Best move ever! And I move a lot (3 moves in the past 5 years!) This was my fifth move with Marathon Movers. Great company, professional, reliable, with no surprise on pricing! Will, Joe and Elwin were wonderful. They arrived on time, were pleasant to work with and careful with my belongings. At the new place, they organized all my boxes by room, placed the furniture to my liking, and made sure I was satisfied with everything. It was a pleasure working with them. Hopefully this was the last move before very long!

The administrative side is good. The moving aspect is NOT! There is no white glove element to it. The movers don't treat anything with respect and just try to get things done as quickly as possible. They busted up boxes, broke furniture, left things all over the place. The cherry on top was that it was a hot day and one mover took his shirt off b/c he was sweating so much and then decided to bring our couch cushions in the house four at a time. Two under his sweaty armpits and two death gripped in his hands. It was a horror to watch.

Marathon Movers are awesome! Highly recommend this company for your next move. Communication from the start was fantastic and only continued. I had three other quotes and this was by far the best one. I had some initial doubts about only having two people for my mid sized move (2 bedroom apartment with lots of stuff!) when other companies quoted me for three movers, but I was very happily surprised. Josh and Dan killed it!
They were amazing. They were professional, personable, and worked hard. They never stopped working and only cared that my move was completed successfully and in good time. They took the time needed to wrap and secure all necessary items and there was no damage to my items or my residences. And. They had to move me from a 3rd floor apartment with only stairs. Thank you Josh and Dan, and Marathon Movers for making my move so easy.

Absolutely horrible experience. These guy took 12 freaking hours and charged me $1,500 to move my 2 bedroom townhouse. I specifically told them to take boxes, furniture, and shelves only. Instead, they packed and moved things that I then had to go back and return to the old house. They of course charged me for all the extra (and seriously excessive) materials they used.
I have never had a move that resulted in so many crushed boxes, including many marked FRAGILE in huge bold print. When I told them I was unhappy with the unreasonable time they took they said, "Well, you had a lot of heavy stuff." I had no appliances and no huge furniture. They took a lunch break after loading the truck, which is of course totally fine.
But after taking 6 hours to load a 2 bedroom place they didn't want to commit to a time to arrive at my new place which was only a 30 minute drive away. When I pressed the lead guy to commit to a time he was totally indignant and acted like they were doing me a favor by moving my things, not hired professionals. Steer clear of this company. I'd have been better off renting a truck and picking up some guys from home depot.

The team at Marathon is exceptional! They worked with me to schedule a fairly complicated (4 stop) move and executed perfectly. Scheduling was easy and Kathy and Lillian were both super helpful in making the arrangements. Huge shout out to the moving crew Will, Carlos, Aleldnine, Matt M and Edwin! These guys were friendly, professional and very efficient.
They handled all of my possessions, including a piano, with care and respect, and made a move out of a house with 5 flights of stairs look easy (I know it was not easy!) This was my second time using Marathon and won't hesitate to use them again. Highly recommend!

I'm moving cross country and decided to go with Marathon Moving after talking to multiple companies. The team was very responsive and helpful before arriving and when the two m per arrived, they were right on time. Jerry and Keith were very friendly and efficient. They were able to get through my 1 bedroom apartment in two hours and answered any questions I had. I'd definitely recommend them and you'd be lucky to have Jerry and Keith if you're able!

Marathon Movers were awesome! The team arrived and immediately got to work. They were efficient, courteous, and professional. They took care when moving all of my items, diligently taking inventory of everything I had, and labeling each box. They delicately handled my more fragile items, securely wrapping them to ensure they were protected. I highly recommend this company if you are looking for qualified movers in the Boston area.

Everyone we worked with at Marathon Moving was helpful and professional. Because it was an interstate move, we were working with Allied Van Lines - they all did a terrific job. Everyone at Marathon was helpful and responsive and the movers themselves were really terrific. They did an amazing job getting their trucks up our new driveway and handled everything really well. Would use them again without hesitation.

I used Marathon to move from MA to FL recently. It wasn't a whole house move, just some random boxes and pieces of furniture I had at my mother's house that I wanted in FL. This was the first time I moved myself, I'd often been relocated with companies but never needed to find a mover myself. It is really stressful. Marathon has great Google reviews but there were 1-2 that really gave me pause.
I kept worrying about them and thinking "what if they are really true?" so I called Kathy, my rep at Marathon, to discuss them. I was open about my hesitations with the 2 reviews and she shared with me her perspective. There are always two sides and I felt like she was very open with me and just the fact that she didn't get upset when I mentioned the bad reviews was positive in my mind.
I decided to go with Marathon and it was a great move. They showed up within the window given to me (at both load and unload) and they were professional. They moved a sleeper sofa down a flight of stairs that curved and they didn't touch the walls at all. I did my own packing, so I can't speak to their packing, but as far as loading, unloading, shipping and meeting the expectations they set for me, they get great reviews.
It is a really stressful, expensive process, so if you have doubts, I recommend you call and talk to them about it. I'm sure you'll feel better just like I did! I appreciate the whole team for their help and definitely recommend them.

Marathon Movers rock! The four men that moved my home of 42 years of "stuff" to a new hone 200 miles away were incredible! They were polite, professional, efficient and very accommodating. They are a credit to the company! I don't plan on moving again but I would recommend Marathon Moving Company to anyone who needs them!

I have used Marathon Moving on several occasions and couldn't be more pleased with the service from both a coordination, staffing and overall perspective. I also stored two containers of furnishings there for 2 years and everything worked out great. Thank you to the office team, and to the movers themselves. I recommend Marathon highly!

Short story: Movers broke a piece of glass in china cabinet - that's fine, as accidents happen. Mover's insurance will cover it, right? BUT: Marathon claimed their insurance pays $0.60 per pound payment. Since the piece of glass weighted 15 lbs, they decided to reimburse me $9. The glass was custom glass that cannot be special ordered, the unit is 10+ years old. so basically going to cost me $5000+ to order a new china/dining set. Moral of the story: Marathon damaged a VERY expensive item, and decided they wouldn't pay for it.

I would give this place negative stars if I could. We used them to move us across the country and the day they packed up our stuff one of the movers stole some of my medication I call to report this to them and they blew me off and refused to drug test them to see who stole from me. After we unpacked in our new home we found that they also stole a brand new ps4 pro a headset for the ps4 and about a dozen games

Used these guys again for another move. Although it seems that their prices may have understandably increased a little since I last used them yrs ago, service was just as good, if not better. Owner honored my Yelp voucher and even threw in an extra discount for me being a return customer. Those guys worked HARD. I had some really heavy items and a wide couch that they had so much patience with. Thanks again Marathon. You guys are the best!

We used Marathon for a recent move to a new home. Having been in our old spot for 11 years and not having used movers before, we were a bit anxious. Marathon was responsive, professional, affordable, courteous, worked quickly, and within the parameters provided in their estimates. They picked up the stuff both in our old home as well as a storage unit we had been using leading up to our relocation. With any luck, the next time I move will involve my ashes being scattered. If we have to move homes again, I would not hesitate to use Marathon.

You get what you pay for and moving companies are no exception. Kathy came out to my property for a site visit, explained to me the process and what I needed to do and what they would take care. She followed up with a proposal and from there my move was booked. The two man crew showed up on time and were extremely professional. You could tell it wasn't their first rodeo because everything they did was extremely systematic and efficient.
If I had a question about the process they were quick to answer, and overall moving wasn't as inconvenient as I thought it would be, which is definitely a testament to the company. When they arrived at the new property, they already knew where most of the items were going, and even helped me plan out a room when I jokingly asked if either of them were interior designers. Work isn't always fun but these guys definitely enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you Marathon Moving for the wonderful service.

I'm sorry to write this review because everything we experienced on the front end with Marathon was top-notch. Kathy and Lillian were great to work with and the moving team we had was amazing on everything but a few items. They didn't even damage any walls carrying big furniture down a very narrow stairwell. Had I not just had the worst customer service ever, we would have recommended this company and given them high marks.
But it's not every day that I get accused of fraud twice in a situation where I was simply trying to get some small damages repaired. Sheila was the one I spoke with two times and gave me one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. Two out of three damages we reported were told to the company right away and they agreed to fix those. One, however, we discovered after the 30 days grace period following our move.
A set of valuable paintings that we had wrapped and unwrapped by Marathon was placed on a concrete floor and the expensive framing was scuffed on two of the 3 pieces. Because we started a construction project right when we moved in, our basement where the art pieces were located wasn't unpacked until well after our move. Therefore I didn't discover the damaged frames until about 3 months after our arrival.
I had paid for insurance, which cost an extra $250 and provided me $50,000 of coverage for "actual cash value" on my shipment. Our total move probably contained a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of items, but there were three insurance options on the form: 1. Basic coverage which was free and reimbursed.60 on the cost of the items. 2. Transit value insurance which was unavailable for items going into storage (ours were being stored so not an option). 3.
And $50,000 of coverage for $250, the most you could get, so this was the option we chose. I'm still unclear as to why the "fraud" was being accused. Sheila mentioned that I hadn't declared the full value of our shipment and hadn't insured based on that. But I simply chose the most insurance I could get - option #3. The only fault I can see on our part is that I was late in declaring our damages.
But wouldn't a reasonable business who was concerned about its reputation try to make good on something that really would have been no skin off their backs? I have been in customer service businesses all my life and that would have been an easy affirmative choice. The damage form I filled out asked me the original purchase value on my 3 damaged items, so that's what I put down.
These totaled around $9500. Yes that is a high amount but I was never expecting to be reimbursed the replacement cost of the items. That's what was simply required on the form. The art was expensive - I can show the original receipts - but I wasn't asking them to buy me new art, I just wanted the frames cleaned up. But before we could even get to the point of discussing what needed fixing, Sheila had brought up the word fraud.
It felt like she had brought a pre-determined mindset to our conversation that I was somehow trying to scam them. But I simply wanted my stuff fixed that Marathon's guys (really just one new and inexperienced guy) dinged up. Would it really have cost Marathon that much to fix a couple of scuffs on some frames and saved a customer who would have helped build relationships with many others in the future?
I would have recommended Marathon to everyone I knew and I actually have in the past, but thanks to Sheila and her poor customer service and horrible tone, now I can't do that.

Movers were all younger guys. Very polite. Showed up on time. My furniture had some minor dings/scratches, they gouged/scratched up the ceiling/walls in the house I was moving out of and completely ruined (dented, scratched, lost parts, etc.) my new refrigerator -the lead mover said "things get damaged when you move." So, my advice is BUY THE INSURANCE! I'm glad I did.

We recently moved and can't say enough great things about our Marathon Moving experience. The guys we had both times were so professional, on-time and worked their butts off! They were super fast and went out of their way to make things smooth and stress-free for us. The move leader, Raldy, for both moves was great and I will be highly recommending to all of my friends and family who need to move. We were worried about the costs but the quote was right on and even came in under because the guys worked so fast! Can't beat that!

We are so happy with our moves I wrote this company a personal thank you Professional, on time, easy to work with (office staff as well as drivers). Marathon moved us 1.5 yrs ago out of our house. Some items went into storage, some items were moved into the apartment. Last week they moved us out of the apartment and out of storage into our house. Each time they moved us it was a pleasure, painless and easy. Nothing was a problem, they handled all our boxes, furniture (some that were heavy pieces) carefully with no damage to the house or the boxes.

The crew that moved my furniture were really hard workers. Even the 90+ degree heat didn't seem to slow them down. They were really polite and easy to work with. However, they caused some damage to the house I was selling. The crew leader took pictures and assured me that someone would call me on Monday to arrange repairs. No one ever called me until I contacted them several days later, but by then we were unable to arrange someone to repair the damage before the house was sold.

I will admit that I was the faintest bit skeptical of these guys after the first round of estimates--they came back with a number that was quite a bit higher than two other companies we asked with. Never have I been so wrong. It turns out, 9 hours to move an entire household of stuff is an ABSURDLY SHORT amount of time, and the other guys who were quoting 3 or 4 hours for the same services were probably planning on firing our dishware out of a cannon aimed at the new house, and then stuffing the cat into the glove compartment for the drive over.
We had a team of 3 guys moving us (whose names are now escaping me and it is KILLING ME, because they are amazing and should be celebrated in song), and if I had 1/10th of the hustle that these guys have, I would be. well, not writing Yelp reviews during the work day, that's for sure. 8 hours into the move, all three of them refused an offer of dinner, and just asked for Gatorade. Notable highlights: 1.
Whenever they were not carrying boxes of our crap from the house to the truck, these guys were straight-up running. Like, when they ran out of boxes to assemble, someone would literally sprint back to the truck parked outside. 2. We were not packed for this move. Not even close. Dishes still in the cabinets, blankets on the bed, shoes in the closet. it wasn't a good scene.
This was after two weeks of us preparing for the move. These guys packed our entire house up and loaded it onto a truck in three hours. THREE HOURS. The last time I moved, it took me that long to park the U-Haul. 3. But don't think there's any slipshod packing work here. Our Ikea dishes made the trip unscratched, because they were just as careful with the $1.50 plates as they were with my grandma's china.
When I unpacked the boxes from the kitchen, I discovered two open boxes of cereal that they had TAPED SHUT to keep the Cheerios from spilling on the trip. I cannot even. 4. Because they understand the insanity of the moving process, Marathon pulled the permits with the city to block off the street in front of our house so the truck could park, and then posted the "No Parking" signs themselves.
I didn't have to set foot in the town hall, which is good, since a week of packing our lives into boxes would have otherwise guaranteed that they would have had to park on the lawn. 5. Speaking of parking on the lawn: when the truck couldn't fit up the driveway at the new place, nobody batted an eye. They managed to parallel park, on the sidewalk, in a spot about 8 inches longer than the giant truck, and didn't even roll their eyes at my complete lack of foresight.
Every person I know in this town has a story about terrible movers. Don't do it! Don't hire the lowest bidder! Hire the guys who will bust their asses for you, and then apologize for not being able to get your 80" boxspring around the 60" hairpin turn on the stairs.

I did a lot of research before choosing a company to move my family of 8 out of our 4 bedroom house. With Marathon, my calls were promptly returned and the secretary/dispatch people I spoke with were awesome! They gave me an estimate that seemed reasonable and the move was arranged. A few weeks later, the house we thought we had fell through, and we had to change the date and location of the move. Marathon was able to accommodate us without any problems.
Our 4 man team showed up exactly when we were told they would, and they were amazing! They knew exactly what they were doing and worked with precision and diligence. They checked in with us several times to make sure that everything was exactly how we wanted it before they left. They also finished EARLY and we paid LESS than the estimate we were given! Awesome experience, great company.

I learned that Summer in New England is when everyone moves. I was about to close on a house and had to move the first week of July. Lucas at Marathon found a date that worked for me when no other moving company could. He sent a guy out that same day to do a walk thorough so I could get a realistic quote. (Yes, you do have more stuff than you think). Moving day the lead guy Mark called to say they were there on their way. Don't be afraid to ask for enough movers and trucks.
We wanted it done in one trip so we asked for 6 guys and two trucks. SOOOO glad we did. They never stopped working even when I would chat them up with questions. Some of the guys were from Romania and working for the summer. Super nice and interesting. One guy had his Masters in Psychology! They also offer FREE boxes which I was very happy to have and they come get the boxes at the end.
Just call when you're ready and they'll put them back in circulation for the next move. Reuse is even better than recycle! I not only would use them again, I did. Different movers but same polite, fast service. At the end Mark went over the invoice in detail. It's really hard to estimate what a good price is for a move. Marathon was $800 less than Gentle Giant but more than others. I think this is what it costs to get free boxes and a professional company.
