Everything went fine up through the survey. Then after they sent me the quote, they stopped answering their phone and email for three days. Then after finally becoming responsive again, I was told that they wouldn't be able to do the move on the previously-agreed date of Saturday, April 2 and would have to move to April 4, costing me half a workday.
The two guys who showed up for the move did their best, but were not physically fit for the job and struggled mightily with it; one of them injured himself. Made an already inherently stressful day that much worse.

My first big move went well thanks to a lot of customer service from Lori and Eric, answering all my many questions about cubesheets, times, dates, etc., and dealing with a city to city move. We were glad to have the actual driver come to load and shuttle our stuff rather than a local crew and would highly recommend that.

I enjoyed my move day! I had excellent support from Lori my move coordinator beforehand in prepping and signing move documents. Lori was calm and procedural in helping us get ready. Ken and Scott were like Enlightened moving partners, funny, professional. I watched them do the impossible. Clearly not their first rodeo. They were a rare and unusual mix of personable, helpful and disarming. Everything was done so fast, I almost wanted more time just to hang out with them.! Bravo!

While our move was an extremely difficult one due to personal reasons, the McLaughlin team did a wonderful job. They not only helped us with our move but also provided much needed emotional support. Our driver, Ken was truly awesome! Our move coordinator Lori was tremendous, answering all our questions in a timely manner. Thank you McLaughlin team for doing a great job

I am so pleased with my decision to hire McLaughlin Transportation for my move from CT to CA. My interactions with Alan and Lori were very positive and they both helped to make the process seamless. The 4-man crew arrived on time, which was great! They were all professional, courteous, took great care and we're very respectful in the handling of my property. Did I mention how expeditiously the team moved all of my things onto the truck! Looking forward to more of the same on the other end!

We have used McLaughlin twice now and both times were excellent experiences. The guys (3 movers) showed up earlier than promised, busted their humps all day moving us from one place to another, and did so with a friendly and personable experience. We had no damage to anything and everything was placed where we needed it to be. Our destination had multiple flights of stairs and tight doorways and the guys got everything in with no damage to anything - not our furniture/belongings, the walls, floors - nothing!
And they completed earlier than planned as well. And Lori was a pleasure to deal with. The only reason for deducting one star is because the survey was a little painful being virtual - the app kept dropping signal so it made it difficult to get through. No real fault of McLaughlin, but they should look into a less bandwidth intensive app going forward.
And they were a little expensive. I guess you get what you pay for as we've no complaints with the service whatsoever! But they did come in a little higher than others we quoted. We still chose to go with them as we had a great experience using them previously and had high hopes of another successful move with them. We're glad we chose them and would (and have) recommend them to anyone planning a move.

Our experience started very well and has ended terribly. The estimator (Al) who came to our house was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel like we were in good hands. The packers did a good job, and the loaders were also very nice and helpful. The other end of our move out of state was terrible and remains unresolved. The crew Mclaughlin hired on the unload end were terrible.
Even the driver/crew chief said they were terrible even though they were his responsibility. They damaged several walls and several piece of furniture. The driver documented the damage and said that Mclaughlin would make it right. Right now, almost two months after the move, the company rep is claiming that they cannot find someone to fix the walls (we live in a major city with dozens of possible companies to use).
They are now refuting the damage their driver documented himself! It is a shame that Al, Lori, and the crew at the start of this move were so good, only to have the company use terrible workers on the other end, and attempt to stall fixing the damage they caused. Apparently the hundreds of dollars insurance I paid means nothing. I would never use this company again for any type of move.

Would leave zero stars if I could. They lied to me several times regarding our move. Ignored my calls until my girlfriend called from a different number then answered. Totally ruined our move across the country. Cancelled day of the move. I've never met more unexperienced people in my life. How they are still in business marvels me.

DO NOT USE McLaughlin Transportation. I give them one star but that is only because you can not rate negative stars. The moving company had parts of shipment stolen from their warehouse, lost damaged or destroyed about $10,000 dollars worth of my goods, and treated my belongings worse than a bull treats a china shop. I am absolutely disgusted with their service and would recommend anyone considering utilizing McLaughlin Transportation visit a psychologist to ensure they haven't gone crazy.

HORRIBLE MOVE - EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE Although I paid for wardrobe boxes, none were in the truck; I was told they didn't arrive in time so the clothes would be placed in boxes when the truck went back. Same for the missing mattress box. NOT! My clothes were literally tossed into the truck - I have a photo & will try to post. Michael McLaughlin clearly didn't care.so I wrote the Pres & CEO of Mayflower. who quickly & appropriately responded to my letter (with copies of Michael's emails + photos of the pile of clothes). AVOID THIS COMPANY!

I honestly haven't the foggiest idea how anyone can give this company more than a one star. McLaughlin Moving Co. was contracted for packaging services for my military move from Maine to California. They arrived two hours late, entered my home without knocking, introducing themselves, or giving an explanation for their tardiness. Their lead rep on the job, Jason, got into a verbal dispute with the contracted driver over whose responsibility it was to load the moving truck.
In a fit of anger, the McLaughlin movers dropped my unwrapped, white mattress in the dirt behind my house. Within seconds, Jason poked his head inside my entryway and told his team of two guys to get in the truck because they were leaving despite the fact that the job was not done. Perplexed, I ran after Jason who yelled at me that he "would not be verbally harassed" by the driver and "nor would he let his team be." I asked him to reconsider his decision to leave since they were about 3/4 of the way done, and I had to check out of my apartment that evening and begin my long cross country drive that night. Jason turned back at me, put his finger within inches of my faces, and yelled "no" at me.
He proceeded to his trunk, started it, and as he was trying to get his team inside the truck, I grabbed a paper and pen to jot down his name, the company's phone number, and collect a business card. The McLaughlin team drove away without finishing the job, leaving me to finish packaging and carrying out my own items with the driver. I felt completely victimized for something I had no part in.
I have contacted McLaughlin Moving Co. twice since the incident last week and they have yet to return my phone calls or voicemail. I hope this review will discourage anyone from utilizing McLaughlin Moving Co., especially military members. I have reported them to the local household good authority and the DOT in the hope that there will be a suspension in their services for future military movers.

As a veteran I have moved eight times, these guys are in charge of my ninth move and the service is absolutely horrendous. Left the first day job not completed and said they'd let the driver (luckily not with McLaughlin) know there was some work to do. Half the house is what they left, they told the driver that it was just a "few boxes" - needless to say my pack one day/load the next day became a pack one day/pack another day/sit around for five hours while labor who was supposed to here at 8AM to show on the third day.
I will update my review if I am ever actually loaded. Hands down the worst moving experience I have ever had. You would be better off and it would be a lot less of a headache renting a truck, picking up some day labor and moving yourself. I really wish I could rate lower than one star.

I had a military move with this company and it was smooth sailing. They came on time, boxed up my 2 bedroom house in just about 5 hours; it would have been less time but there was only two guys due to the fact that the third guy was sick. They tagged everything properly and double checked their work. They were respectful of my things and my home. I would be happy to use this company again. The staff was very friendly and professional.

If I could rate this company a zero-star I would. I do NOT recommend using their services. We had agreed for the movers to arrive at 10 am. When they didn't show up we had to call and ask what went wrong. They didn't even bother to inform us that they would be late. The appointment was moved to 2 pm, but guess what? They didn't show up again and did NOT call us either. Finally, the movers arrived at 5 pm. 7 hours after the scheduled time!
Since my dad had to wait for the movers he ended up missing the 2:30 pm bus to NYC and was late to an international flight from JFK. All because of the company's unprofessional approach. Do NOT waste your time, money, and nerves on their terrible service!

I see that others have had good experiences with these people. We did not. The guy in charge, Bob, wasn't a good organizer so a small apartment took 7 hours to get onto the truck. On the other end, worse news. Bob, because he had left several deep scratches in the floor of the apartment we were leaving, put down blankets--not a great surface to walk on.
The helpers had removed 2 of them after sliding on them. Yes, I slipped and fell on one. Bruises still, a week later. But the real problems were that Bob didn't wrap ANYTHING, although we were told that was part of the process. We were also told that our stuff would not be moved from truck to truck--how then to explain the extra box we were given.
If you are missing box M50541-169, please get in touch. We told the company 4 days ago. Not a word from them. In closing, we have moved several times, including twice across country. Never have we had such a negative experience as we did with Bob and Mclaughlin Moving.

Please - do not use this company if you don't want to have to fight with them over excess costs after the fact. Also the guy that did our move lost our little lifts that balance our glass for our entertainment center and he actually tried to say that I had them when in fact he had them at our home of origin - he tried to blame me several times.
The actual move was fine other than that, but after the fact they are trying to bill us for "extra cartons" they are saying they had to use during the move - which they didn't. We watched them very carefully the entire time they were in our house and they did not use any extra cartons - they are now saying we had large pictures and used 3 picture cartons - we don't even have any large pictures - I even told them to come to our house and see!
Plus they could look at the inventory they took prior to the move to prove it. We paid them over $4,000 for this move and now they are trying to charge us an additional $150 for "extra" boxes. I don't think so! Nice try - rip off artists.

I paid extra to have a glass top table crated. When the crate was opened there was a large chip taken out of the table where the person that crated it pounded a nail into the crate! The company took no responsibility for it, and claimed it was our fault for not insuring it properly. We got $60.00 for it, and I had to ask for the crate fee to be deducted! Very cocky attitude toward customer service. I would not recommend.
