Moving Ahead

My last review was removed after the company reached out to correct a tremendous error on their behalf - arriving with a too small truck for a 500 mile move, resulting in significant inconvenience to us (having to scramble to rent a large Uhaul trailer, paying for the trailer and gas to tow 2,500lbs and moving and hauling furniture with just one other person from their company as the other hired hands left).

We also had damages to several pieces of furniture/property resulting from poor wrapping/protection/general lack of care--we even bought several blankets/bubble wrap/etc at our own expense, but it wasn't used properly. We were told multiple times that the process for reimbursement for our property damages was completely separate from what we were going through for the other issues.

But lo and behold, once we agreed to remove our reviews and accept our reimbursement, our claim through the "completely separate" third party was filed as complete, with no payment for the damages (initially estimated at over $800 by this third party.) Now, no one from the company will answer or return our phone calls, and we have been left to deal with the damages. The glowing reviews are great until you're the one with damaged property and a terrible experience, and no one to answer for it.

I have quotes from them two separate times. Overpriced! I went with other business because it would have been too much.

The office staff was courteous in setting up the move, as well as updates as the move day approached. The moving crew (Tony and Louie) were courteous, hardworking, and very efficient in our local move. They took excellent care with wrapping and moving our furnishings with no damage to either the furniture or the houses. It was obvious that they've worked as a coordinated team when moving large or heavy items.

Also due to a lot of unstackable items, Tony had the expertise to know, request, and then bring a larger moving truck (than was originally scheduled) which proved to be necessary by the end of the loading (i.e., the truck was full). I would highly recommend them to anyone needing moving services.

And responsiveness from the start were top notch. Our local move within Cincinnati went very smooth. Would highly reccomend and would use again!

I felt very comfortable working with them from the moment I inquired about our move. Great experience from start to finish.

Overall very courteous with a since of drive and completion. In saying that I am missing a lamp and a piece to one of my beds. Not sure if they were left in the truck or not but overall the movers were great.

I used this company services for my recent move on 1/31 and they where fantastic. Jordan and TJ came on time and they were quick. I was so stressed out about my move, because I wasn't sure we'd be done on time. However, the guys were great! They had to climb up and down 3rd floors carrying very heavy storage bins. My bf and I did our best to be helpful and organized. But, they didn't need us lol!

They were so professional and knew how to quickly move things. Luckily, the apartment that I moved to was on the 1st floor. The only thing I'd say as a complaint, is that the dispatch had issues with being available to take payment. They had everything moved into my place on time, but dispatch was in a meeting and the movers couldn't get a hold of them.

I felt so bad for them because they had another move to get to. I'd definitely advise that a line of communication remain open for the movers out on the road. It puts them in a difficult situation when that occurs. Nonetheless, I was still able to only pay the flat rate for the first 2 hours which I appreciated and they were very professional about it. Also, when I set up my appointment to move the customer service reps were also very professional and helpful too.

They made sure to confirm everything and answered any questions I had. I highly recommend them to anyone, anytime, and any place! Thanks Moving Ahead for making my move less stressful!

Expert people to help you move. Professional. Respectful and hard worker. They work with you to keep you happy and pleased. They deserve every penny they got.

I used these movers back in October or end of September and I had three movers. the move seemed okay but, my contents was put in storage. I own a 55inch Toshiba television, one of the movers was packing the television in a box. I asked him several times what did he do with my cords and the remote. He indicated that the cords would be placed inside the box with the television.

I did not get my belongings out of storage until three months later. the cords was not attached to the television nor the remote control. I just bought that television. The young man told me that's where the cords would be inside the box with the television. He took the cords from the old television and placed it in the box with the new television the cords to the new television was not where he said they would be.

I am sure that they took my items. The movers overall did a good job, I just think that the one mover took my cords, screws and remote control. I contacted their offices it was like they did not care.

Anthony and Jordan moved all my things in just under two hours! I have 60 stairs and they were running up and down them. They were professional and efficient.

WOULD NOT recommend. The movers took their time and would go missing for 30 minute increments. The maintenance man of the apartment noticed them slowly getting the job done and mishandling the furniture, which is convenient for them since they were paid at an hourly rate. One apartment move to go down the block took 5 full hours. A move that could have taken two.

Multiple pieces of furniture damaged. Did not set up any of the furniture and left the couch in the main lobby of the apartment building. For the hourly rate they were charged, they were not worth. Go somewhere else if you are looking for a quick convenient move.

One star is too many! They lost a box and caused few thousand dollars damage to property and belongings while charging a premium for their services. Bless their hearts! I would have received better service with less damage and expense from teenagers with no moving experience. Let's see if they at least pay for the damage they caused!

Used these movers 6 months ago and continue to think about the poor experience we had. Inefficient and overpriced. They broke a window to our house and offered $20 and told me to "Go to Home Depot." I called to discuss this with the company and they did not seem concerned. We will not use this company again and I recommend you look elsewhere also.

Awful company that doe not take responsibility for its own errors. Showed up with a truck far to small for our belongings, despite doing an in-home assessment of everything in our house weeks before the scheduled move. Our belongings were improperly protected and put in carelessly in efforts to save space. They "ran out" of moving blankets and wrap, and several pieces were not protected at all.

I drove to Uhaul to pay for more items, but by the time I had returned, they had shoved our items in the truck without protection, and did not take anything out to actually protect it. Their solution for our lack of space was to rent a larger trailer than the small one we already had rented for our houseplants and things that couldn't go in the truck.

This involved us returning the original trailer, and then driving to pick up the other trailer. This process took HOURS out of our day. By the end, our belongings still barely fit, and we were left to load the trailer ourselves with one other person, as the other 2 movers left hours earlier. Luckily, we are both young and fit, so we were able to haul and load furniture.

But had that not been the case, how the heck would have our items made it on the trailer? We certainly hadn't planned on paying $7,000 for movers to end up doing some of the physical labor ourselves. When we finally made it to our new home, we were disappointed to see that several of our items were significantly damaged by sheer carelessness on the part of the movers - wood furniture items were dented, scratched, chipped.

Metal shelves were bent and scraped, and our 5-piece sectional sofa was ripped in several places. I understand that this company has many excellent reviews, which is what made me feel comfortable with trusting them with our move in the first place. But from personal experience, all of those other reviews matter very little when your own experience is absolutely terrible, and results in excessive costs and damaged property.

Great experience - I chose moving ahead based primarily on online reviews and was not disappointed! Adrian, Ron, and TJ we're excellent day of movers - very courteous, hard working, and went way above what I expected. I would hire them again without a doubt. The office was also very helpful, friendly, and responsive!

My movers were awesome, efficient, professional, and fast. They were friendly and thoughtful with asking me questions. They were the best movers I've had so far and I really appreciated the work that they did for my move. It was a great experience. This company moved me twice this year - from the apt to storage and from storage to my new place. Moving sucks but they made it as smooth as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to request their services again. Ask for Adrian, Keeshon and/or Austin. They made it happen. #rockstars

I've moved a lot in my life, and you can really get screwed over with lousy moving companies. Moving Ahead was definitely the best service I've ever used. Roy and Dustin did a fantastic job. Quick, high quality, and very friendly. They were great at noticing the fine details, to make it as easy for me as possible. That's importance considering moving is high stress, particularly as a single woman. Highly recommended.

The guys did an absolute amazing job. They were quick, efficient and they took care of every single piece they moved. I couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to move us. If I could give more stars I would.

Easy to schedule, great communication. The team called ahead and arrived on time. They we're efficient, respectful, and did a wonderful job moving heavy. They took great care with out items and our house. I will use them again!

I would definitely recommend Moving Ahead to everyone. Adrian and Steve took great care of wrapping my furniture and asking questions about where I wanted things placed in my new apartment. Used Moving Ahead Services to move all big furniture from our 2 bedroom condo to a new house. We were originally quoted for a 7-9 hour move with 3 movers, but the job ended up taking 3.5 hours with only 2 movers! Saved tons of money off the original quote as a result. The 2 guys who came out did a fantastic job to protect our furniture & communicate with me throughout the entire move. Would highly recommend!

Moving Ahead was a wonderful service! I loved from a 1 bedroom apartment to a condo and it was a smooth transition. I was called when they were on their way and was kept updated about progress as they were moving. I had a table that had a broken leg and they offered to fix it before moving. So kind! Everything was run by me about where it needed to go. It really made a very stressful move - so easy! Both movers were very friendly and professional. I would absolutely recommend to a friend!

Service was really good. They were easy to work with, accommodated some of my landlord's quirky requirements, and had good communication. The movers were very professional, quickly wrapping all the furniture and carefully moving it to the truck. I had only one complaint, which was a billing issue where I was charged the minimum move charge twice, once for the loading and again for the unloading. When I inquired about it they quickly responded that it was a mistake and corrected it with no issue. Overall, a good experience.

I have never had a business be more true to the reviews! They were amazing! Everyone was so nice, polite and willing to help. They were so efficient and helpful. They even forgot a few things and when I called about it, they fixed it right away. The crew that came back to get the remaining items was just as nice as the first! Props to them for hiring so many great employees! I am referring them to everyone!

We used them for a local move; we mainly had them help with the big furniture pieces. They were very professional- they called the day prior to confirm the moving details, called again when they were on their way, and showed up on time. They were very understanding of our clutter and half-packed chaos. The movers were very polite and efficient. The final price was close to the quote we received. Overall, we were very happy with our experience with Moving Ahead.

We had an excellent experience with Moving Ahead Services. Anthony and his team were efficient, professional, and accommodating. We had a few unforeseen events occur, and the team was more than willing to work with us. We never felt worried for our belongings because they handled them with such care. They are not the cheapest company, but certainly worth the money. We were very happy with our move with them. 100% would use again, we have recommended them to our friends already.

Brandon and Jameson did an excellent job moving me from Cuyahoga Falls to Canton for exactly what was quoted. Wrapped everything very well and nothing was damaged. Also extremely happy with how fast and willing to get the job done quickly, yet correctly. I highly recommend and will be using them again! Thank you

For reference I moved from a one bedroom apartment on the second floor (that had a service elevator) to a three bedroom, multi-family home on the second floor. The move took a total of 6 hours. I'm not sure if that's reasonable given the size of my apartment or the amount of furniture I have, but I feel like that's quite a long time to move a one bedroom apartment.

I noticed that one trip to load the truck took an unusually long time, so I went to check and I saw the movers chatting with a maintenance worker. I'm not sure how long they had been chatting or if the movers took breaks like that throughout the loading of the truck, but I was disappointed. Once the truck was loaded (a total of three hours after they arrived), I was to meet them at my new place.

I was told they would stop and grab a bite to eat, but that would be deducted from my total. Once they arrived, there was some trouble getting the truck into the driveway. During the process, the driver managed to bump into the gutter on the side of the house, causing damage (which I will be contacting them about Monday morning). A neighbor was kind enough to move his car so the truck could fit, then they unloaded the truck.

I didn't notice any unusually long trips, but it took them a total of three hours to unload the truck. When I received my final bill, there was no mention of a deduction of time for the food they did (or didn't) stop for. I received no confirmation that they stopped on the way or drove straight to the house. All in all, my items are moved.

I wish it hadn't taken so long or that there would've been a third person to help. I'm disappointed that it cost so much and took such a long time, especially when I was only quoted for the 2 hour minimum and the movers were quoted 2-4 hours.

Horrible service. Will never hired them or recommend them again, there are way better services out there for same price.

Don't even think about it. I had them quote on moving a one bedroom apt and a small house with similar furnishings. No refrigerators stoves or laundry the bid was $900. They started ok and had all the apartment furniture packed well in the back of truck by 11:30. Then they took a "lunch break" at 2:30 they showed me a truck with boxes all over the floor but noon were stacked.

They said they would unload the truck and then do the house. I knew this was going bad. So we drove to Akron and they slowly and in a poor way unpacked. They asked me where to put the microwave? Then they said they left all the screws at the apartment? I went and they weren't there so my furniture table etc aren't assembled and nothing is in the right place.

At 6:30 they were done and gave me s bill of $1385. The 7 hours at 120 would have been bad enough but should be $840. But their charge was obscene for Half the job. A man called on Monday to schedule the rest of the job and I told him what had happened and he said he would try to get things rectified. I never heard another word. It's clear to me they take no responsibility for their estimates their people or their work. If I move again I'll use a professional mover.

FIVE STARS.! 100% A+.! This was the second time we used Moving Ahead Services. We worked with Damien, Marcus, and Jerome. The guys were punctual, professional, and friendly. They showed up right on time with cheerful attitudes and went right to work. They took especially good care of our belongings, carefully removing everything from the warehouse, we had are things stored in, and placing them into their moving truck.

Once they arrived at our new home, they thoughtfully laid down protective mats to protect the frames of our doors and our floors. They offloaded everything from the truck and ensured they knew exactly where we wanted each box, and belonging, to go. They expertly moved our extremely heavy Tempur-Pedic bed, and ensured that things were kept from touching the walls, or scuffing up anything.

They worked quickly, and were perfect. I wholeheartedly recommend Moving Ahead Services, and would reach back out to Damien, Marcus, and Jerome next time we move. Outstanding work, gentlemen! Thank you.!

The crew at Moving Ahead was super professional and showed that they cared about our possessions. Before the move, they delivered boxes in a timely manner. (We just used their wardrobe boxes because you can buy other boxes cheaper at UHaul and Home Depot). We took advantage of having them over the course of 2 days which worked out well for our local move.

There were some damaged items, but they recognized the issue and immediately took the 2 items to repair them. Just one suggestion - make sure they put the plastic carpet protector down on any areas that need it before they start on either location. With new construction we have mud everywhere and some got tracked inside the new house on the first day.

The second day they put it on and made sure we were good with coverage before starting to unload. (This is why I have 4 stars instead of 5.) I would definitely recommend them for a future move!

Their services were clearly unsatisfactory. Cons: 1. Packed many boxes with no cushioning and damaged multiple items 2. Used unusual packing practices like using our own throw blanket to tape over and cushion mirror 3. Damaged several items temporarily-stored in their warehouse 4. Exhibited lack of customer service at times (see below) Pros: 1. Good estimate process 2.

Friendly staff 3. Packed kitchen items well 4. Delivered items on time and in courteous manner Most troubling was that they focused more on not exceeding projected truck space than completing our move. We were consistently clear that they were to move ALL items and we could not stay after to attend to anything left behind. When they went to leave, we were exhausted and didn't notice that they had not removed all items. And, we didn't think it was our responsibility to check their work since we were consistently clear about them moving all items.

The moving team left to add items we paid them to temporarily store at their facility. Then, they would not commit to returning to pick up the remaining items at our house until they knew that they would have space in the truck! We had to delay leaving for our new out-of-state home until they finally committed to return.inexcusably bad customer service. We certainly would not contract for their services again and cannot recommend Moving Ahead Services.

My friend was moving from a house to an apartment and requested services from these guys. Their arrival window was 9-10am, and they called right at 8:50am to let us know they would be arriving closer to 9:30am. True to their word, they showed up on time. The two movers were very professional. No eye rolls or attitude when my friend didn't know where she wanted something.

We had previously packed most of her stuff, so they only had to wrap the bigger items. Everything came over safe and with no damages. They even set up her washer and dryer connections. To any Akron-ites needing moving help, I would recommend these guys.
