Updating our review of recent move. Smooth Move it was not! My dad suddenly lost his sister before the movers showed and had to get to AZ quick because he needed to make arrangements for her burial. I volunteered to help supervise the move. The foreman, Oscar, started by arriving after 2:30pm Sunday to an 11am given time. Asked me sign some papers and I had questions, so I called my mom. Oscar threatened to stop loading the truck.

He was also calling her and didn't even speak to her about the actual issue of insurance. After all paperwork was signed, Oscar wanted me to complete the satisfaction survey before the move was completed. I refused to complete it early and he told his men to take everything off the truck. They unloaded the whole truck, spilling boxes, put large heavy ones on top of smaller ones causing them to spill, etc.

They left clumps of sod in the house. I called the office and Oscar refused to talk to man on phone because he wasn't his boss (SAM). Office man called Sam and told him reload truck. They did. Oscar came back and said that there must have been some misunderstanding. He also helped take the valence down. They packed my mom's electric fireplace in a box and loaded it on its side dumping all the decorative rocks in the bottom of the box and on the carpet.

I forgot to get photos of the load before they closed the door and didn't take footage of the whole thing transpiring. Called their office Monday and spoke to a woman and explained it to her. She thought that Sam was just in a hurry that day and assured me that the delivery man would be more professional. The delivery guy showed up in AZ and told my parents he had never seen such damaged boxes before and had even taken a picture before he drove off, because of all the damage. YES, there was a LOT of damage. Oscar needs to either be let go or have some customer service training.

In the future, they should have someone in the office explain the paperwork over the phone on the day of move if Oscar doesn't want to deal with it. This was already a stressful time for my parents and it was made even more stressful with how badly the move was handled. Consumer BEWARE! Thank you to the gentleman in the office on the phone who contacted Sam. Thank you to the lady on the phone who listened to my calm and quiet explanation of what transpired. Thank you to the delivery driver who was very understanding in AZ.

Not happy! The foreman, Oscar, was not reasonable. My dad's sister passed just before scheduled move and they needed to get on the road before the movers arrived. We called the office and arranged for daughter to supervise the move while we parents drove on ahead to make final arrangements for body. Oscar kept threatening to unload truck and leave every time he was questioned about anything that daughter was signing.

The daughter signed the agreed to increase in move expenses. She questioned the insurance and was asking for clarification, but Oscar was threatening to stop move once again. At one point the truck was almost fully loaded and since daughter would not complete the final questionnaire on how the move was and put what Oscar wanted, Oscar made them unload the truck, dropped boxes, and was about to drive away.

Daughter had office on phone and Oscar would not speak to office man on phone because Sam was his boss. Daughter wanted to speak with Sam on phone and Oscar wouldn't let her. Finally, office guy got ahold of Sam and made him speak with daughter. Oscar had to reload truck and apologize for misunderstanding. Customer satisfaction survey was not good.

Could have been better if he would have been more reasonable and understanding. This was all over Oscar making someone sign for stuff he should've waited till job was complete. Hoping they aren't one of those companies that jack up the price and hold your belongings hostage once they reach final destination until they get paid extra. Ugh! This was a nightmare on top of loosing a loved one.

Daughter used University Movers for two local moves and never had this kind of problem or experience. She has also moved out of state with other move companies several times and still never had this kind of poor service. Consumer beware.

A picture says a thousand words, my belonging packed into the truck. Hope you can see the pictures what kind of packing did they do. If you use this company you will regret it believe me. Then their first words are read the contract when you complain. They have no compassion for you or your belongings. You better think TWICE. Would of gave them a -5 stars

I originally was going to use mayflower, they quoted us $4000 to move from Chicago to southern California, then we called smooth movers for a 2nd quote and it was almost half the price so we jumped on it without looking at reviews, but as an afterthought we did, and we saw some bad reviews, but every company has some bad reviews, sometimes competitor's post them, some are real, but because the price was half we were Leary and almost canceled.

Thank God we didnt, George, our salesman was so nice and made us believe everything was on the up and up, he answered all our questions, he returned all our worrisome calls, and Tanya the dispatcher was also a patient blessing, we called her a lot to, and she was so sweet, calm, reassuring, those 2 people made a great experience for us. The movers were very very nice, hard working, went through our entire list of items.

After they left we thought we were missing some items, and Tanya was very nice, took our report, but then we ended up finding everything, I'm so glad we used them and saved $2000! Lesson is, trust the people you talk to, use your gut, address any negative reviews and you can tell if someone is taking you for a ride. Smooth Movers did an excellent job, and they wrapped all of our delicate stuff perfectly!
