I had a terrible experience. To start, the movers were upset and felt that they were set up because they weren't scheduled to do the job. They couldn't move the items that I had requested - washer dryer, refrigerator and stove. It took them 3 hours to move 11 items. They worked very slow and my furniture was dragged and scratched. Nothing was covered.
To top it off, Bill the owner was suppose to come and see the damages and never bothered to show up or to cancel. 1 hour after our appointment, I texted him and he said he was short handed and couldn't make it. $360 and I have to hire another set of movers to finish the work! What a disappointment!

I had such a great experience with BP Movers! Our move involved multiple stops and three separate Chicago high rises, and BP Movers made it look easy. The crew arrived on time, and they were very quick but also careful. The cost came out below what I was quoted, and there was no damage to our furniture or belongings. Everything you hope for when using a moving company. I will definitely use BP Movers again!

I had a wonderful experience with BP Movers. I've moved three times in three years locally and opted to bail on the movers I had use previously because they had broken multiple items and charged an arm and a leg. I found BP pricing to be incredibly fair and their moving team exceptionally professional. I was also most pleased with how accommodating they were able to be with scheduling.
Our most recent move was a headache from a closing perspective and kept getting pushed back. BP was understanding and accommodating with our ever changing situation. In the end, we received our items on time and in one piece! The team was clean, respectful, on time and efficient. I would definitely use them again.

As others in these comments have suggested, you'd do best to look elsewhere when choosing a moving company. Having moved 5 times in the past 7 years I've had good and bad experiences with movers. More often than not, some things will get a little dinged up and you're not likely to start/end precisely on time. It's almost inevitable. However, BP Movers was far and away the worst that I've dealt with, and I write now to review them because their ongoing refusal to right their wrongs is beyond anything I've seen before.
A few months ago, I helped my roommate move. His review is below (see: Andrew B on 7/12/16). I was there and can attest that the movers showed up hours late, that initially we had to move a vast majority of the items out of his old apartment as a result of their tardiness, and that before the move he had two working TVs (he did not afterward and they remain broken as of this writing).
I have watched as Andrew has gone on for months attempting to have BP Movers fix or reimburse him for his TVs to no avail. To me, that is unacceptable. Customers do not pay for movers who cannot keep their scheduled times and who break their customer's possessions. But more importantly, no one should ever pay for a company that refuses to make amends for their blatant mistakes. I told him to use Dolly (uber for movers), and we both wish he would have listened.

I have used BP Movers no less than four times, and they have been excellent every time. I have recommended them to countless other people, and with the exception of Andrew B. (7/12/2016 review) everyone has loved them. I personally referred Andrew B. to BP Movers, and truth be told, I wish I hadn't done that to the company. With a husband and three small children, I have significantly more household items than Andrew B, and BP Movers has gone above and beyond the call of duty every time we have used them. I question the accuracy of Andrew B's review and find it very hard to believe that BP Movers bungled Andrew B's move to the extent he claims.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I have moved approximately 20 times in my life, cross country, cross states, different countries etc. Therefore I have some experience in this. I was living in a high-rise building in downtown Chicago. When you live in a building like that you are very limited on how long you can reserve an elevator and move in/out. I instructed BP Movers to be at my place by 1:30 p.m. for a move out between 2:00 - 4:00 pm and was very clear as to why they NEEDED to be on time.
They didn't show up until almost 3:30 (claiming there was very heavy traffic) forcing me to move everything out of my unit on my own. After the move in was complete at the new residence, the driver tried to over charge me the hourly rate by $15/hour/man! After unpacking, I found both my 42" and 55" TVs were broken and 2 of my tables were scratched pretty badly.
When I brought it up to the owner, I was told "something is not right here. I have been doing this 20 years and have never seen something like this before." He simply caused more drama and delays in an already stressful project. Over all they tried to over charge me, were 2 hours late, I did 1/2 the move on my own, they wanted full payment and were unhappy when I tried to ask for a discount for all this drama, they damaged 2 of my tables, and broke both my LED TVs.
Once I spoke with the owner, he tries to tell me that his movers "couldn't have done this." After over 2 weeks from my moving date, the owner finally was able to come to my new house to look at the damages. In our conversation he insisted that the damages weren't caused by his guys and continuously accused me of fraud. A company like this cannot be trusted.
They scam you for a higher hourly rate, lie about when they will be there, and then don't take care of their customers after a bunch of things get broken. After almost 2 months I finally have heard back from the owner of the company who is stating that the claim has been processed and they will not cover ANY of the damages. RUN AWAY GET A REAL MOVING COMPANY! Next time I will hire 2 people from craigslist who will do a better job!

DO NOT USE BP MOVERS. I was given their name by the Illinois movers association and will be reporting them promptly. I spoke with a representative (let's call him Bob) last Friday on the phone, and he verbally confirmed that he could move me today, July 1. I sent a confirmation email to Bob immediately upon hanging up on Friday and heard nothing back. Bob had said he would respond to my email while we were on the phone, and, when I hadn't heard back in 2 hours, I called him again to confirm that everything was still ok - he assured me that we were still on for July 1 and that he hadn't responded because he was on the truck.
On Monday, I still hadn't heard back and sent another email to Bob. When he hadn't responded after several hours, I called him again and he again confirmed we were all set for Friday. Bob then called me again on Tuesday and confirmed that he would be here on Friday between 1 and 3. Today is Friday, July 1, and I called Bob when I hadn't heard from him at 2pm.
At 2:15 I received a call from Bob that he had sent me several emails this morning and when I didn't respond he had cancelled my appointment. I know Bob has my email address because I emailed him TWICE in the past week and I haven't received a single email. When asked why he hadn't thought to call me after verbally confirming my appointment with me on TUES and speaking with me several times, he responded that he "didn't want to start pointing fingers." I gave him my email address over the phone and asked him to forward the multiple emails he supposedly sent to me as proof that they were actually sent, and I still haven't received anything. Now I'm stuck with no movers and have to be out of my apartment this afternoon. DO NOT USE BP MOVERS.

I sold a statue to someone from Craigslist. They hired BP movers to come onto my property to move the statue. This was a $6,500 limestone statue. BP movers broke the statue while they were moving it. BP movers said they were not responsible. I asked BP movers if we could file a claim through their insurance and they said that tecnically the statue never left my property so no they could not help me. I now have a broken statue that can't be replaced. I would be very careful hiring this company to move your items.

I might have given this business 2 stars, but the crew was excellent. My complaint with this business is that the bid was outrageously low and the cost of the move was at least 50% higher than quoted. My anger stems from the fact that the owner blamed me and said I added more stuff than originally stated. This was NOT true; he was incorrect in his estimation. And he wasn't accommodating with my concerns. The employees were prompt and excellent. Nothing broken, altho I still can't find my medications.

I met Bill and thought he was a great guy, I had no worries about my move. We confirmed the date on email and when the date arrived no trucks showed up. I called and he didn't apologize, I referenced the email and he said he had booked the trucks for us the following day. Didn't care we had two kids, a dog and ourselves to now find a place to stay that night and also furniture deliveries scheduled for early the next day, what was suppose to be our first day in the house.
The guys moving our stuff told us that this move worked better in their schedule because they were headed to a nearby town that day versus the previous day. They changed our move date to work within their schedule and did not tell us. I honestly would have been fine with it, if I had known up front and could plan for it. They also only sent 6 guys, we were quoted 5 and overcharged us. There are a lot of movers in Chicago that go out of state and inter city if you need them. Chose someone that is reliable and I hope you have better luck than we did.

I had an urgent and very complicated move in the worst weather possible and I could not have asked for a better result in a move, particularly given our timing. To start, our previous home was in a very long hallway with two sets of stairs to the freight elevator and timing was everything as we had one truck going to a smaller home, one going to storage and then an additional delivery of furniture to my sister's house 25 miles away.
The crew at BP did an amazing job getting me packed and moved despite the record low temperatures of negative air temperature and even more severe wind chill and snow. The crew worked tirelessly to get my move done in time so that we could close on the sale of our home. I highly recommend BP

I was a little hesitant after reading the negative reviews here but I had a very good experience with BP. I was moving from Chicago to LA with short notice, over the holidays to start a new job on Jan. 2nd. The BP team packed my items flawlessly (not even one broken glass) and had everything delivered to my new place earlier than deadline so I had plenty of time to settle in before I had to start work. They were quick, professional and incredibly affordable.

I've used these guys three times over eight years and have been generally pleased with their service. As another reviewer points out, the guys are pretty surly - the "hey how ya doin" variety of Smarmy Guy - but also very capable. The time estimate has always been accurate, and buying a few Gatorades for the guys ensures a happy crew and a bit of a break. Speaking of breaks, each of the times I've used BP, something minor has been damaged, but nothing compared to if my friends and I did it ourselves with a U-Haul and a promise of pizza. I've never thought to try and get compensated for any lost or damaged items, as nothing was all that important.
I see another reviewer did try and get compensated and got the run-around, so caveat emptor on that one. The other odd thing that happens when you use BP is that at least one of the guys will slip you their personal card to do moving on the side. On the whole, the guys are reliable, the price is fair (moving costs always seem a little high) and the company is responsive, even if their machismo always inspires me to drop my voice an octave and say things like, "Yeah, alright. You gots it."

HORRENDOUS! DO NOT USE BP MOVERS! Thousands of dollars of damaged furniture. They literally dropped and smashed things beyond repair, destroyed my $4000 hutch, ruined a $5000 sofa, damaged my $5000 dining room set, and crammed original artwork (that was supposed to be placed in boxes that I paid for) unwrapped in between garden tools! There are two many examples to list. Bill, the owner, missed two appointments to review the damage and has repeatedly failed to send the claim forms.
While Bill is horrible to clients, his crew will tell you that he is even worse to his employees (although I don't see how Bill could be any less pleasant than he was to me). As a result, he has a group of miserable movers who hate their jobs and do a crappy job. Movers who can get better jobs would not stay with Bill. Some of his better movers have worked with him multiple times, only coming back when they cannot find a "real" job.
Why not just hire a company with movers who can keep a real job!?! Don't be fooled by the low hourly rate! They more than make up for the low hourly rate by resting half of the team while the other half works. Double the hourly rate when comparing prices. With they way treat their customers, even if they did not damage furniture and overcharge, why hire people to treat you poorly?!?

BP movers have moved me twice now, and were recommended to me by a friend. I have been very happy with them. They are efficient and know what they're doing. Yes, they are all surly as the day is long, but for pity's sake--they are professional movers. If they weren't surly, I'd be concerned! Everything arrived safely and quickly.
The owner was very polite when I had to change my move time at the last minute (which seems to be common in Chicago!) They even did an extra favor for my landlady and moved some couches up from the basement for her. The total at the end matched up with the estimate I was given. I'd agree with Angela L that sometimes they took a little more on than seemed safe and I feared I would end up with a dead or at least injured mover on my stairwell. Otherwise, no complaints!
