I used this company this week. We chose them because they had great reviews and were very responsive in the months leading up to our move. They checked in every month to make sure we were still on. Therefore, that gave me great confidence there would be movers at our house on move day! Ted, Steve and Jay came to our house and were so professional.

They use such a neat way of communicating with each other while moving the furniture to look out to make sure nothing is hit, etc. This was definitely the BEST experience I've had and I've used 12+ movers over the years. They will be my first call on the next move. I would recommend to everyone! A+++++++ thanks for taking good care of us.

I am truly pleased with this moving company. They did a wonderful job moving the furniture in our home today. I absolutely recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future. Everyone I spoke with by phone or text were very nice and accommodating. The 2 gentlemen that came out were on time and did an outstanding job.

I have moved over 12 times and Ladd Moving is the best company I have EVER used. From my first call to last piece moved they were professional, excellent price, incredible customer service, on time, AND they so very carefully moved my fragile heavy antiques and piano. They also helped with putting pads under furniture feet. These guys were so so careful with my wood floors, my walls, the antique glass doors, the shelving, and were able to move all without a scratch.

I was so so impressed with every member of crew and office staff. You can tell this is a business that actually cares and takes great pride in their work. Highly highly recommend.

We've moved 8 times and this was by far our BEST move. The team was so easy to work with and did an excellent job. Not one thing was damaged and they maneuvered some difficult narrow stairs with very large heavy pieces of furniture. Their positive happy attitudes were contagious and made moving day fun! I hired JE Ladd to move an extremely valuable and heavy vintage letterpress printer (Vandercook Uni I). They asked very detailed questions before taking on the job to make sure they were able to move it properly. These presses are not easy to move for the few of us that have them and I was more than pleased with their professionalism! Should I ever need to move again, I will definitely hire them!

I was looking for a mover to move furniture within the state. I called three movers for quotes. I was immediately impressed with my initial conversation with Mr. Ladd! He is the owner of the company and he is the one with whom I dealt. It was so nice working with a family business. Our job was a rather large one. His bid came in lower than the other two movers!

JE Ladd was AMAZING for my local Holly Springs move. The movers are friendly, careful and extremely hardworking. I had other moving companies break furniture and glass, none of my items was damaged or broken. I would highly recommend for anyone moving locally in the triangle. Also, they are excellent at furniture placement when I didn't know where to place item they gave great recommendations.

Ladd & Son provided excellent service and fair pricing for my move across Durham. They arrived early and completed the move quickly and without any obstacles. I am deducting two stars from my review because our movers did not wear masks. This was honestly surprising to me, given that the nature of their work, which involves manual labor (and thus heavy breathing) and given that maintain 6ft distance was not always possible. Furthermore, I was moving out of an apartment complex, meaning other residents on the hallway were put at risk during my move.

I recently hired this company to help me move into a new home. They did a fantastic job. They paid careful attention to COVID precautions from a virtual tour of our home to determine an estimate, mask protocols, and social distancing. They arrived on time, were very careful with our belongings, pointed out existing damage to items, and suggested home to take care of our new hard wood floors.

They also removed the old washer and dryer and installed the new ones. The pricing was fair, and I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a moving service!

Best moving experience we've had and the only company we plan to use in the future! Kind, responsive, efficient, careful, and reasonably priced--absolutely no complaints from our recent move. They also wore masks and observed social distancing while navigating a morning of icy rain/sleet and two levels of new hardwood floors--attention to detail the whole way through. I contacted J.E. Ladd to move my son's belongins (student at Duke) from a 2 bedroom apartment in Durham to a storage unit. They arrived 10 minutes early and were professional, fast, and very careful. They loaded the truck carefully and professionally - carrying the items down a flight of stairs - drove to the storage unit, and unloaded everything very carefully.

They were done in less than 2 hours. I worked with Cameron to reserve the day and time. The invoice was exactly what was told to me. We could not be more pleased by the service. Professional, fast and careful. I would use them again without hesitation. Very good and very professional.

Best moving company ever. We are so grateful for all their thoughtfulness with our family and our possessions. They are real pros. Everything was done with care and efficiency. Yes, they worked with us to save money and time. They went the extra mile every time they helped us. Family company that treats you first class! ALL the movers (not just the owners) went the extra mile to help us feel comfortable with a difficult move. My mom is 78 and sick and they really worked with her make moving easy. Don't go anywhere else! By the way, their packing skills cannot be beat.

I used Ladd 30 years ago to move me and was greatly satisfied. Finally moved again a couple of weeks ago and found Ladd to be just as responsible, fair priced, and helpful with my moving needs. Family run business that has been very successful in passing on the values of a good moving provider though the generations. Not sure when I may need again, but they will be my first call.

Not sure what happened with this company. After calling, then an email, they asked a few questions stated they needed to see my items, crickets. Several more calls, emails, texts nothing. So much for 5 star. Unresponsive. I took my business elsewhere.

The was the best moving experience I've ever had. JE Ladd himself was part of the team, which also included his brother in law and an additional mover. All were courteous, professional, and timely; they did an incredible job packing everything in a very efficient manner and were careful to protect fragile items with moving pads. Based on their exceptional Yelp reviews and my call with the owner, I used J.E. Ladd to move all the items out of my house to refinish my hardwood floors. They took pictures of the items, without being asked, so they could put everything back perfectly. They did exactly that! To move the frig they crawled under the house, again without being asked to turn off the water. Efficient, polite, accurate and reasonably priced.

They moved my son's two bedroom apt on the second floor of his building into a 4th flood unit (with elevator) quickly. The total move took 3 hours. There were no gimmicks. These movers are decent. Honestly, I was expecting more when everyone rated them 5 stars. I had them move a one bedroom apartment on the understanding that it won't take more than 2 hours. It did, and I was charged more. The move itself was smooth-ish although I did notice that certain things were dirtier when they arrived. The movers are nice but not warm enough for a 5 star.

I had a better moving experience with another company before, so unsure if I will call for another move from them again Update: James from the moving company contacted me and they will refund the difference between what I was told and what the move took. That was really nice of them :) Update: I never received that refund I was promised. Back down to 3 Update: Refund received and issue resolved. Back to 4 :)

We hired JE Ladd & Son to do a quick 1 bedroom move with no furniture from Durham to Raleigh. They arrived promptly, were very professional, and knowledgeable. Bonus: nothing was broken. The fee structure was completely transparent and they took a little less time than originally quoted and did not overcharge. Based on the service I received, I'd highly recommend using their service for any move, big or small.

I'm not sure how any of the people got service because I've reached out to them three times already and not one person has reached out to me regarding my incessant request for a quote. 3 weeks ago I used Yelp to get a quote. Nothing. 2 week after that I went directly to the site to request. Nothing. I followed up with a call and left a message. Nothing. Called back a few days later.

Left a message. Still no response. Clearly my money is no good. Will be taking my business elsewhere. Update: I received a nice message from the company apologizing for never follow up so I gave them some more stars for that. Kudos to customer service and hopefully I'll be able to use their service someday.

These guys are absolutely amazing. I had read all of the good reviews online, but I was still unprepared by just how fastidious and efficient they were. I've seen other movers just throwing stuff around, but this was totally different. Not a single item in my entire 3 bedroom apartment was damaged, and we had some tough stuff to move. They also have a completely transparent time-based fee structure and are willing to do as much or as little as you want. I am sitting in my new apartment, surrounded by boxes I need to unpack, and am still blown away by how easy this move was. If I could give six stars I would.
