Be aware of this mover. DISCOUNT means DISCOUNT SERVICE! If you're 1/5 of their 250 customers, you will be screwed. We are strained today on our moving day. This moving outfit called us to cancel our appointment an hour before our moving schedule. His excuse was we don't answer the phone and emails. But they know how to use Text to change our schedule, but somehow didn't know to use Text to ask us to confirm "again" our appointment? Yelp should remove them from hurting customers.

They are UNRELIABLE and will cause you a headache. We have moved many times, sometimes from city to city. We have bad movers damaged our furniture, but never had one cancelled our appointment on the day of moving.

NEVER HIRe THEM! They change the time from morning to afternoon the day before. Then one hour before the said time they dropped the ball said the cannot do it. Their excuse was we didn't confirm our appointment. If they were not sure why they moved the moving time from morning to afternoon? We had to call another mover for emergency move. Never hire this mover. I should give them zero star if allowed.

Discount Movers replied quickly for our quote. Arrived on time, packed with care, moved flawlessly. This was the easiest move I have ever done. The crew was incredibly nice and experienced. I would use them again without hesitation.

Critical: Responsiveness A crew of 4 parked the truck behind 3 vehicles And a handicapped parking space. Cars could not leave. I finally tracked them down at the suite they were working, and asked them to please hurry and move their truck. They literally started stepping backwards and sassing me. Unethical, no integrity, NOT Recommended. Phew.

Buyer Beware! It says 'discount' for a reason. I recently moved from San Diego to Los Angeles. The quote was reasonable. I crossed my fingers. The movers showed up well over an hour late. Three young gents under the age of 25 and two of them were wearing sandals. I have no complaints about their work ethic. I did have to ask them to blanket wrap several pieces of furniture.

I worried that table and dresser legs were not removed. I also worried that none of my possessions were being recorded on paper. No stickers. No proof that they were on the truck. In the end, I was missing $500 worth of bed pillows. The email I sent to them asking about my pillows was never returned. I'm thinking what proof do I have that I even had those pillows? None. You get what you pay for. And if it's too good to be true - it most likely is.

BEWARE. These guys are not ethical: they moved a neighbor, then backed their truck down the street, tried to turn it in front of my house, and backed into my custom mailbox, knocking it down and bending the steel box, now unusable. Two neighbors watched them from directly across the street, tried to warn them to stop, then the truck sped away. When I contacted the manager to get reimbursed, they delayed for 3 months then claimed they were not responsible, go ahead and take us to small claims court!

I am disappointed in our move experience with Discount Movers. For our move, we had our own UHaul truck, but our building required movers, and Discount Movers was on their approved list, so we hired them to essentially load our truck. To start the morning, they showed up an hour after the scheduled time, high, smelling of weed with a pipe in their company truck.

They continued to be unprofessional with frequent profanity, with one mover talking about being out until 3am and sleeping until his boss called to wake him up. I'm terms of moving, we had our stuff well packed in moving boxes and suitcase and we're told all our furniture would be wrapped, padded, and loaded. About half our furniture got wrapped, and the movers left half the bags of furniture pads that we got for the move unopened.

They stacked everything on top of our one box clearly labeled fragile. Our dining room table was damaged because it was not wrapped or padded. I am grateful that we had our own UHaul truck because I would not have felt that our stuff was safe if it was moved by them in their truck, and I would not recommend them for moving. I have been updated that all employees in regards to our move have been terminated. Also, John and James (owners/supervisor/managers) were easy to contact and straightforward to deal with. I feel the company would be better off if they had movers that accurately represented them.

Discount Movers has a young, upbeat website that looks like your move will be handled professionally. Because of that I contacted them to do a small office move for my company. The gruff, short old fella who answered the phone could not have been less like the website experience. He spoke low and fast and was very hard to understand. I also found him to be rude, short and quoted me a price inside of the first 20 seconds of speaking with him. There's no way he knew enough about our move to make that quote and couldn't get me off the phone fast enough.

No thanks! Next! UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO BUSINESSES RESPONSE BELOW: Yes, this absolutely happened. Just last week, in fact. I called the number from your website so there's no mistake. The experience was exactly as described and you've only further damaged your business in my estimation by trying to deny/joke/bluff the impacts of my review away. Privately, you sent me a message asking me to call your office to discuss my review which I absolutely will not do now, since I've already taken enough of Discount Movers' abuse.

For the record, I don't even know what a "SuperYelper" is. I've posted 27 reviews in 11 years so I'm guessing that's not me. Listen, had you simply PM'd me to discuss I would have happily done so and maybe even wiped my review and given you a chance to quote my office move. Everybody is allowed to have a bad day. But now, combining these two very negative experiences with Discount Movers, I have no choice but to let my review stand as it illustrates your company's attitude accurately. I have been a professional buyer since 1989 and I know when I'm dealing with a legitimate business and when I'm not. Good day.

I wrote this review over 6 months ago and just realized I never posted it! I had a fantastic experience with Discount Movers! Ryan and his partner truly went above and beyond for me. They were flexible, very respectful of my belongings and space, and offered to help out with things that I hadn't initially asked of them. It was the best moving experience I've ever had and their pricing is extremely competitive.

We hired Discount Movers to move our family belongings about 40 miles to our new home. During the move one mover came across a dish holding some of my wife's jewelry. At our new home, unwrapping the dish we found my wife's diamond wedding ring missing, along with another diamond/ruby ring and a gold bracelet. My wife knew who packed the dish and when questioned the packer admitted wrapping the dish, said he recalled a watch in the dish, but just couldn't recall what else was in the dish.

When we took the matter to Discount Movers they immediately denied any responsibility, and even seemed reluctant to follow the matter up with their employee. A company that tolerates thieving employees and is reluctant to even discuss the issue is a company anyone hires at their own risk. As a side note, their "not to exceed" moving quote of $3,700 came to almost $6,000. And some items were never moved. I wish the best of luck to anyone hiring Discount Movers of Anaheim.

After the packing debacle we arranged with the owner(?) manager(?) to have the movers still come to move our furniture. They were prompt and super fast with moving everything. They did a great job getting all of our stuff where it belonged. I had called ahead to request wardrobe boxes, and apparently my husband didn't know that he needed to ask for them (I was at the new house) so we didn't get them while they were needed, but they did leave us a few.

However they didn't leave the bar that goes in them, so they were essentially just massive boxes. We ended up paying $625 including tip for 2 mattresses, a couch, a bookcase, 2 chairs, 2 cube units and a dresser to be moved about 10 miles. I'm not sure if that's on par with local moving costs. I still wouldn't hire them again based on the experience with the packers, but all in all, the movers were easy to work with and were nice guys. Drayke was very nice and communicative.

My only petty complaint is that everything we had was addressed to my husband, and everything was in his name - but he had literally nothing to do with any of it. I booked the entire thing while he was deployed, and I was the sole point of contact for the move.

We booked Discount Movers for a recent local move. The team showed up 1 hour late and also had to be constantly reminded to wear their face masks. As you can see from the pictures, there as a lot of damage done to our furniture and also to the walls and doors in the place we were moving from (that was a lot of fun for me to get to spend hours patching and painting that damage as well).

I called the owner after sending the pictures. He said he would "talk to the team" and then I never heard anything back. The damage done to our furniture was needless and clearly the result of them not using any padding. Careless and disrespectful. And the radio silence was a clear indicator that the owner was going to do nothing to find a solution or refund our money. We paid $800 for this? What a bargain!

You have to keep a VERY CLOSE eyeon these movers.your belonging may not all "show-up" wherever you have them move your possessions.

This review is over one year late but I think it is necessary to insure others know what they are getting themselves into. I saw the great Yelp ratings, so gave Discount Movers a call to move me from Vista to Carmel Valley. I was specifically looking for a company that hooked up washer and dryers since some don't do so. John the manager told me his company does so, but on the day of the move he retracted this AFTER the move was in process and because his movers balked.

Aside from that, the following problems also occurred: 1) A hot water hookup to the washer broke, and his guys could not find where the water turnoff valve was in the house. Spent over an hour trying to figure that out, on my dime, while water gushed out all over the garage. 2) A large piece of glass that protected the top of a dresser was mistakenly left at the house I was moving away from. 3) The movers did me a "favor" and agreed to hook up my washer and dryer at the new house.

But they hooked up the hot water to the cold intake, and vice versa. They also did not hook up the dryer vent, so I had to call another company to fix this. 4) My two queen beds did not "feel" right upon laying on them. When I looked under the beds, both had parts missing that held the bedframes up. 5) I am not sure if the problems I encountered were specific to the moving team I was assigned, but it was a bad experience. I noticed that a couple days before the move, the team lead assigned to my move was changed, so maybe the "A" team was assigned to someone else and I was given the "F" team?

These young kids showed up 2 hours late, then took them another 30 minutes to get started. I requested 4 guys, they sent 3. I caught 1 of the guys out front of my building talking on his cell phone while I'm paying him to wrap and move my furniture. They damaged an expensive credenza because they didn't wrap it properly and were basically not careful.

They argued with me about moving a $17,000 sofa, they wanted to shove it in an elevator that was too small. Anyone with an ounce of common sense could tell it wouldn't fit. It's been 3 month since my move and they still haven't returned my phone calls about being compensated for the damaged they did to my credenza. I would NOT recommend this company

I've been using discount movers for at least 15 years and I've never ever had a bad experience! They have moved myself and family members at least 15 times. Kyle was the head mover and he's the best! If you saw what he got in the truck it was unbelievable! It was my daughters move and she isn't the most organized person but Kyle never once complained or said anything negative.

At the end there was so much more to get on the truck and he did it! Unreal! I'm also in Real Estate and I recommend our clients to use them and I've never heard of a bad experience! Thanks to John and James in the office also excellent customer service! Thanks guys!

First I want to thank the movers Jacob and Allan for there help. The guys worked so hard and were very careful with everything. It was a three hour drive and they kept in touch with my husband on their time line which put our minds at ease. Then they had to put everything in the new apartment again with no complaints. After they were done they had that three hour drive back to San Diego.

That's a long day so try to remember that these guys work hard. Second I want to thank John for all his help. Answered all my questions and gave me a very far quote I think for all that needed to be done in a day. I talked to 'John' after talking to a few other moving companies who charged more, and didn't have 3 men & lots of X-tra charges. Plus they take debit or Credit Cards ( Why not? ) When others only took Cash or Money orders. Easiest move I ever set up. I will give another review after my move this month. Shelley Malone

Why is moving so stressful? These guys really made my life easier by just getting it done. Very helpful and friendly, experienced movers. On time, had all the supplies, easygoing. I've moved a couple of times in the past few years and have used Discount Movers. James stays in touch with you and confirms the days before. Very professional.

After wrecking 3 stairs and a landing at my previous house by dropping my Thomasville chest of drawers 3 months ago. denting scraping and, removing stain from the chest, along with destroying an antique chair I witnessed a worker dragging it across metal patio furniture, I finally heard back from their supervisor, John. I had sent him a bill to repair my chest as best it could be done.

I had to throw away the antique chair. He said he'd about pay 60 cents a pound to cover my damaged furniture. $120.00. He gave $400 to the owner of the damaged stairs. Their only option is to cover the stairs with carpet. It cost me $450 to get my chest "somewhat" back to normal. Today John has the nerve to say because I wrote a previous review about them in YELP he was going to charge me for some boxes and refused to give me a dime for damages. AGAIN, AVOID EVER THINKING ABOUT USING DIscount Movers! They are not a company you can count on for anything!

This company is top notch! Starting with my first call with John, they offer great prices, excellent customer service, movers showed up on time with all needed supplies and had a great attitude! I will DEFINITELY use again, the best moving company I've ever used! Thanks for making a difficult move a lot easier.

Hired this company to move my 84 year old mother from her 1 bedroom apartment to a similar apartment just down the street. They moved most of her things, took payment, and told her they would be back at 9 am the next day to finish the job. They never showed up to finish the job. When I called the manager to discuss the situation he recommended I get some boxes and finish the job myself. I would not recommend using this company.

Discount Movers stuff are friendly and professional. They pack my furnitures including beds, sofas, dining set and other items safely and move them carefully from the old house to the new house. They have disassembled and assemble them too. I am happy with their service and recommend them. Thank you so much Kyle, the lead person including Drake and Allen.

I am a local home stager and unexpectedly needed a house emptied and inventory put in my storage before Friday. Even though they were very booked the worked me into the schedule this afternoon. Excellent customer service, prompt, courteous, careful and worked quickly. The prices are very reasonable. Definitely will be part of my business partners.

I had an excellent experience with Discount Movers. I hired a two-man team to move me out of an apartment in San Diego (third floor, no elevator) up to an apartment in LA (with a pretty big walk from the freight elevator to the unit). They got the whole move done in under six hours! The team was friendly (without being TOO friendly) and helpful, and the rate was well below what I was quoted elsewhere. I moved during COVID-19, and the movers wore masks and took necessary precautions. Highly recommend!

WOW! I am BEYOND impressed with this moving company. From every phone interaction to the speediness (and friendliness) of the movers on the day-of, everything was 5 stars. The guys even lugged all my stuff up 3 flights of stairs when the elevator was being used by someone else. They were awesome! I'll never use another moving company. THANK YOU AGAIN!

Discount movers are amazing! I got a quick quote on yelp, a more detailed quote on the phone, and paid a little over the quoted price due to drive time (long distance move from SD to Thousand Oaks). They were definitely worth it. They made my move so much easier and less stressful. James and Matt took such good care of all my stuff. They were very professional and incredibly helpful.

They took great care of me. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone for a move. I even recommended them to a friend after my move and they got awesome service as well. I will definitely be using them again in the future for any of my moving needs.

I was very impressed by these guys. The person I spoke with wanted a basic inventory to assess the right amount of time for the move. They showed up on time and moved my two-bedroom townhouse out and within the 3 hours they quoted. Very hard working, reliable and overall a bunch of really good guys. I would absolutely use them again!

I recently hired Discount Movers twice. Each time, the guys who showed up to help were friendly (but not that creepy, overly-friendly that you get sometimes), professional and SO FAST. Ashton, Kyle, and their teams were WONDERFUL. The only reason this is not a 5-star review is that both times, there were problems with the truck. The first time, I had to be rescheduled to the following day, and the second time the guys had to move all of my 2-bedroom apartment's worth of stuff from one truck to another. They handled it so well, even in the heat of summer, and ended up getting us a discount on our rate. Overall, I would probably still hire these guys again.

We just had Discount movers move us from San Carlos to Mt Helix. First off they arrived exactly on time! 3 movers came, and in 2 hours they had the heavy contents of our house loaded up. Now the real trick was delivery in Mt Helix. These guys are the best. They had to wheel & roll everything down a steep driveway since they could not drive the truck down.

I 2 hours they had placed all of the items in the how in their proper places. WOW! They were professional, friendly and most of all had a great attitude! Don't bother looking for another mover in San Diego. Call Discount Movers of San Diego for your next move!
