Local family owned very personable fair rate place is always clean and secure never had a problem in the several years I've been there

I keep getting bills after leaving them the keys and letting them know I was no longer in need of the rental unit. I've never had issues like this leaving a storage unit, I was told it was month to month and I could cancel at any time! I sent a message on the contact form on budget storages website to let them know weeks before I would no longer be renting unit, and I was all paid up at the time, I let them know weeks ahead of time that I no longer needed unit, I was paid up and I even left the keys in drop box for them, as the office was closed as you can expect a lot here, regardless of what hours they say they are open.

Now I'm getting bills still due to them not checking their online contact forms or having the office open during normal operating hours to handle this properly. My messages are just getting ignored. Seems like they are just trying to scam people, it's really unfortunate. I will edit my review if this gets resolved properly, I'm not going to pay for two months of storage because you guys did not check your online contact forms, or have the office open during hours you were scheduled to be open.

Nor am I going to pay a Lock cut fee, when I left you guys all three keys and gave notice on budget storage websites contact form. I even gave my new address but keep getting notices sent to my old address. It went from good when starting to rent to horrible customer service when I'm no longer renting. You get avoided, and ignored so they can send you extra bills.

Not to mention, I rented the unit during the winter, and the rain leaked through the roof of the storage unit. Mold is a huge issue here! Pack your things wisely and opt for insurance if you still choose too rent here.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. Their unit LEAKED in TWO places, damaging valuable items of mine, and they refused to pay for a mover to move my very heavy items to another unit. They say they are not liable for ANY damage. DO NOT RENT A STORAGE UNIT HERE!

I came here here at 1:30PM and the sign on the door said they will return at 2PM but they don't close until 6PM. It's now 2:30PM and knowone has opened up the premises. Me and another guy is just waiting. Very bad Customer Service and the customer service number only said they can have the manager call me.

Very good storage place as they have a wide selection of units in different sizes. The only issue I had with the location is that they only stay until 8pm or else you'll get locked inside with a $50 fee!

I have been very pleased with our storage unit, and now we rent two. The staff is friendly and responsive. I definitely recommend them!

I give this place a four-star view only because the gate closes at 8 o'clock besides that great location secured an awesome customer service.

No issues, had to rent one of there bigger units as we have too much stuff. We initially got 1 month free but when we moved up in size they couldn't extend that offer. Other than that no issues and happy

I only gave it to one-star because I had to delete this post this place is a rip-off a church had made a payment over $900 on my behalf and I was locked out of my unit and my stuff sold supposedly $400 when I tried to reach them several times they did not respond until after the fact now they're trying to tell me that they did try to reach me and they did not the guy at the front desk was always high on something and they took advantage of me and my situation to get my stuff and I know they sold it for more than $100

Better price and the storage are better big tha others storages. The staffing are friendly and there are no extra charge for filing the paperwork. The hours to access to the storage are way better too from 6 am to 8 pm. Sincerely: Victor C.

I completed the online reservation - not even 15min later I got a call from the manager confirming. I stopped to view the unit same day and booked it right then and there. Never ended up actually using it after two months, so I emailed once more to put in two week notice and not even 30min passed and I get a call confirming and that they could move me out ASAP and reimburse me for the rest of the month. They also did call to remind me that my rent was due, so I wouldn't be charged a late fee. Great customer service and great location!

I have been utilizing budget storage at this location, for the past 16yrs. I thank that should speak for itself, but perhaps I need to explain why. The manager, and her staff have been very kind and courteous to me and others I have recommended. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend this facility. It's conveinent, clean, and their prices are resonable.

The part I like most is the personal attention given to each storage tennant, I.e. They will call you to remind you of the payment due. I call that GREAT customer service. Keep up the good work.

This place is GREAT! I was in a rush to find a storage unit that could fit all my things, but I only had 5 days til moving day and couldn't find a reasonably priced unit in Marin. I decided that Richmond was close enough, so I started looking there and found Budget. I called on Thursday evening and needed the unit Saturday morning (crunch time!). Melany answered and said all the right things!

No additional fees, they provide locks, the units are gated, you can drive up to each unit, with 24 hour surveillance. It was a dream come true, but how much was all that gonna cost me?.Turned out to be half the price of any unit I found in Marin! Melany was the highlight in all of this, she was kind, helpful, and really sealed the deal for me. Everything about this place is great!

Highly recommended. The lot is set up in such a way that makes for easy drive-in right up to your unit. No stairs, no elevators, no hassle. It's safe, it's clean, and they have great customer service.

Great prices, clean safe storage and friendly staff. Who could ask for more? I checked the internet and called multiple counties. Marin, richmond and Sonoma. By far Budget self storage was the best priced. I called and Samantha was so helpful on the phone. She reserved a unit for me for the next day. I drove to the convenient location and was greated by the manager. Hands down one of the nicest ladies I have ever met.

She took me to the storage unit and I found it to be clean and well kept. I read some crazy review about this place about rat droppings and rust. I think the person who wrote that review must be referring to another place. Unless that customer had rats in her stuff and was storing rusting and moldy I don't know how she could be referring to budget self storage.

Some people are horders and delusional. That must be the case with the review. I happiy signed up for the unit and was given a free lock with 3 keys! Ive never had a starve place do that. A+ in my books To top it off I just received a handwritten note from the manager Janae M. thanking me for my business.

We have rented here twice over the past 2 years and have been very pleased. Manager is phenomenal and the prices are the most reasonable in the area. No weird contracts and very up front and clear about access hours and how to cancel if needed, nothing hidden. They even provided us a lock! Would absolutely use again if I need another storage unit.

The manager called to resolve our conflict about the 15-day cancellation charge, and restored my impression of this business.

I have been a client of Budget Storage for some time now, when I have nowhere to put the extra stuff from my house I look to their storage facility. The service they offer is outstanding, Janae and her staff go out of their way to make sure that I get all the help I need. I am really thankful for all their help, and how fast and inexpensive it is to get a storage unit.

By far Budget Storage has the best rates out there and they are my preferred storage facility. I highly recommend everyone to check them out, if I can give more stars I would :

If you can't afford expensive storage, Budget Self Storage offers great value. I rented their 6' by 8' space three times over the last three years when transitioning from places or going back home for the summer. They always have excellent deals on their website. The only drawback might be that it's a little bit out of the way in Richmond (at least if you're a student at Berkeley), but it's well worth the savings.

The spaces are clean and the area's clearly safe. It's also convenient because you can just drive up to your space. Also, Janae, the manager, was always very helpful and friendly each time I went back. Just make sure you don't forget to put in your 2-week notice before you vacate.

I took advantage of the yelp deal and only paid $21 a month for their smallest space which turned out to provide more than enough room. The place is located in a very secluded industrial area and is properly secured. Management lives on site and the grounds are very clean. I'm incredibly satisfied and would use them again and recommend them. Opening account was very easy--I called the day before I needed to move out all of my stuff and there were 2 spots available.

The manager at the front desk was very throrough--you get a long spiel, you choose the date you want to make your payment on, you get a lock, she takes you to the storage spot, and she gives you a package of paperwork explaining all the rules in case you forget what she said (like cancellation of the account irequires a 15 day notice). Pay attention to the hours that they operate and when you're able to access your stuff.

I never accessed my stuff until I closed my account (gave all my stuff to my sisters), but I think (and I could be mistaken) that you can only get in and out up until 8PM and if you get locked in, theres a fee they charge to get you out. I like that I could pay online. I liked the rock bottom rates (even before th discounts) and the incredible service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Okay, got all of my bedroom stuff in the 4x6 space this weekend - two days after I initially told them I would be there. But my place was still reserved and they were still REALLY nice. Seriously, of all businesses I've interacted with, the customer service is the most kind and accommodating. And that's basically because the manager, Janae Mitchell, takes care of everything there.

I got the Yelp special that's advertised on here so it's a really good deal too. With the $8-a-month insurance, I'm paying $37 a month for the next four months. That's like crazy better than anything else I looked into.

I used their service for about 3 months while I was in between apartments. I opted for their facility over closer ones just because it was cheapest (1st month was a buck). I was REALLY pleased with the service during the sign-up process+things went really well while I had my crap there. I liked that I was able to pay online. Big plus. Clean facility, well lit, easy access. Turns out that I paid a month in advance somehow. Cool!

I get money back. There's the standard 4-6 week waiting period for any company to give you YOUR money back. Fine. I'll deal. However, between my contact info being filled out on my initial application and it being entered in their system, the wrong address was input in the computer wrong. That'd be ok if I weren't expecting money back.

I gave my correct forwarding address while turning in my keys, but I've called a few times to verify that they have my correct address and to see when I'd be getting my money back. I keep getting very ambiguous answers. "If you gave us the correct address when you left, corporate will forward it their." "I can't tell you when the check was mailed out." I've asked for billing info in their corporate office+they won't give it up. So, I'll have to wait 6 weeks to see if they actually corrected my address.

On a separate note: DO NOT USE GOOGLE MAPS/MAPQUEST TO GET HERE. YOU WILL GET LOST! I really like the storage facility as a storage facility. Wish I could get an answer on where my money is. Be sure to check all paper work+verify your address on their online system when using their service. ******** FOLLOW-UP ********* Was contacted by higher-ups after my review.

The power of the web! He called me to straighten things out. Turns out there was an accounting glitch+I'm not actually getting a credit back. More importantly, he was receptive of my suggestions on how the situation was being handled with me+the local office. Really appreciate it+appreciate this company+will continue to recommend them. 5-star upgrade!

So far, so great! this is the best deal in the whole Bay Area. I dare you to beat it, or their level of service. I spoke with Andrew (who unfortunately for you, and Budget Self Storage, is leaving for a new opportunity), who gave me clear information, a great deal, and let me know that he'd be there when I pulled in to walk me through the paperwork, etc.

After a little golf cart tour of the units, I picked one that was clean & the right size for my needs. Their current deal for an 8x15' unit includes: a free lock, 5 moving boxes, a credit for the cost of your moving van, and 1/2 off your unit for 4 months. An 8x15' unit is costing me $62/month. My U-Haul cost about $115 (they only credit the cost of the van, not gas or taxes). Still, this means my first month is free, and my second month is only about a third of that.

I pay month-to-month, and can bail out whenever I want (give 15 days notice - but no contracts). You don't have to stay 4 months just to get this deal. I got an inexpensive insurance deal for an additional $12/month. It covers $3,000 worth of stuff no matter what happens. A lightning bolt could hit the unit, and I'd get paid. Not sure regular renter's insurance covers on this level (includes earthquake!) Varying levels of coverage are available.

A very friendly U-Haul center is a couple miles away on 23rd St., so moving and getting the rebate on the van is pretty easy. This location is central to most of the Bay Area, and feels very safe. I'm not sure why you'd want to pay $300 for the same amount of space in San Francisco, but if you do, go for it. Any buy me a pony while you're at it.

This is the best sotrage deal in Richmond! And the managers are really friendly and helpful. The place is in a very safe area, but on top of that they have many security features, like cameras everywhere, a code to get in the gate, and infrared beams around the entire property. It is very clean and run very professionally. And they give you all kinds of free stuff when you rent from them (free lock, tool kit, boxes, truck credit to move your stuff in). I was able to just drive my car right up next to the unit with a big roll up door, and unload everything directly in. No carts needed, no stairs, no elevators! Super easy!

Some of the good points of this storage facility that you will be (in my experience) very unlikely to find in other storage facilities, especially the "big brand" names: 1) Friendly, helpful staff that will always deal with you honestly and fairly. There will be no misrepresentations, deceit, or double-talk. No "gotcha" in the fine print. 2) You will find any size storage area you need, and will be able to drive right up to the roll-up door of your unit to load or unload.

This is true of every unit - no elevator or stairs. 3) Clean, super-secure facility with very easy in and out access from the Richmond Parkway. 4) Prices are very reasonable and are clearly stated. No hidden charges or fees. I needed a temporary storage unit in 2005 and spent several months trying to find one that would meet my needs at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, I started my search at the "big brand" facilities and became very frustrated at the experience. Luckily, as I was driving on the Richmond Parkway I saw the "Budget Storage" sign, and this turned out to be the answer to my storage needs. I have now had the same storage space for five years and the experience continues to be a delight at every turn.

As a college student, I've used many storage facilities over the years. Budget Self Storage blew them all away. Not only are the manager and staff incredibly friendly, but the free stuff is super useful. The prices are unbeatable and the location is incredibly secure. There have been technical problems with the door and/or the comm system every time I've gone to pick up stuff (hence 4 not five stars), but honestly by the time I leave I'm so satisfied that I pretty much forget any minor inconveniences that have occurred. Use them. Always.

After taking a hiatus from Berkeley over the summer, I needed an inexpensive place to store my stuff- so I looked online and found Budget Self Storage in Richmond. Although it wasn't exactly where I live in Berkeley, it proved worth the drive. Great price for a clean storage unit, the best in the bay! And super helpful/friendly staff. It appeared very secure, with cameras everywhere and electronically controlled gate. They even gave me free boxes for my summer move! They come highly recommended in my book!
