Zip Cubes

We've been using Zipcubes for years. You get a huge amount of space for a very affordable rate, and since there isn't open access to the cubes, it's extremely secure. Be sure to pack your things well, though, because they do move the cubes around at the warehouse. The only drawback is that they don't leave the cube at your location for loading. You have to load while the driver waits, so you have to be quick. If you visit their facility though, you can take all the time you need.

I requested a quote online, and the website said a team member would follow up with a quote. They never did, and so I called and left messages three times. I never heard back. Same thing happened with SmartBox. No clue what happened or why these two establishments aren't interested in additional business. Instead, I went with PODS and had a fantastic experience. Prompt customer service and fair prices.

Seems there was a communication/expectation issue. My expectation were I would receive my contract docs within a few hours of speaking with them as the delivery was less than a week away. After my Sunday email asking where the docs were, (which they probably did not see till Monday), I received them Monday afternoon. Andrew called to follow up immediately after seeing my review.

Proper customer service. Their website ordering system still needs to be addressed. I am not the only customer who ordered on-line, right down to the credit card, who's order disappeared. I would recommend you not use the website and just call them. They were very responsive on the phone. My apologies to Andrew for the poor communication mishap.

These guys were great to work with many years back when I needed storage. They came, I loaded, they left. Super simple. I was able to easily schedule appointments at their warehouse in Hayward to see my stuff. I would definitely recommend this service.

We reserved a ZipCube online -- we got the email saying the reservation process isn't confirmed until they get in touch to iron out details, and that we should expect to hear from them within 24 hours. Nine days later and I haven't heard from them. I've called 4 times on different days at different times, left a voicemail but no return call.

I also sent an email, again no reply. Perhaps they're busy? We can't wait to confirm, we're booking with a competitor. Too bad, the reviews and price look great!

All the positive reviews are true. I changed my mind twice about what size storage I wanted, and it was a hassle-free experience with every request I made. Their pricing is very reasonable and straight forward with no hidden fees. They drop off the pod on a weekday and pick it up on a weekday, and they do their best to accommodate your requests. If you're in the Bay Area, and need a storage solution, you can't go wrong with zip cubes.

Easy booking, great price, and excellent customer service! We brought my things to the facility in San Leandro and they had my ZipCube open and a new lock waiting for me on time. Queen bed, large dresser, side tables, and 15+ bags/boxes fit easily in a small cube. Thank you!

SIMPLY THE BEST. If you are looking for a cube / storage, that comes to your house, there is NO BETTER option. I did all the research. Called all the places. Agonized about a seemingly simple decision. You can benefit from what I did and start at the end: Call ZipCubes. In short, the experienceis - you call zipcubes - you talk to a human, locally. they answer your questions - you pick a cube size - it gets dropped off in front of your house. NO PERMITS. NO NOTHING. It's on wheels, so no permits needed. - you fill it - they come and get it, store it safely at their business - (we didn't do this: when you want access, you can get access at their business) - when you want it back, you call them, they bring it back - you empty it (or just get what you need) - you call them, they come get it You pay a flat fee per month. NOTHING hidden.

All of the above is included, including when they take the cube back and forth. THIS IS SIMPLY A BETTER MODEL. Finally, they're just super nice. Super accommodating. Super patient.

Zipcube storage's customer service consistenly exceeds my expectations since I rented their cubes early last year. I have gone back to the storage and pick up/ drop off things quite a few times, and sometimes I stayed after their hours, they were still waiting for me to finish up patiently. Alex, the manager of the storage, also helped me lift things out of and put back to the cubes a few times. A great storage partner to have!

Night and day from pods. These guys are real and took so much time setting up my move with me. Walked me through the process and were dependable. Called me in the morning and let me know they were on the way. Was on time. I needed two cubes for my large one bedroom for my daughter and I. I also like how clean they are. Moving sucks. This made it stress free honestly

We ordered three cubes. Each delivery of the empty cube and then drop off of the cubes after my move was easy to coordinate with these folks. They are very easy to work with, cubes were in great condition and my stuff was kept dry and in great condition. Would recommend this company.

It is incredible that a company that wants to earn business and inspire trust can be so terrible at customer service. Three days ago, I called ZipCubes and left a message. This morning, two days after leaving them a message, I sent them another message via their OWN website. I still have not heard back from them. If a company wants to be trusted, they should at least contact customers who they have yet to earn.

How could anyone trust a company such as this with their belongings. What if I had already paid them and wanted to access my belongings. Terrible service and I would not ever do business with this organization.

Great price and half as much work as moving to a self storage unit. Jeff and Alex were both great. Talked to Jeff on the phone and got prices from him before booking the cubes. I originally booked two cubes because it's hard to anticipate how much stuff will fit. And the cubes were smaller than other self storage units I was looking at (the calculators on those sites were telling me I needed at least 10'x10'). Turned out everything fit into one 8'x5'x7' cube, so they didn't charge me for the second one.

I definitely would be paying 2-3 times more with any other option (and I would have more space than I knew what to do with). Alex showed up on time and helped organize and move stuff with us. They allot 1.5 hours/cube and we were definitely within that time (they had allotted 3 hours because of the two cubes. I think it only took us one hour). Both Alex and Jeff were super helpful.

My only criticism was that I never got an actual confirmation email about the booking. Sounds like those guys work really hard and are out onsite a lot of the time (they also said they were one man down) so it's must have just slipped through the cracks. That being said, when I called to remind them to send a confirmation email, they had all my info and appointment booking info.

So just because I didn't get an email didn't mean they forgot about me. Will update when I move somewhere and they deliver it to me. Hopefully it will be just as painless.

I just got my furniture back after storing with zip cubes for year and a half. I must say dealing with Jeff and everyone at zip cubes has been an amazing experience. They are professional, polite, and honest. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to store anything for any length of time. My furniture came back clean and pretty much just the way I packed it. If I could I would give them 10 stars!

I will give props to Jeff & Zip Cube for a fast response on a quote request that I made online over the weekend. The price is very inviting but the fact that they do not service the area that I am moving to is why I only gave 2 stars. Their website says " Perfect for local and long distance moves". My wife and I are moving less than 100 miles south of the East Bay. We are not moving across state line or to the East Coast or our Federal boarders.

Awesome service. Friendly staff. Went far and beyond of what was expected. What else can a gal ask for. If you looking for storage and in between moves this is you solution. Thanks zip cubes

These guys have fantastic customer service! The company normally requires 48 hour notice to access your storage unit, but Alex was kind enough to let me drop off stuff with less than an hour notice. He went above and beyond and don't know what I would have done otherwise! Thank you zip cubes, you guys rock!

Flexible, patient and cost effective! I had a family crisis which resulted in me needing to move to Atlanta from the Bay Area, CA on short notice. My move was completely disorganized and I called ZipCubes (Alex) at least 5 times as I tried to figure out how to get my belongings back to Atlanta. I finally decided to have my things shipped to Atlanta after I left California, so ZipCubes worked with Joan (professional organizer) who supervised my move, emptied my apartment in CA, turned in my apt keys, etc.

My original move date had rain in the forecast (and it did rain that day). ZipCubes called me to suggest we reschedule - THANK YOU! It would have be horrible to have my things rained on. I priced ZipCubes along with several other "national" pod moving companies and I found ZipCubes to be the most flexible and cost effective. Since I was totally new to this concept, I will describe my process: - ZipCubes arrived at my Public Storage unit - Movers that I hired separately moved my items into the ZipCubes (I had two) - My items were sent to a warehouse in SF, CA and loaded unto a truck a few days later - My items arrived in Atlanta at SmartBox (the "local affiliate") within about 10 days - SmartBox coordinated bringing my items to my new place - I kept my SmartBoxes for three weeks at no additional cost (I was told that they can't guarantee this amount of flexibility) I paid about 1/3 of the cost of long haul movers = savings of approx $7k.

When compared to the national pod companies I saved about $500 - $1k using ZipCubes. I could not believe I saved this much money! Thank you ZipCubes for your excellent customer service and cost savings!

Way exceeded my expectations. I packed and staged all my stuff the day before the move. Zip dude arrived on time, surveyed the situation, and then directed the 3 guys I hired from the San Francisco Day Labor Program for 2 1/2 hours while I tied up loose ends. I didn't expect to get a Move Director along with the $95 delivery charge for 2 cubes. It's great to have someone who knows what they're doing to help you out at a stressful time.

One thing I didn't realize was that the boxes don't come off the flatbed when you're loading. So you have to dolly (provided) your items up a ramp from the ground into the cube. I'lll post a followup in a couple of months when I unbox.

I signed up with Alex, who made joining Zipcubes a very smooth process. I wasn't sure how long I'd need a storage space, so I just went with month-to-month. When I got there, I'd forgotten to bring a padlock, but it was no problem- he had a brand new Master Lock for sale. To stage my condo for potential renters, I hauled a bunch of junk to ZipCubes. Jeff and Alex are pretty flexible, as long as you give them advance notice so that they can actually get your cube onto the ground (all the cubes are arranged like stacked shipment containers).

They are very accessible by phone. I had to go once or twice a week, so they were able to position my cube in a more accessible area. At the end, I arranged for my cube to be sent to my new home in Marin County. Jeff was great! He had a great hand truck that was much better than my dinky dolly, so I borrowed that when transporting stuff from the cube. He's such a friendly and honest guy- someone you'd trust with your possessions.

I was really happy with my ZipCubes experience. The facility is secure and has security cams. Even when I was alone, I felt very safe in the facility. I also noticed that there were other women doing their storage activities, too.
