Hired these guys years ago. They were significantly more expensive than another moving company a year previous. And that's before a big "extra" charge for wrapping the furniture. When the guys showed up, my wife asked "do you wrap the furniture?" The guys said "we can to that" but failed to inform us of the extra charge. Admittedly, they did take pains to wrap everything nicely.
But the rate per hour was increased significantly. So in addition to the regular rate, there was an additional charge plus materials. If I remember correctly, it was around $1,400 extra. Our bad for not asking more questions. When I spoke to the fella at Gibraltar, he was aggravated. He did offer to knock $500 off the bill, but not until he berated me and insulted my wife.
He also went on about the value of my possessions and do I have proper insurance, and how can I not know about the value of my possessions, etc. Meanwhile all the valuables were in a POD. So, overcharged, and then berated and insulted. Horrible salesmanship. That said, the workers did a great job.

I used Gibraltar for moving from NJ to FL. Everything from beginning to end was awesome. My goods reached in perfect shape. I gave them 4 stars coz the team at destination did not assemble my bunk bed properly. However rest everything went very smooth. Every member was very polite and nice. Thank you team Gibraltar

I'm STILL (3 years later) receiving emails from people who have recently had the same experience. UPDATE: Still to this day I am getting emails from others with the same problems and saying they are being HARASSED AND OFFERED money from an employee at Gibraltar named Cal to take down negative posts! UNBELIEVABLE! Negative stars. Don't trust the good reviews on here, myself and others were harassed and threatened by the owner to take down our negative reviews (I know because I contacted all the others via Yelp message and they confirmed what he was doing to me, he was doing to them).

These guys were great. They moved us on short notice after our other mover cancelled just a few days before our move date. Gibraltar packed up our whole house in NJ and delivered us to SC all within one week. Their guys at both ends were very professional gentlemen and a pleasure to deal with. Special thanks to Leo, Germyn and Stef who worked so hard in the blazing sun.

This was a great experience. My wife was nauseous with stress in anticipation of our move from Livingston to Boca Raton FL. Once the move was over she was over the moon with joy. The entire operation went smoothly, was handled in a professional manner, the crew was courteous and obliging and the communication between us was perfect. They took excellent care of all our art work, our antiques, our piano and our bric a brac. Most impressive was the care they took to protect our house - see attached photo of our stairwell. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality move.

I would recommend going with anyone else. The rates constantly changed and zero transparency / honesty. Misplaced out TV and Speakers, but when we went to the truck they were right there, clearly. They will try to swindle you and we had multiple items missing and now realizing we have additional items we can't find. Honesty goes a long way, they lack that.
Surprised their reviews are as high as they are. Moved from NJ to SC. Wish we went with someone else, but thanks for the learning experience. Happy small business Saturday. Look at their BBB accreditation. Already falsified their rating. Couldn't find them a year ago and now this is proof they are dishonest.

We used this company to move last year, and had a terrible experience. Although the move itself went off ok, problems ensued after-the-fact. They charged us $1,000 more than we were contracted at, for no valid reason. Then, when we realized a few of our belongings were missing, the trouble started. We contacts the owner (I assume), who immediately said there was nothing he could do (in spite of the fact that we paid for the insurance to cover our belongings).
He then said we were accusing him of stealing and that we needed to call the police and report a theft. He refused to even entertain the idea that items might have been left in the moving van. He said he'd sue us if we posted a negative review of his company on Yelp. Being unhelpful is one thing. Being obnoxious is another. Needless to say, we never got any of the missing items back.
Almost more upsetting being over-charged and losing some of our stuff--some jewelry and a printer--was the way the owner treated us. Avoid at all costs. (One note: the movers who worked for the owner were nice and hardworking.)

ADD 50% ON TO YOUR ESTIMATE! Estimate was "below 3000 lb minimum ($3500)" actual was $5500. I only added a bed frame and side tables but took away a heavy credenza, so did not add 50% weight. The estimating is a scam to get you to book with them. They also don't estimate the packing supplies properly at all. The owner Bill is a prick - rude, obnoxious, condescending, unreasonable.
The packers and movers themselves are great - especially Barry. We would not have even moved this set of furniture had we known the real estimate. We would not have used Gibraltar had we known the owner is horrible. READ ALL THE REVIEWS including the 'unused' ones.

Gibraltar sent a crew to pick up very precious antique furniture, china and crystal from Florida and move to NJ. They did an excellent job packing all of the antique furntiure. When they got to my storage facility in NJ they carefully removed a large amount of furniture and fragile items going into my home in NJ and very carefully and precisely moved the Florida items into my storage room in a very orderly and easy to find manner.
Once they arrived with my furniture and other items to my home they were so helpful and careful and truly made the experience seamless. I was left with a level of comfort that they had really really taken care of our items all along the way. Would highly recommend.special shout out to Andy and his crew! Also to Bill and Cal who provided excellent customer service.

This moving company was awesome! They were efficient and got ALL of our stuff from NJ to FL without incident! Everything was explained thoroughly and we had no question left unanswered. Between the free boxes and packing material, the friendly guys at the place of business, the friendly (some very good looking) movers, very thorough inventory check, and cool driver, we have ZERO complaints.
We were a little nervous since it was our first big move and we were a little hesitant since we read some crappy reviews. But the gentleman that came to our home to give us a pretty accurate estimate was no nonsense and knew his $hit. Thanks to all involved! Tip: pay in cash for a discount AND give yourself a week buffer for delivery.

We used Gibraltar to move us to Jacksonville FL. We had a 5 bedroom home and a lot of boxes. I have a garage full of tools and and my wife collects dolls so careful packing was required. They gave us free boxes which I put all my tools in and the movers packed my wifes dolls. Everything arrived in perfect condition the guys were great, and the office was very helpful. I am very happy to recommend them.

I had a great experience with Gibraltar. They moved my 3 bedroom apartment from Jersey City to Union City and they even threw in an extra guy to the team just to make sure everything got done on time. All my stuff was carefully moved. I've got an extremely large sofa that, honestly, I didn't think was even possible to get through the door ways, but they dismantled part of it and reassembled it after it was in the new apt.
Right from the start the guy who came to my old apartment to check out all the furniture and stuff was very professional. He's been in the business forever so I wasn't worried about hidden charges because they knew exactly what it would take to make the move happen. Definitely recommend hiring Gibraltar and - if I ever do move again - I'll certainly be using them.

I had a great experience using Gibraltar Van Lines. When I requested an estimate they came to my apartment within two days and gave me a fair price. After booking them and providing a deposit I was given free boxes which were walked out to my car for me. The day of the move they were right on time and the crew was great. Barry, Andrew, and Rafael were friendly, professional, and worked quickly.
They also treated my belongings with care and everything was wrapped meticulously. I did not have a single item that had even slight damage. The best part was at the end when I paid the final bill it was actually $50 less than the original estimate which shows honesty and integrity as a company. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again the next time I move. Moving is never fun but this company made it go as smooth as it possibly could. Thanks again!

I'm in NJ. I know and understand that the only people that write reviews are the angry disgruntle ones. But my house/home and treasures that have taken me a lifetime to acquire were very important to me. First Ed comes to the house (he is a little rough around the edges) came thru the house and quoted me a certain amount based on the what I told him I wanted to move and the rest will stay behind.
I also told him I had a 5 x 10 storage bin with more stuff. remember this is an estimate and you need to consider another 500-800 because of crap you decide to take, or like me, lots of stuff in my storage bin. These guys were work horses. They never took a break. a solid 5 hours between 5-8 of them. The ones that stayed outside packing it into the van, and ones that are inside that wrap wrap wrap all my furniture (and also take it apart). I swear I think I held my breath until the move was unloaded at the Kissimmee Fl storage location. when it was all said and done, I was relieved and very happy.

Moving is never easy. I was impressed from first contact with Owner. His quote for my move from new jersey to Tampa, Florida was within the range of other estimates i received. Conversation was pleasant and I felt very comfortable with my decision. The crew came on time, were well prepared to pack my belongings with careful attention to all my fragile items and valuables.
I could go on and on but suffice it to say my move with Gibraltar was a great choice. The crew are hard workers, know their job and were friendly putting my family at ease. All I have to say is First class organization from start to finish. I can't say enough great things about Gibraltar Van Lines. I recently moved from Summit NJ to Boca Raton FL and I was a nervous wreck, didn't know what to expect. As soon as they arrived I was impressed. They protected my floors, padded my furniture and packed all my valuables. They were polite, courteous and treated my belongings like they owned it.

Outstanding job, Quick and efficient above and beyond what we expected. John and his crew were more helpful and very professional. Moving our furniture and equipment from my Bloomfield building to Clifton was no walk in the park! Honestly, I don't know how they managed to get some of the furniture and equipment through the doorways! Very accommodating with a positive can do attitude. Everything got in! Here's why this company is getting 5 stars. 1. I called multiple companies and requested quotes. Gibraltar sent out a gentleman by the name of Ed. Ed gave me an accurate quote based on the questions I asked. (Cost of tv, lamps, wardrobe boxes, etc) the final quote was nearly spot on. Actually came out under. This is important because someone sets their eyes on your stuff. Big, big deal.
Get a quote. Don't leave things out or, guess what, you'll get charged. That's with every moving company. Based on the quotes I received from multiple moving companies, I rolled the dice and went with the company in the middle of the cost of the quotes I received. 2. My fiance and I packed everything myself. I gathered boxes for a few weeks.
I believe the company has an option to give you boxes when you put your deposit down. I was told that there would be a fee if items weren't packed properly. Regardless, I thought back to other quotes and said, "okay". 3. Day before the move, called to confirm. Because there was a snow storm coming up and it could delay the move. The company would play it by ear and call me in the morning if they couldn't get to location. Fine. Makes sense to me.
We would reschedule if Mother Nature ruined the day. 4. Here's where my money went and was well worth it. 8am, day of the move. three phenomenal movers, Barry, Quasean and Raphael show up to load up my large 1 bedroom apt. In the snow. Which later turned to ice. Eventually rain. They handled the move like champs. They were working on an hourly weekend rate ( which costs more than a business day) and they didn't break stride.
We were loaded up and out of there in 2 hours. They had a great sense of humor and a great work ethic. They busted their butts and handled everything I owned with care. Quick but careful packing led to a fully packed 24 foot truck. We left my old place behind and showed up at my new residence. At this point it's pouring rain and icy. They taped down moving blankets on the floor and were mindful of the floors.
They rebuilt the furniture that needed to be broken down for the move. I can't thank the company enough for the professionalism and speed at which they worked. I'm a real person who paid with my hard earn cash to get this company out to move me. It was worth every penny. Bottom line. Get a quote from someone in person, ask the right questions and enjoy your move.

They lost our personal items in a move. When I called to inquire about it, I was told there was nothing they could do since we didn't purchase extra insurance. Silly me for trusting them to do their job. When I told them that they lost our items, they blamed us for not counting the number of boxes delivered. When I pointed out how that wouldn't have been helpful seeing that they gave us someone else's boxes instead, they said it was still our fault for not inspecting each box as it was delivered.
In addition, we had to leave several items behind like our vacuum and carpet cleaner because they told us they had to be boxed up for moving and they didn't provide us with big enough boxes for packing. They just stared at us blankly when we asked what to do. To top it all off, they tacked on another $400 dollars to our bill once delivery was made. Because of all of this, I would strongly NOT recommend them.
