Padded Wagon

Would highly discourage anyone from using padded wagon. They completed a move for me which went as planned - but charged me ~50% more than the detailed estimate they gave me after touring my apartment before. The total ended up being an absurdly high amount for my move. I had friends move out of state during early days of COVID for less than what they charged me to move a 2 bedroom uptown.

For background, I moved from a regular 1000 sqft. 2 bedroom downtown to the upper west side. Padded wagon sent an estimator to my apartment that gave me a quote of $2,700 (on the high end of competitors) which include 2 hours of packing by 2 people before hand. Company said "would be a 9-5 job", the move was completed by 6pm and they charged me nearly $4,000 (not including tip). Stuck me with all sorts of random charges beyond what they estimated including parking tickets they received.

I spent a long time trying to reconcile the bill with the company - they admitted they overcharged me a few hundred bucks at least but after reaching out to them many times they refused to send me a refund. Don't use padded wagon or believe the quote they give you - complete nonsense.

Use this company only if you want to be ripped off. The personnel are friendly and the crew seemed professional, but the estimate was incredibly high. At the end of two nerve-racking days, during with the crew worked seven hours the first day and six hours the second, I was handed something to sign. I thought that I was signing an estimate, but it turned out that I was okaying a final bill that stated the crew had worked ten hours each day.

At $350 per hour, I was overcharged almost $2500. Because my signature is on what turned out to be the bill, I am out of luck. Learn from my very expensive mistake. Don't use them.

Do not work with Padded Wagon under any condition. I was recommended by a design company who had used them in the past. Service started great. They sent someone over to survey the apartment and provide a quote. I asked if we needed four movers as other movers had recommended, but they assured us that three people were enough. Padded Wagon decided to send a team of a 70 year old, 52 year old, and 22 year old.

The supervisor showed up on time, but alone and tried to have me sign an agreement to pay for any parking tickets even though it was not part of the quote. Of course they parked in front of a fire hydrant. The rest of the team didn't arrive until 40 mins later. During the move, the team proceeded to damage the walls and floor. They also dropped our desk from the stairs and left our furniture out in the rain.

We also had to remind them that there was still furniture left in the apartment. Even worse, one of the movers ended up peeing all over the toilet and floor. Again, they denied everything. When they showed up to the new apt, they dropped the TV and denied it was their fault. They also damaged our dining room table and plants, but again not their fault.

When we checked the truck to make sure they didn't miss anything, it was clear they had been smoking weed in the truck. They actually admitted this. The Padded Wagon has not responded to numerous emails and calls, but did find time to charge my credit card for the move. Do not work with Padded Wagon under any condition.

Used them for a NY to CA move. They did a great job and were the cheapest of the movers I looked at. They were ontime at both ends and took extra care to not have any damage of any items. If i move back east again I will definitely use.

Horrible service, they broke furniture and claimed they did not even though we have video evidence. Also prices are outrageously high and when you have a problem, they don't answer the phone. STAY AWAY from Padded Wagon!

Aidan in the office was a pleasure to work with. The team was on time and made the whole packing, moving and storage a seamless project. A very professional company that made the moving stress free. I would highly recommend this company to family and friends.

They took forever and doubled the estimate when my things arrived and wouldn't unload until I gave them a cashier's check. A couple broken pieces and a couple missing.

This company was used by my parents to help them move.they had nothing but the best things to say about them. Courteous, professional, punctual and all around an excellent company - Can't say enough good things about them - Thank you for helping my parents and I appreciate all you did in making a stressful situation that much less stressful!

I moved an alcove studio from upper west to upper east. First time paying for "real movers", not like "Flatrate" etc. worth every penny! Came to apartment to prepare quote. No online quote that gets renegotiated on move day. Rep was on time and nicely dressed and professional. Actual cost less than quote. On move day three men, nice, friendly, organized. Guys had a good system. Arrived on time and finished in estimated time.

My move was touch and go because so needed board approval and Padded Wagon was very flexible. Also took care of all insurances timely. No damage on move in and my move in deposit fully returned. Moving is hard, but Padded Wagon will serve you well. Highest recommendation.

Take your possessions and run as fast as you can in any direction away from this company. After when you're in storage when my items were returned there was over $50,000 and broken items. Their insurance company paid not enough to cover the cost of restoration. They also didn't give me any money for the cruise volume of my antiques. They also did not pay me the $75,000 in items that were stolen. Bad news bad news bad news. Worst moving experience ever run run run run runT

Used this company for a large move within New York City, items in storage for a year and then another large move from NYC to Florida. Wonderful moving crew who try to do their best despite no help from their management. Don't use them. If you care about: - prompt, or indeed any, responsiveness to customer problems, - being treated fairly, - accurate estimates (mine was off by 50% despite the company having moved the same items a year previously) - not having your belongings held to ransom with demands for additional payments, - prompt delivery; and - not having your precious items lost and damaged while in storage or transit.

I could go on, but suffice to say that everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I have yet to hear from the mysterious owner "Ed" of this small family-owned company which does not care one iota about decent customer service. Beware.

I have been moved twice by Padded Waggon. Professional staff and company. The estimate versus what I was charged was a difference of $500 this most recent move, but the movers were very nice and did a good job packing and were on time.

I hired Jim Mahon's Movers in NJ and this dirty, small truck labeled Padded Wagon came to load my belongings on the morning of my house walk thru and closing. The scam started to unfold-they needed another truck and more men-and they still were not done in time. Against my direct assurances that they would not, they brought my belongings to the Bronx overnight where they opened the truck and removed my bed, boxspring, mattress, bedframe-all on film according to a rep.; cloth chairs and wood furniture had black grease on them, hand trolleys used to load were not used to unload and laughter as boxes slipped and contents were heard breaking.

I am missing lamps, lampshades. I was also assured that my estimate, prepared by a manager at Jim Mahons Moving in NJ was done expertly was off by over $3,000: this call came to me the morning my the trucks were to be at my new home as I did a walk thru. Untrustworthy scammers who take advantage of the people who hire them. Criminals. I give them no stars.

My parents used the Padded Wagon for a recent move. The movers were unprofessional, slow & did not complete the job as promised. They were unable to do a single day move as planned because a mover got sick. The company did not offer any compensation for the delay. They did not correctly protect the furniture & many pieces were damaged. I would not recommend them!

I have used Padded Wagon to move from Florida to New York and from New Jersey back to Florida. The crew used extra care to move a crystal chandelier and the men were courteous and respectful of my property. Would recommend to anyone

Borderline criminals. Quote was 3.5 hours. Tried to bill for six hours. Showed up an hour late. Called dispatch when he movers were slow. He said they were at lunch. To be clear, they were billing is for a lunch break. The move was for a studio apt and it was about 15 blocks from old place to new. Again.6 hours. For good measure, the dispatch guy yelled at my girlfriend when she called to ask where the movers were. Just awful.

Five stars! I've used padded wagon twice already and have always had an amazing experience. They're the best moving company in NYC. I literally can't think of anything more stressful than moving, and Padded Wagon makes it such a breeze. I don't even have to lift a finger. And I can actually enjoy the process. The movers are always friendly and offer great service.

They professionally pack all my fragiles, they carefully wrap my furniture and handle everything with care! I have storage with them as well and am happy with their pricing. I've recommended them to multiple friends and they also were very happy with their service. These guys are my movers for life!

The Worst! Had reserved a month in advance, they called saying 5 trucks are broken down and asked if they can do the move in 2 days with a $100. Discount. We arranged it and they never showed up. If you get someone name Moon hang up and shop somewhere else, you will be looking at the Moon waiting for him.

Rude, disorganized, unethical, and dishonest. Pay close and serious attention to the negative reviews -- there is a common thrust (especially with respect to out of state moves) that totally mirrors my experience. Would sooner dispose items than use this company again!

The absolute worst moving company in the New York area. Totally unethical and incompetent. They book jobs and then don't show up. And they don't even call to tell you they are not coming! This happened when they were supposed to deliver the boxes and packing material and then again when they were supposed to pick up the furniture. They are totally unreliable. USE ANYONE BUT THEM! And I suspect many of the favorable reviews are contrived and written by employees.

Best movers! Moved from NYC - CT. They promised my move would take 2 days and explained the cost. It took 2 days of perfect packing and unpacking. My movers were polite hardworking and very organized! My move came in under budget! Communication with everyone at Padded Wagon was fantastic! Thank you!

New York location: Great experience! We only reserved less than a week ahead and were able to get movers. The quote was almost SPOT ON it was amazing. Rick was great to work with and asked all the right questions. We also moved on a super rainy day and our two guys Manny and Ray were awesome. They braved the rain, were patient when the elevators broke down a couple times in our new building and were so pleasant the whole time. I highly recommend Padded Wagon in the NYC area.
