Low Cost Movers did not waste any time. Arrived 30min early to make sure everything was wrapped and ready for the move. We did not think our 3 bedroom apartment would fit into a 20' truck but the crew assured us it would and it did! We will use LCM in the future because of the great customer service and communication. These guys work hard and smart! 10/10 recommend! ** Nothing was damaged or broken when we unpacked**

From the very beginning I knew we were in good hands. Austin reached out right away and was so polite in the way he handled my questions and the job, giving an estimate and booking a date that worked well for me. The 3 guys he sent arrived on-time, calling ahead to give me a time of arrival. They showed up ready to work. We had quite a few metal items that they were moving out to a storage unit.
They moved them out without one complaint. The only thing I'd do different was making sure that I had water bottles on hand for them. I would definitely hire them again and would recommend them to anyone needing movers.

I have never had a better experience with a moving company from start to finish. Austin responded promptly to my initial inquiry and was very friendly and informative throughout the process of setting everything up. On the day of the move, the two movers were on time, professional, courteous, efficient, and careful with our stuff. We were moving my mother in law into a senior living apartment that had a tight window for when the elevator was available.
Low Cost Movers was very accommodating and made it work without a hitch. I am grateful for how affordable this move was for the quality of the service. I would definitely recommend Low Cost Movers and I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Definitely recommend them and will use again! - Coordination was easy from getting a (reasonable!) quote through scheduling and then payment. Great communication confirming the move in advance and then day of the move. Most importantly, I appreciated they they had a 'can do' attitude to just get things done which is exactly what is needed for moving.
My move was the last day of the month which is obviously a busy day for moving companies and they were running behind from an earlier move - the owner Austin dropped whatever he was doing and started my move to speed up the process before the rest of the crew could arrive. (WOW how often do you see that these days?!) Movers were very professional and friendly.

I had a really bad experience with the first moving company I hired and was hesitant to hire another company. Austin avoided replicating my previous nightmare scenario with another company and his team provided excellent service. The team was fast, efficient, friendly and respectable, all at an affordable price without any hidden fees or up-chargers. Would definitely recommend using Low Cost Movers. It made my move stress free with great communication and great accountability.

Needed to only have a few pieces of furniture moved and all other companies were quoting me $709 and up. Low Cost Movers was the only company that charged a reasonable per hour rate and said it should take under two hours. They were right! The movers showed up and had the truck loaded within 25 minutes. When they arrived at our new place they found my desk would not fit in the doorway of the room I was using.
They didn't want to waste time taking it apart so they were able to hoist it up through a 2nd floor balcony and through the sliding door. They were careful and took their time. I was very impressed. Overall it took them under an hour to load and unload but we had to pay for a two hour minimum which was fine. I would definitely recommend using them.

Used this company for a move after a recommendation from a friend. Was surprised to see the 3 stars when I clicked a link to provide a review. I found them to be wholly professional, very efficient and pretty impressive. I guess being involved in the most stressful part of most peoples lives means you're going to take hits for things that aren't really your fault. I've moved plenty of times as I move between jobs and continents and I found low cost movers to be fantastic.
They did everything speedily considering they charge by the hour and could have run out the clock a little if they'd wanted. They treated my stuff with respect and handled everything carefully. If I move again in Chicago I know exactly who'll I'll be reaching out to. And this is from a not easily impressed Brit.

Follow-up Review: I'd add some comments to the owner's reply - The insurance policy they provide is NOT reasonable, which goes by weight - $0.30 per pound. For my case, it took one-month to get $100 compensate for something worth $900+. The moving cost I paid to the company was $1,033.02. Eventually, I have to accept their offer to settle the case beacues I cannot afford to keep the house vacant for months.
By the way, I signed their "General Release" on 4/22, and no one replied to me when the check would be cut. I will update the review when I receive the check. As of now, I changed the rating from two star to one star since the owner doesn't really realize the problem with their insurance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Initial Reivew: I give two star to this moving company because the movers came on time and they were pretty nice. However, the accident happened during the move, one of our bed headbands fell off the stairs and crashed onto the floor.
The headboard was broken, which left a stain on the floor and a hole on the dry wall. The claim process was painful. - The service was slow responding. Needed to follow up multiple times to get responses through email, because anyone who could be held on the phone would tell me "reply the email from claim department". (It means no one from the claim department would answer the call.) - I was required to fill out the forms with two pages, take photos and find the receipts. Moreover, I was asked to find the public notary attestation sign the form. (It means you will have to spend money before you get reimbursed on your damages) - They told me that I had to keep the accident location as is and insurance company would come and inspect. (However, NO one contact me for accident inspection in a month) - They sent over someone to fix the drywall and the floor in about 2 weeks. - After all, they eventually replied me after multiple follow-ups that they would only pay $100 for the broken headboard, which I spent $900+ on, because they had a term on their moving contract that they were only liable for $30 cents per pond. ( it is ridiculous.
I had to keep the mass in my house for a month, which delayed my sale/rent, they would only pay $100 for damage) Conclusion: 1) I don't recommend this company if you have valuable items; 2) be careful with what you sign which may trick you in the claim process

I had the BEST experience with Josh and Robert from low cost movers! They were very respectful and professional. We had to make a stop between my old apartment and my new house. They were very quick and efficient. We drove from the city to Elgin area then to Elk Grove. When all said and done it was only 5 hours! They did an amazing job even with some tricky furniture! I would recommend this service to ANYONE! Very reasonably priced. High Quality experience!

These movers are amazing! My brother used them about 6 months ago and they were incredible. When I had to move I knew that they would do a great job and be reliable. I was right! It was the same 2 guys that helped my brother as well. They were funny, kind, and went out of their way to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. They are well worth the price and I couldn't recommend them more. I will be using them next time I move for sure!

This is the first move of my life where I used movers, and I was a little wary of how it would go. They legitimately tried to complete everything as quickly as possible, and took exceptional care of my things. At one point, there was an issue with my couch being too large to fit up the stairwell, and while I'm making peace with needing to find/buy a new couch, they rigged some sort of system with ropes and managed to bring it in, which was impressive given that my new place does not have a balcony. They worked hard, were affordable and were incredibly respectful and easy to get along with. I'll use them for any move I have going forward.

I called at least five moving companies and this one is the cheapest and worth every penny. I got these movers for 2.5 hours but it took 3.5 hours(I was not surprised because I had a lot of stuff). These two men were so nice, polite, and didn't let me move a thing If you have to pick a moving company. THIS IS THE ONE! I gave them a good tip because these men deserved it. I am from the service industry, if you order a service, please make sure you tip.

I would highly recommend Low Cost Movers! They were priced much lower than a lot of their competitors and did an amazing job. Everything was nicely wrapped, loaded and unloaded in a very timely manner. They were transparent and friendly throughout our whole experience. Why pay three times the price for the exact day thing somewhere else.?

Our experience with Low Cost Movers was overwhelmingly positive. The movers were professional and communicative leading up to the move. Austin was friendly, clear and quick to respond to any questions I had. On the day of our move, the movers arrived on time and promptly began their work. Shrink wrap and protective moving blankets were available to protect our items.
They were efficient and careful in transporting fragile objects. When unloading at the final destination, the movers helped us arrange furniture and placed boxes where it was most convenient for us. We will definitely recommend Low Cost Movers to anyone looking for a future move!

There was a gentleman at this company who deserves special, if unusual mention. We requested a moving job that was out of area, and couldn't be done within our time frame, and Austin was considerate enough to provide us with the name of another service which, as it turned out, worked out perfectly! Just used Low Cost Movers to move our family from our condo to our new house last weekend. This was our third time hiring a moving company to move our family but our first experience with LCM. They were as equally competent as our previous moving companies at a fraction of the cost. I was hesitant at first due to some negative reviews here but I'm glad we chose them.
They called us the morning of our move with an ETA, arrived within the window they promised, and worked efficiently and carefully. Our two moving men were very competent and worked quickly. None of if our items were damaged. They disassembled and reassembled large furniture with ease. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a straight forward and extremely affordable moving experience.

Do not, do not, do not hire this company. Really. Don't. It's not because of the movers themselves -- they were great. Unfortunately, incompetence, unprofessionalism and just plain bad customer service on the part of the people in charge resulted in a major error in planning our move and us being overcharged by hundreds. Numerous efforts to correct this situation have resulted in denial, then blaming us, then a promise to look into it, then a refusal to answer or return phone calls.
In a nutshell: When we initially booked Low Cost Movers for our move a few months in advance, we provided a detailed rundown of all of our items, which was sizable -- a lot of large pieces including multiple dressers, couch, queen-sized bed, a crib, grill, etc. At the time of our booking, we didn't know how many boxes we would have because we hadn't started packing. (Like everyone, especially a family with a young child, we finished packing a day or two before the move--not months in advance when we booked the movers.) The professional, appropriate, customer-friendly thing for Low Cost Movers to do would have been to err on the side of caution and plan on an average or above-average quantity of boxes based on the items we'd already identified and being a family of three moving from a two-bedroom condo.
Yet it is clear that by putting "TBD" in the space for boxes in their notes for our move, Low Cost Movers did not account for the space that would be taken up by any boxes and how that would impact the size of the truck we would need. It is as if they planned on us having none, and when this resulted in sending a truck that was too small, it required a second truck to be sent on the day of the move for a considerable extra charge and time added to the hourly fee.
On top of that, they only blamed us, claiming that by giving them the final box count the day before our move, it was too late for them to make any changes, and it's our fault. Except the difference in the size of the truck we needed was not the difference in the average number of boxes and our actual number of boxes (around 50, with many of them on the smaller side).
We were way over capacity for the size of the truck that was sent. The reason is that the difference in the size of the truck we needed was the difference between the boxes we had and estimating zero boxes. It was an inexcusable oversight for Low Cost Movers to not plan for the size of truck we needed based on combining the high quantity of large items we were moving and factor in boxes as well. Claiming "Well, you didn't tell us how many you would have until the last minute so it's not our fault" is punting responsibility and carrying out a move in a way that is not meant to protect and help the customer. Shame on Mark for refusing to take accountability for this error and not calling back more than two weeks after he said he'd look into it, despite repeated efforts to get back in touch with him.
In fact, more often than not their phone does not lead to a professional business voicemail but rather a generic message not connected to a business, so you can't be sure they will even receive the message. (And Mark previously claimed that past voicemails were not received, another case of denial without responsibility.) Do not work with these people.

I have used Low Cost Movers in 2014, 2016 and now 2018. I always had great experiences except for this last move. I'm not sure if there has been a change in management, but I DO NOT recommend them. They are horrible with communication. There were many instances I called them and had no answer and no response to my voicemails. When I say no answer, that's at different times throughout the day!
When I finally got a hold of them, I had questions regarding instructions on how to pay using PayPal. I wanted to avoid the convenience fee they charge when choosing to use credit card. The woman I spoke with told me she would email me instructions on how to use PayPal. A week went by and still no email. I called back and she apologized and said she will get back to me.
She never did. I was beyond frustrated. I finally got instructions from a man who answered the phone the day of my move! The movers I used were 2 1/2 hours late. Not to my surprise, no one was answering their phone. When someone finally did answer, she said she would call the movers and call me back regarding an update. This never happened. No one calls back even when I say, "are you really going to call back because communication on your end hasn't been good." The lady reassured me, but never called back.
The movers did an ok job, however, they lost a box that had our $400 coffee/espresso machine in it. I was never instructed by the movers to check the truck before they left, nor was I thinking about it as closing on a house and moving is a stressful process. Isn't it the movers job to help their clients out? A week went by and still no sign of the coffee/espresso machine, I called and there was no answer.
