BACKLIGHT In 1937 most of Arlington County's businesses were of the service variety: grocery stores, laundries, etc. Entrepreneur Roderick Henderson Sr.'s business was sevice-driven, and then some. Henderson's got started on 1317 N. 19th St. in Rosslyn, in 1927, delivering ice and coal to Northwest Washington.
We are celebrating our 77th year of service. Most likely we have performed a service at your facility or you have seen our trucks in the area. Henderson's has a full service warehouse located just minutes from downtown Washington, DC. No matter what your storage needs Henderson's can accommodate you. We used Henderson's Moving company so we could store some of our furniture to declutter our home in hopes of selling it. This moving company was recommended by our listing agent who worked out "a deal" for us where we didn't have to pay a storage fee, just a moving fee. What a terrible "deal" we got. The movers nickel and dimes us, damaged the ceilings in our home, broke some of our stuff and we are almost certain returned our bed mattress along with the box spring filled with roaches. Whatever you do, DO NOT go with this company!

Henderson's Moving Service moved me 250 miles from Alexandria to Pittsburgh. I moved from one 2 bedroom apartment to another. After I first called Anthony, he arrived right on time to assess my particular needs (the size van required, number of pads, items needing delicate handling. etc.). Anthony and his 3 men arrived on July 31st, as he promised. Anthony was even considerate enough to call to say he was running.a little late.
After he arrived, he and his men had all my things safely padded and loaded in much less time than I thought it would take. He arrived at my new residence the next morning, August 1st, at 8:00 just like he said he would. Once again, he and his men safely moved my belongings to the top floor of my new apartment building. They had no problem dealing with having to load and unload everything on the elevators.
I cannot speak highly enough of Anthony and the great guys who work for him. Moving is stressful to begin with, and can be made much more so if you don't have a wonderful group of people helping you. I am extremely impressed by their efficiency, courtesy and professionalism. I wanted to find a quality mover and, in so doing, I also found quality people. Thank you again, Anthony and Henderson's Moving Service!

Henderson's moving service is exceptional! My family has moved 3 times and I've hired Henderson's to move to a condo, townhouse and single family home and find the staff to be courteous, friendly and flexible. It comes to no surprise that they've been in business for over 3/4 of a century. I also utilized their services in a commercial setting moving office equipment and storage and know that their team is professional and efficient. I highly recommend calling Anthony for your moving and storage needs. Thank you, Henderson's for all you've done for me.

The worst move ever! It took them 9 hours to move a 2 bedroom condo 10 min away to a townhouse. Two years ago I moved from a 3 level townhome to the 2 bedroom condo which was 45 minutes away and the move only took 5 hours (I also had more things during the prior move). When the guys arrived, they said I hope you aren't moving to a 3 or 4 level townhome.
I confirmed that I was. They are movers. Even if they don't want to do stairs, they should never express this to the customer. The estimated time to move was 5 hours and I expressed my dissatisfaction with the owner. He stated that the loading dock was far away from the elevator. Then when he came to my house to fix the scratched wood furniture, he stated that his guys said it took a long time to move me because my things weren't packed and I had clothes everywhere and I was not ready to move.
A TOTAL LIE! All of my things were packed and the things I didn't pack were in a room with the door closed and I told them not to move them. Which they did not. The owner made it clear that he believed his guys and that he was not going to do anything to rectify the situation. No refund for broken dishes. This moving company is the worst and I will NEVER use them again. I advise you not to as well.

I moved in May 2008. After I paid the three guys and tipped each $20 and they left, I said to myself "hey, where's my gorgeous limited edition artwork? I called immediately and the owner didn't seem to care. I kept calling to see if they'd "found" my art in the truck or at another stop. NO luck. They also damaged my Scandi dresser. For that, he sent out a repair guy.
But I never heard an apology or an offer of restitution for the missing piece of art--which was worth $500. I really miss it. It would look great in the bedroom. I highly recommend having someone with you to inventory stuff coming and going. Moving day is too much for one person.

We used Henderson's last year to move our small 1 BR apartment locally. They sent a 3 man team that was very unprofessional. They took 7 hours to load the truck, drive it to our new place, and unload it. This was a move from Arlington to Vienna, approximately 15 miles, and both locations were easier to work in than most. Everything was completely packed ahead of time and they did no unpacking at the destination.
It took that long because they would vanish for up to 30 minutes every time they took a load to the truck and were witnessed standing around the truck smoking on more than one occasion. The estimate was for 3-4 hours. Anthony Henderson quickly stopped responding to our emails after we detailed our complaints and none of them were ever resolved. There are enough movers around, my advice would be to find another one. The experience was a nightmare for us, we were hoping to avoid the stress of moving everything ourselves but ended up with even more of a headache.
