I would ask to NOT have Norry's group from Galesburg do the subcontracting for them. When they came they were very nice- good load- I know how to load- BUT when they dropped they were worse than bad- they were mean- that is the only way tp describe it. Heavy bookshelves and big furniture that went on last were left in the middle blocking little stuff at the walls- NOTHING was taken upstairs as was marked, a very meaningful piece of furniture was taken to the old basement and left on the floor with the legs off, heavy boxes on top of the heavy furniture in the middle, leaving barely a walkway- they could have done it better but they were just mean. If it wasn't mean then they are totally incompetent.

I have used Blackhawk Moving twice to move "locally" while living in Illinois. BOTH times I was beyond impressed. Moving is always a nightmare but their team really made it easy and quick. Both times I used Blackhawk Moving I had professional and kind mover teams. They were fast and had a plan of action once they did a quick survey of my home and things to move. They had all the needed materials on hand and I was thoroughly impressed both times with just how fast the move went. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE I've moved across the country more times than I can count. And I have never worked with a worse company! Starting with the estimate, after receiving it. I threw out and donated 2 rooms worth of furniture and even then was told at the end of it that my estimate was 500 lbs lesss than what what it should have been.

Which after removing 2 rooms of furniture makes 0 sense. When it came to the packers they hired, they literally threw my stuff into boxes until the halfway point and then stuffed the rest with paper, so that they can use more boxes. The movers themselves have broken the glass shelf in my expensive China cabinet. And Blackhawk is now refusing to pay for it or even take the blame even though I paid for extra insurance and the China was in perfect condition when they packed it and it was upon unpacking that I noticed the shattered glass.

So logically the issue happened when it was with the movers. I have been trying to settle this issue for months now and they are refusing to work with me. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

I moved from New York to Sycamore for school, I had 3 days between the end of my summer semester and the beginning of the fall semester, and I had to move during that 3 day period. I cannot tell you how much stress Blackhawk took off my plate during that time. The movers showed up exactly on time, and were extremely professional and got everything done very quickly. My family used Blackhawk Moving & Storage, associated with United Van Line, to relocate items that were left stranded from our initial move. Please do not hire Colonial Van Lines & agent Cal Van Lines as you will be VERY sorry! My family was traumatized by the lies, poor customer service, fraud, and damage to our household items that we experienced with Colonial Van Lines & agent, Cal Van Lines. Bo of Blackhawk assured us that what we experienced is not how reputable movers do business. Bo was right!

The quote, inventory, and scheduling process was straight forward, without any lowballing, or over-promising. Miranda, our assigned coordinator, exceeded my expectations. She regularly communicated the status of our paperwork, pickup, and eventual delivery at our new house. The movers were on time, courteous, and very efficient at getting the job done.

When our items arrived at our new location, their was no damage and our total cost was exactly what Bo originally quoted us. My only regret is not hiring Blackhawk for our original move.

I can't recommend this company enough! I was stuck in a situation where a different moving company was holding my property hostage and trying to extort me for an additional $2K, but Blackhawk was able to rescue all of my property from American Home Relocation moving company. They were extremely friendly and quick to pick up my property and complete the move.

They documented all the damage the previous company had done to my property, and professionally packed all of my items to ensure no damage was done while it was under their control. They were able to move my property down to the destination, and unloaded all my items in a timely manner. There was a minor delay in the delivery date, but Blackhawk called me the day prior and told me they were working very hard on tracking the shipment and resolving the delay. Overall I was so satisfied with the quality of the move and the ease of working with this moving company. I will definitely use them for my future moves.
