We were provided moving services through my husband's relocation package and Hilldrup did not disappoint! The movers were very professional and their attention to detail both packing and setting up the rooms did not go unnoticed. Fred was a great leader and made sure that everything ran smoothly and that all caution was taken in both homes to prevent damage. Highly recommend for your next move!

Fred and the crew that came to help him load up all of our belongings were professional and quick. They are great at what they do. I was impressed with how smoothly the whole day went. Each member of the team communicated any necessary information or questions with me as needed. I am so thankful for this team and how well everything went on the day they loaded all of our belongings.

Hilldrup Moving Company was very responsive throughout the entire moving process. The in-person assessment by Andrea was key to our complicated move. Hilldrup (Elena) communicated every aspect of the move up to the moment the moving crew ( Dalton, Wes, Christian, Rusty) arrived. The moving crew was phenomenal! They asked questions before doing and were patient with my unique requests.
The moving crew was very kid friendly! They were able to work effeciently with my kids running around. I was very impressed with how quickly they packed up everything. The entire house was done in 1.5 days! The delivery was set for Thursday but due to bad weather, I was able to reschedule it last minute to Friday. They delivered my items as expected at the time they stated. Items were placed in the correct room and everything was assembled!
I must say this was easier than I thought it would be. I have no doubt it was less stressful due to the "awesomeness" of the Hilldrup Moving Crew! I highly recommend them for any of your moving needs!

We have used Hilldrup movers many times and they are always excellent to work with. This group, Josh, Christian, Todd and Luis were phenomenal. They came in, got organized and completed the removal of everything from our house and the packing of the truck in just three hours. They all were also extremely courteous. I could not recommend them more.

Hildrup Movers an excellent company! They took such good care of my belongings! Maury and his team were not only professional, but kind, funny, and dedicated to providing an excellent service. My move was done in two portions. Maury and his team did such a good job with the first part of the move that I scheduled the second portion around their schedule. Many thanks to Maury, Alma, Don, and Jeremiah!

Hilldrup are the ONLY movers I will ever use again. My items were with multiple moving companies for months until I contacted Hilldrup. Within three weeks of my initial contact I had my items moved from CA to WA. Not only were they fast and prices well, their communication was constant and always responsive. Maria went above and beyond, communicating in the evenings (she's on east coast and I'm west) and had some of the best customer service I've experienced in any industry. I will be going out of my way to recommend them to anyone who mentions moving to me!

Moving long distance can be very stressful. I must say that Hilldrup made the process smooth and painless. Maria, was very supportive and attentive to my needs. Also, the price they quoted me was $5000 cheaper than the rest of the companies. We've all heard the saying you get what you pay for, so I was hesitant that I would not receive quality service.
Not only did I receive quality service, but they were skilled, professional and friendly. I would recommend Jose Rivera as the driver hands down to anyone! His team was fast and efficient loading and unloading. They made sure I was satisfied with the work they performed. I'm big on reviews as it helps guide your decision on a product or service that you don't have any knowledge or experience with. This is an honest review and I would highly recommend this company for your moving needs.

Awesome experience with this company and their two employees, D & Sharif, they were professional, courteous, fast, and made us feel safe amidst this covid pandemic. They wore their protective gear and kept a safe distance to stop the spread. Honestly my best move so far, in 12 years in the military. Thank you for what you do D & Sharif. My family can move and know that our goods are in good hands.

3 reps arrived around 930am. It was earlier than I expected but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. They called when they arrived and brought our shipment to our apartment. They opened and unpacked everything and collected all the packaging and scraps for disposals. They were quick and efficient in unpacking without damaging everything. When it came time for signatures, they explained all the documentation as I reviewed it; I'm usually hesitant to sign anything immediately without reading but they were patient and straight forward in explaining each piece of paper. They even tried to be quiet so as not to disturb the sleeping spouse : All in all, great speedy service and efficient! Would recommend!

The crew that we had was outstanding. Joan, Robert, and Sharif were on time and exceptional. They were very conscientious, responsive, hard working. They were friendly and courteous and very helpful. If I could have this crew every time I moved, I would be happy! Thank you Hilldrup for your continual professionalism. I can't say enough positive about our delivery experience.

The crew of four was professional, courteous and efficient. They were helpful during this disruptive time for our family. They also followed Covid precautions which we really appreciated. They completed the work quickly, thoroughly and cleaned up after packing. This was one less thing we had to worry about. We really appreciate all the help. Highly recommend the service.

Cannot say enough about Hilldrup and United Van Lines. I was pretty terrified to move everything in a 1,300 square foot apartment from Washington DC to San Francisco - about as far as you can go! But my moving coordinator Maria anticipated all my questions, and the online portal offers excellent resources. The packers were thorough and efficient. My mover Chuck supervised loading, which was actually a lot of fun!
The loaders played music and joked around. Very personable guys. Chuck actually drove our load the entire way, and I had his number to text and check up on things. Unloading went very smoothly. United was recommended to me by someone who moves A LOT, and he said it's the best. Now I know for myself that's true!

To start off, I wish I could give zero stars. I can't believe I am even having to write and went through this, but I cannot believe the way Hilldrup (a company contracted by United Van Lines) treated me as a customer and want to warn others. I scheduled my move from DC to Chicago with them with a scheduled pick up on June 29th and drop off July 7th.
Two hours before they were to arrive and pick up my belongings in DC, my moving coordinator, Janyce, called to say they may not be able to come due to labor shortages. Eventually they were able to find a crew and come at 5pm. I thought that was as stressful as it would get. The day before I was supposed to move in I received a call: they would no longer be delivering my things that day and could not tell when they would or where my stuff was.
For the next two days I had to call repeatedly to get ANY update and still received no word on when they would deliver my things or where they even were. They dodged my questions, did not answer my calls, and would send me straight to voicemail. Finally, I received a call from my moving coordinator's supervisor, Crystal. She informed me my things were in Chicago and casually mentioned that she knew I was aware I wouldn't get them for another 9 days.
At this point I was livid. Not a single person had informed me of this -- my moving coordinator forgot to tell me. I was told I could get my own Uhaul to retrieve my belongings but that they would not find another moving company to deliver my things. I informed them it was unacceptable to get ALL of my belongings over 10 days late. They told me it was "okay" that I didn't have my things.
But how would they like to have barely anything, like a bed to sleep on? Eventually they were able to move it up to only 7 days late. The director was supposed to call me. She never did despite me personally calling and leaving a voicemail. Hilldrup and United Van Lines have serious communication and planning issues. Given they were aware of the labor shortage that multiple employees stated began in March, they should not have committed to my move when I booked it in May.
I have never experienced something so terrible and will never be using either company again. United needs to work better with their contracted companies on not overbooking -- there is not any oversight to ensure people are actually taken care of and have something to sleep on, wear, or cook with. Is part of the reason I was treated this way because I am younger and a woman? Probably. But I also think they are poorly run operation.

This company is taking weeks to deliver my house hold goods just so they could get more money from the Army. And that was in addition to the several several days of just trying to communicate the move in date. I begged them to try to move our stuff sooner but they didn't care. This caused us to have to spend a bunch of money on the bare minimums and my pregnant wife sleeping on an air mattress and she has already started work.
I even asked if I could pick some of my stuff up and they told me it would cost me money out of pocket to pick it up myself and void any insurance on the shipment. That doesn't make sense for a to have to pay more to do their job for them. I highly recommend against using this company for any moves. I'm not looking forward to the actual move date if it even happens.

The salesman is nice but all goes downhill. They do not honor the contract so it does not matter what is written down. Communication is poor at best, and do not expect a return phone call. You will pay top dollar and they do not have any organization skills. They send very few people to pack and end up packing late at night. Antiques left in pieces on floor, antiques broken, scratched floor of house, cartons left unpacked and left early for Memorial Day celebration!
They take a bank check ahead of time. Weigh station said that their weight analysis was very wrong and I get a large credit which they refuse to send. This is a nightmare; do not let this company move you. If you use them, get a lawyer on retainer.

This is our second time using Hilldrup. The first time I gave a five. This time I was hugely disappointed. The workers themselves were great. The driver, who is totally in charge was the problem. We had to leave a coach behind because he said it would be damaged if they tried to move it through the door frame. Even though it was Hilldrup who put it there five years ago.
I went to check on the coach and they had destroyed it and damaged the door frame without moving it out of the room. They were having trouble with getting the study furniture out of my study at the old house and I told them how it was moved in to which the driver said, too many chiefs in the room. At our new house they said they couldn't get our master bedroom furniture up to the second floor.
After having them destroy the coach at the old house I told them I would move the Ethan Allen bedroom furniture myself. I saw the driver drop my very expensive chess set without saying anything. I found it later and it was broken and just set back like nothing was wrong with it. I think I will have to get another company next time we move. Your move is totally dependent upon the luck of the draw with the driver.

My overall experience was negative due to Hilldrup's (and United's) response to my concerns about being overcharged. Through the whole process, the expectation was set that if the actual weight of our move was less than the original quote, they would credit us on the back end. It was not until after the move, when I reviewed the weight tickets and requested the credit, that Hilldrup and United both insisted that they would not do so.
The employee who estimated the weight of our move came up with a number that was more than 35% over the weight of the actual move. I would not have been upset had they missed small, but they missed big. In the weeks since the move, I have experienced the typical runaround the little guy always gets from the big company, and ultimately told that neither United nor Hilldrup would make good on their promises.
My advice to you: get it in writing up front. These companies all know that you are not experienced enough to really advocate for yourself. You are not an expert in the moving business, but they are. I do not believe they overcharged me on purpose - they made a mistake up front. Anyone can. But their inability to rectify the mistake is what earns them the poor Charles- both Hilldrup and United have my contact info. Thanks, Joe

Moving is never easy, nor fun. I researched numerous moving companies and received a few quotes. Hilldrup (United Van Lines) seemed to have decent reviews. Most importantly to us, the Hilldrup guy who came out to give us an estimate explained how their quotes are "binding, not to exceed". Meaning: we were guaranteed the final price would not exceed our quote.
Even though the quote was a bit higher than competitors', this sounded better to us than giving a blank-check to a moving company. (Your situation may differ.) We had a large household moving from NC to CO, so over $10,000, even though we packed all the boxes ourselves. The pre-move went fairly well. Our driver was great. But the "Moving Coordinator" was worthless; just a corporate drone middle-man person.
During the move, the contract-hired crews were average. We have a few broken item, and some light damage/scrapes to our house walls, etc. but nothing extraordinary. Even though we paid extra for the $0 deductible insurance, we didn't bother with the hassle of reporting the ~$200 worth of claims we would've had. A few weeks after the move, we did receive the correct refund amount due to our hauled weight being slightly under the quoted amount. So overall, even though the move was stressful at times, I believe United Van Lines did a relatively good job. You could definitely do worse.

Husbands company provided this moving company for us. Sarah Hurst handled our account. She originally quoted us $8,800 for 10,000lbs. Husbands company had a starting budget. We realized it wouldn't be enough so they increased the moving budget for us in case we needed it. Movers packed and weighed our items. Sarah told us it would cost $12,000.
We asked for the weight three times before she answered us. She changed her story four times before admitting that our items weighed 8,000lbs. Once my husband was able to get her to admit to the discrepancy, it turned out to only cost $7,500. She tried to get away with over charging us by $4,500! Her words, "I was told that your cap had been bumped up, and to proceed." Followed by more lies. We, reasonably, we're furious about being lied to, ripped off and given the run around.
My husband said the word bull$#!+ to her. She emailed him later telling him to "watch his language." You're trying to steal from us by holding our possessions hostage. The word was merited. To top it off. We asked them many many times not to deliver our items in the rain. They continued to pressure us to accept delivery anyway; "It probably won't rain." The day before delivery, the forecast predicted 100% chance of rain all day. Starting early in the morning.
This is because the moment they got our account, they booked another one for Monday. Which was cutting it close. So apparently their over booking is OUR problem. I would THINK they'd care about the safety of their crew. Moving heavy items in the rain? In wet shoes, on wet floors, with wet hands? Not to mention the liability of damaging our items.
Apparently they're not worried about the safety of their employees. I'm actually nervous about posting this review because they still have our stuff. We'll see if it rains tomorrow and how they behave. I'll update my review accordingly.

I am the Durham County Area Cookie Coordinator for Girlscouts. I want to give a huge thanks to Hildrup and their employees for making our cookie pick ups run smooth every year. Today, while sitting in their conference room waiting on various Troops to pick up their mass orders. Their employees helped a parent whose car was over heating in line. Not only did they check on her, she popped her hood AND they fixed her hose AND filled her with anti freeze.
I offered them some cookies on the house as a thank you and they wouldn't accept. This group is one class act and if you need a moving, storage company that cares about people this is the company for you! Way to go Hildrup staff!

After years of avoiding Yelp, I have made an account today just to review Hilldrup. This is the fifth time myself or anyone from my family has used Hilldrup to move (the second time I personally have used them). If we were to have rated them for the previous moves, I'm sure we would have given them 4 or 5 stars. However, this last move, a move of only TWO BLOCKS, has been a pain in the ass, to say the least.
It is also the first time any furniture has been damaged in a move, and the first time anyone has tried to use their Hilldrup insurance. That little factor is the only difference between a five star experience with Hilldrup and a one star experience with Hilldrup. My antique Ethan Allen desk and dressers and an Aaron Brothers picture frame were all damaged durning the move.
The movers did not pack nor care for my things the same way they would have for a longer move, and my belongings paid the price. I felt okay, though, knowing I purchased the best (read: most expensive) insurance policy possible from Hilldrup. It has now been over two months of these mother******s trying to nickel and dime me on the cost of repairs for the dressers.
Today I called the second repair guy the sent for an estimate, and it turns out they were LYING about what they said he told them. They'd been saying he said the damage wasn't from moving, when if fact he said the damage WAS from moving. I wouldn't have ever known that if I hadn't called him myself, because I trusted Hilldrup. What the hell, Hilldrup? You've just wasted two months of my time, made my family and me insanely frustrated with you, and I'm now going to report you to the Attorney General and BBB. You suck.
