With over 40 years of piano moving experience in Atlanta, we know what it takes to move an instrument as valuable and delicate as a piano. My name is James Kidder, President and CEO of Jim's Piano Movers; The Premier Atlanta Piano Movers Specializing in Grand Pianos. I have over 40 years experience in the piano industry. During those 40 years I have become a specialist in the moving of large grand pianos. During the 1970's I moved and set up grand pianos around Atlanta Georgia for concerts for such legendary performers as Ray Charles, Roberta Flack and Elton John.

This week, I used Jim's Piano Movers to move a baby grand piano I had purchased from someone in a nearby subdivision, to my house less than 5 miles away. Previous to hiring them, I called 6 other places for quotes and availability to get a good sense of what pricing might be. First off, don't utilize a standard moving company. From the people I spoke with, I didn't get a good feeling that they were knowledgeable on piano moving. Secondly, their rates are far off from those that specialize in moving pianos. Anyways, from the get go, the quote and booking process with Jim and his son was seamless and easy.
On piano moving day, Jim and son arrived promptly on time. Once they started going, you could tell they had years of experience in moving pianos. They had to take the legs off, which they did so with ease and delicately. They wrapped up the piano very well and on to the dolly. What's great to see was the attention to detail on where they laid down padding on the floor and around the ramps to get down and over steps and the caution in their movement not to hit or dent anything on the floor and walls.
The family we bought the piano from was putting their house up for sale and just had the walls repainted so there was some high concern about hitting them. Let me tell you, I watched like a hawk and not one thing was hit. It wasn't a straight out either, they had to move around and up and down a sunken floor. Once loaded and secured, they brought it over to my house and used the same caution as they brought it in.
They set the piano back up and reinstalled the legs and pedals in no time and it was back up and ready to play. Not only are the great movers, but they are highly knowledgeable about pianos. Some of the cool things they pointed about our piano, no one would know if they weren't knowledgeable. If you're looking for someone to move your piano with care and to do it right, you should be calling these guys now to hire them.
Next time I have to move our piano, better believe I'll be calling Jim and his son. Trust me, these are they guys you want moving something that valuable. Thanks you guys for taking care good care of us!

Overall, timely and professional. I was actually charged less than I was originally quoted! I have to put three stars though, because when they finished moving and placing the piano, the younger man tightened a screw too much on a mirror that goes above the piano. It wound up cracking later that day. Besides that, very good

Jim and his son were more than helpful and patient as my dad and I tried to figure out the best day and time to move a piano from Atlanta area to Augusta. The only tiny inconvenience was that he prefers to be paid by cash so I had to run to two separate ATMs. Other than that - I got my piano in good condition and timely.

This is absolutely the company to call to move a larger piano! We needed a 6'8 grand piano (note: this is a very heavy piano) moved. A year ago, we'd had it moved from Marietta to Atlanta, and we used a different company that mostly has excellent reviews. We had a less than perfect experience with them, and I can tell you for sure that Jim's is the superior choice in the Atlanta area. Sure, he doesn't take credit cards, but in the grand scheme of things, getting your piano moved safely and the attention to detail and professionalism are the priorities!
The guys who moved my piano were calm, experienced adults (last summer's movers included one adult with experience and a few well-meaning teenagers). They worked safely and efficiently and -- best of all -- they showed me EVERY nick and ding before they loaded it all up. Yes, it's humbling to see the damage already on the piano, but it avoids ANY question of the exact condition of the piano before/after the move. Don't underestimate the importance of this (again, cough cough, last summer's move was a different experience in this regard). Finally, when positioning the piano, they took the time to get it just right and straighten the casters. Things we could do ourselves, but the attention to detail is great. Seriously, having now gone through this process twice, use Jim's Piano Movers. Tip them. They deserve it. :)

We had to move an older upright piano on short notice from our neighbor's home to ours. Through fortuitous circumstance, Jim was able to fit us in on the same day that we called due to a gap between jobs. The crew of three were very polite and the move went surprisingly quickly. Care was shown for the piano throughout. We felt that the price was fair and we paid in cash. We would certainly recommend Jim's Piano Movers to anyone looking for a responsible, responsive team.

I had a great experience with Jim's Piano Movers. I bought a piano from a family in John's Creek and had it moved to my apartment in Virginia Highlands. Jim was extremely professional and accommodating with the move. I called him on a Sunday and we scheduled the piano to be moved that Thursday. The fee was $300 - to move my upright from a first floor house to a second story apartment (up one flight of stairs). The entire move went smoothly. I watched them move the piano up the stairs and they definitely knew what they were doing. I will definitely use this company again!

This company really does treat your piano like your baby. They are organized, efficient, friendly, professional and are extremely knowledgeable about pianos. They can not only move your piano for you but also repair pianos. They also sell some really nice pianos as well. No pressure. I am recommending this company because I believe in their ability to provide the people of Atlanta a great service in all aspects of dealings with pianos. Call and ask for Jim and you will not be sorry.
