Unsafe driver driving on two lanes on 101 almost hit me and he didn't even notice train your drivers better

I've used Nor-Cal about six times over the past 20 years for interstate moves. This time was another cross-country move. My original visit was supposed to be in person, but was switched to video. I wasn't thrilled because I had a complicated two stop delivery scenario that was giving me heartburn. Thank you COVID. However, I shouldn't have worried.

Video visit went well. Price was competitive. But that isn't nearly as important as THE MOVE. Day 1: packing. I had spent weeks packing my books (I have a lot of books). They packed the rest of the place in 3 hours (4 level townhouse, 3b, 2.5 ba). Apologies that I don't recall the name of the crew. But they were great! Day 2: pick-up. Lucky me, I lived in a place where the truck couldn't do the pick-up.

No problem. Our driver (Lucien) showed up with his team and got the truck pack lickety split. We went over the two drop off issue with him and asked for an estimate of timing. Which drop off were we? When did he think he'd arrive (ballpark was fine). We were the final stop, 4 and 5, with an estimated delivery of April 25. With the weather and everything, I figured delivery would probably be later, maybe April 27 (which was fine).

How wrong. Sunday I received a text from Lucien. We'll be there tomorrow morning for delivery. And there he was with his east coast team. A few things were packed wrong in the truck (for the wrong drop off location), but he (and the team) were great about doubling back 5 miles to drop the stuff off at the first location and getting it set-up.

Although I hope not to have another big move anytime soon, I can't say enough great things about Nor-Cal and Allied. I find some of the reviews hard to believe based on my consistent experience with them over the years.

We had nothing but an excellent experience with Nor-Cal for our cross-country move from California to New York. First, their agent, Paul Swain, went far and above the call of duty in helping us with the move, even assisting with our donating some belongings to local charities -- and taking others unworthy of such treatment to the dump. He was always available to answer questions and came by when the movers were packing and loading to make sure everything went smoothly.

He even helped us donate furniture left behind for staging that our realtor ultimately decided not to use -- this after we were long gone! The packers exceeded expectations -- fewer than a half dozen items suffered any damage (and we had hundreds of very delicate pieces!). Dave the driver kept us fully informed of where he was en route, and his loading and unloading crews were fast, careful, and easy to get along with -- despite having to work in the rain on one end and the snow in the other. All in all, we couldn't have chosen more wisely.

The best and efficient moving company, I recommend this business 100 % Good prices and very affordable. Do not way, just call.

I had a fantastic experience with NorCal moving for my cross country move. They were professional, fast, and careful. I highly recommend them!

Called to arrange a time to get my apartment assessed. They arranged for a time a week from the day I called them, which kind of concerned me given how long lead times were. Phil asked me to pull in the appointment as much as possible the day I scheduled it for so he wouldn't have dead time.and then was nearly 15 minutes late to it anyway. Only during this conversation where he asked to reschedule did I learn the appointment would be over a video call, too, which is not a sign of a well-managed service.

The once-over he had me do was filled with an air of "I really don't like this" and disdain, and he told me I'd get a quote shortly. Hours later I get a quote that lists 2136 lbs of stuff with a completely fabricated 5000 lbs number that the price is based off of. Then when I replied asking where that super inflated number came from, I was not given a reply.

So now he's wasted an entire week of my time, making my timeline even tighter since I need to restart from square one. Super unprofessional in every regard. Glad I won't need to move away from the area twice!

NOR-CAL Moving Services did an amazing job for us. We moved our medical practice and they were so helpful, friendly, and hard working. They even built our shelves for our medical charts. They made the whole move so much less stressful for us. We cannot thank them enough and we were so satisfied with their work.

Critical: Professionalism Inquired about a quote. Response from Marissa A stated that they are overbooked during my requested move date and could not help me. My date is flexible and not even an attempt or call to learn more or even refer me back to Allied.

Roberto showed up 40 minutes late for my appointment. Despite me giving Allied my moving date prior to the appointment, I was told that they were already booked for that week and the week before. When I told him that I couldn't use them, he got an attitude. I asked him if he could possibly look at my apartment to give me a rough idea of how many pounds I had and his response was, "Why would I waste my time with you if you aren't going to use me?" I told him that he had wasted 40 minutes of my time and he would be doing me a solid to just take a quick look. His response again, "Why would I waste my time with you?" As he turned and walked away, I told him he was rude and shut the door. I have also complained to customer service.

They were a complete NO-SHOW with our move. Even received confirmation that morning they would be there in afternoon. Meeting time came and went. All calls and emails since have gone unanswered. We risked not having the place empty and being charged another month of rental because of these losers. They are trash.

My move coordinator contacted me very quickly to set up scheduling. She was terrific, and very thorough. The crew called me one half hour before arriving. The moving team was respectful of my property, trees, driveway, and even covered the garage surfaces. The team leader introduced himself, as well as his helper. Both were pleasant and let me know they were there to help me in any way they could.

The move was done on time and on estimate. All areas were left clean and without any damage. I would definitely recommend Nor-cal to all of my neighbors, or friends. They made moving so easy and uneventful. Thumbs up for Nor-cal.

They were an excellent crew. Very professional and friendly. They did a wonderful job and did it in a very timely and concise manner. I've used them several times now and I highly recommend them.

Nor-cal took all the stress out of moving due to covid 19 it has been hard for my dental office to stay afloat and NorCal was very affordable and professional. The team that was sent to relocate my office was amazing. They arrived on time, completed the job quicker than I thought. The team was very efficient and friendly and had appropriate protective wear kept on their masks even while they were moving very large & heavy awkward pieces.

They actually put my files in boxes and kept them in order somehow and even put them back where they go upon arrival as well one gentleman was very handy and helpful he even hung up our Pictures and TVs while they were moving. I will definitely use them again and recommend to anyone.

Worst moving company! I have been relocated by them twice and got rude and unprofessional services both time. They don't know how to pack goods properly and they don't care about you and your family. As a result you have to spend hours filing claims for damaged and loss items. The moving coordinator had to call their boss each time to get things straightened up. I highly recommend you stay away from Nor-Cal Moving Services. There're way better company out there!

Do not use them! These guys are so rude and unprofessional. They also did not get a permit for the move and ended up blocking the whole city street. Many neighbors complained.

Very professional movers on each end. Just not good initial communication on timeline of delivery.

The crew showed up promptly and within 2 hours all the items we had marked were packed and ready to be shipped. The packers were very efficient and friendly. We highly recommend this company! Phil Barry was great in organizing everything.

This company is ripe with corruption with a leader that has horrible business practices. The equipment isn't reliable, they require upfront payment, and will break a binding contract with little to no notice. The president also harrasses customers via email and threatens legal remedies without merit. If you use Allied, I suggest you specifically ask them not to contract out to Nor-Cal in Hayward, CA.

They are the best movers for household and commercial moves. Will use them next time.

We contacted Allied Van Lines this past weekend. We told them our desired moving date was Wednesday or Thursday of next week. 10-11 days prior to our moving date. We were told by Allied that this should be acceptable and that our information would be forwarded to Nor-Cal and that Phil Barry would be our point of contact there. Phil then scheduled a walkthrough of our apartment for today, 5-6 days before our move.

Immediately upon him arriving he asked our move in day, when told he said that he wouldn't be able to do it due to not having parking permits in place in time. I said goodbye and good day and he left. Significant time on my part was wasted to be available for his walkthrough. This could have been more readily and easily clarified earlier this week when we first called and I would have procured a parking permit for them.

The general lack of clear communication between Allied, Nor-Cal, and myself is cause for concern. If communication is this bad then how much worse can I expect things once they are in position of all of my valued possessions.

We used Nor-Cal to move from CA to TX. We had to store our furniture for a month before delivery. The packing was done perfectly and delivery a month later was spot on. Our coordinator Gwendolyn was on top of every aspect. We moved a baby grand piano and the extra care service for that was wonderful. Their driver Bob was absolutely the best of the best. I highly recommend using them.

Do not use this business with this horrible business. They stole laptops, ipads, $500 lamps from our desks after they moved us. DO not use them. You have been warned how bad they are. You take the risk of losing all your property. Once they see an open crate they will search it for anything valuable. Do not use them. They will not reimburse you without a fight.

They hire the lowest of the low tier movers from the street. I'm sitting here staring at monitor arms that aren't even mine. A chair not mine cause they lost my harmon Miller chair.

Thanks so much to everyone at Nor Cal and the EMS crew. Scotty and his team (Ciro, Anthony and Alex) were so helpful, fast, clean, courteous and very professional. I used Nor Cal/Allied a year ago when I moved to the Bay Area from overseas. There is a good reason I returned to them!. I've noticed how other movers just throw things randomly in the back of a truck.

I want to know that my things are properly wrapped and stacked so that everything is in good order and good condition when I reach my destination. This is my 16th move in 20 years, so I really can recommend NorCal/Allied and the EMS crew with confidence and authority. Thank you!

The team is efficient and make the process of moving as easy as it can be. The onsite moving staff is wonderful to work with. They hustle and get it done, all while smiling and laughing with us. Made the task of moving fun.

Quick simple process for determining cost. The difference for me was in the person picking up and dropping off. Experienced driver with attention to detail and genuine care in what he was doing.

This was one of seven cross country moves. This was the best! The packing team took a full day to wrap and box, they were efficient and courteous. The loading team also took a full day, every piece of. furniture was padded and wrapped then securely loaded. The driver was a meticulous and organized team leader with an extremely clean truck. Seven days later and through some ugly winter weather, our possessions were unloaded in pristine condition and placed in our new home. Nor-Cal Moving Services provided an excellent team from start to finish.

We used Nor-Cal for a commercial move of our offices from one location in Oakland to another. The moving crew on the day-of was phenomenal -- quick, friendly, and very careful with our belongings while navigating multiple elevators. The Nor-Cal Moving team were courteous professional and efficient. They did a great job wrapping and loading the furniture and the boxs. They finished the job in a little over three hours. We have moved several times and they were one of three best.
