted to avoid the extreme pain and hassle of cross-country movers). Robert came to look at our place and our storage unit to give us the estimate.

He also provided advice on how to pack our things to best protect things for a long distance move since we were doing our own packing. In addition, based on his assessment of the volume of things that needed to be moved, he advised us to get a 22-foot truck instead of a 26-foot or 16-foot one. His estimate was spot on, the 22-foot truck fit all of our stuff and we had a little extra room to bring things that we weren't sure would fit. Robert's team came a few days in advance to wrap all the furniture and wall hangings that we didn't need before move day so that the actual move would go more quickly and smoothly.

And they came a few days later to actually load everything in the truck. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out, nothing was dropped or scratched or broken in loading or in the almost 3,000 mile drive. Throughout the process Robert was completely transparent about the pricing and how much he thought the job would cost. I wouldn't hesitate to strongly recommend Top Hat Movers to anyone who needs movers, either for end-to-end in-town or to help load or unload a truck. Robert and his guys know what they're doing, treat their client's belongings like their own, and are pleasant to work with. I only wish I had found them before, for my previous moves within NYC.

I found Top Hat Movers via Yelp and decided to use them for my move given their stellar reviews. They did NOT disappoint! Robert and his team moved my belongings seamlessly from one apartment to the next in two hours flat. They took great care with everything - not one thing lost or damaged. The pricing was clearly explained before the move took place, and Robert went above and beyond to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Moving is an extremely stressful event and Top Hat Movers really took care of me and made the experience pretty stress-free. Extremely happy with their services. If I could leave 10 stars I would! Moving in the city can be an absolute nightmare of an experience, and I definitely experienced that before. But Robert from Top Hat provided the most wonderful, hard working reliable crew I could have asked for. Don't cut costs here guys! This company is absolutely worth every penny! And I'm a grad student, so that's saying something! They were so responsible and so thorough----can't say enough good things! : Very highly recommend! Thank you again guys!

I highly recommend Top Hat Movers, and would work with them again! What should I say - we could not be happier! Robert's crew where the most professional movers we ever worked with. We engaged a couple of different movers in the past 10 years, incl. movers in other countries (Germany) None of them were as prompt and courteous ad the guys from Top Hat Movers.

We had not ONE SINGLE damage or scratch. We moved a 2 beds with furniture and 50+ boxes (incl. lots of larger kids toy items). ALL furniture was packed into heavy moving blankets. No single screw got lost. Rate is perfectly fine and transparanet for the quality we got. Moving crew was experienced, professionally equipped, worked in perfect speed, yet had the extra time for some little chat here and there. All in all, moving is a stressful PITA - with the help from Robert's team, we had a pefect start into our new place! Thanks!

Top Hat Movers are awesome! We recently moved from an upstairs apartment to the downstairs apartment within the same Park Slope townhouse. While this seemed like an easy move, Top Hat's crew treated it like we were moving to another state. Our belongings were carried downstairs with the utmost care. Furniture was wrapped, electronics were padded and protected, etc.

The best part was that Top Hat provided us with big plastic bins to move our things so that we didn't have to assemble and disassemble a ton of boxes for our move. Robert couldn't have been more helpful. I emailed him many times throughout the process and my correspondence was always met with a fast reply. The three hours we were quoted for the move ended up being more like 2 1/2 hours.

The crew that he sent were awesome. They were great, funny guys and totally respectful of our needs. We're hoping that we won't have to move again for a long time. But if we do, we know who we will call. Thanks Top Hat!

I got moved from Fort Greene to Chinatown in 1 hour and 15 minutes, from Andre showing up with the truck to leaving with the truck, all goods accounted for. Apparently Robert also has a unicycle act, and I will definitely request his services the next time I'm having a birthday party.

Easily our best moving experience to date. We moved cross country. Top Hat met us at our pod facility, loaded up the truck, and then hauled our stuff up a fourth floor walk up. They were professional, friendly, and fast. Also their rate was quite reasonable, if not a downright bargain -- and Robert was very clear about the rate and tip amount upfront, which was very appreciated. They accept credit card, though better to tip in cash. I would use them again and certainly recommend them to friends.
