Sitterly Movers was founded in 1930, which means we have almost a century's worth of experience moving and grooving throughout New England and beyond. Below is just a few reasons why Sitterly Movers is the smartest choice over other moving and storage companies in Western Massachusetts. To earn this certification, a mover must be a member of AMSA in good standing for at least 18 months and subscribe to the AMSA code of ethics. We have been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 1997 and proudly boast an A+ rating.
Sitterly Movers is founded in Greenfield, MA, by Forrest Sitterly to perform moving services in Franklin County, MA. Roger's son and Sitterly Movers' current owner, Rod Sitterly, joins the company and assists in expanding its geographic area of service. Sitterly performs its first library move with the relocation of the University of Massachusetts' Library in 1971.

Recently used Sitterly for a large whole home local move. From our first contact with Ryan who did the walk through and estimate, the move went perfect. I did pack all my own items and Nick, the operations dispatcher was so responsive and informative and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The crew working with Barry on both of our days were incredibly polite, friendly, professional and overall just fantastic.
A great group of super nice guys! It was 30 years worth of household items and they were super respectful of all my furniture. I definitely recommend Sitterly for anyone planning a move!

So maybe our experience was just a fluke but. We booked Sitterly to move our furniture to our new apartment. They were supposed to arrive at 8:30/9 AM, which was confirmed by phone by them the day before. 9.9:15.nothing. We call their office-- they're closed on Saturdays. We call the salesperson who quoted us-- no answer. Finally, I think around 10 we hear from the sales guy.
It turns out that the movers grabbed the paperwork for a move in two days, showed up, the people said, hey you're early, and they left. (Lesson #1: If you grabbed the wrong paperwork, wouldn't you return to the office to get the right paperwork?) Salesperson talks to them and tries to see if they can still come. We hear back. Yes, the movers will come at 11:30/12. It's 12.12:15.nothing.
We call salesperson back. Voicemail. (Lesson #2: You already stood us up once, your movers ostensibly have our paperwork and therefore contact number.why aren't they informing us that they'll be late?) We hear back from salesperson. It seems like today won't work, might have to be tomorrow. We say we need to think about it and call back.
We do, and insist on today (we've now spent/wasted like 6 hours waiting for movers to come). Salesperson tells us that they're not sure it's going to happen this weekend. We ask if we can talk to the dispatcher. We can't because that person only has a personal cell. (Lesson #3: So if you move on a weekend, there's no one you can contact if there's a problem?
Lesson #4: Why can't you come this weekend? Because you're too booked? Can't you give us more information?) The salesperson was nice enough to recommend someone else who was available, but we decided to move everything ourselves because we were so fed up / didn't trust anyone anymore. We've never used movers and thought it would be such a good break. Instead, this experience made our move twice as long. Appreciate that mistakes happen, but this is three in one day (1. AM time missed; 2. PM time missed; 3. Cancellation on same day.)

We hired Sitterly Movers in April 2021 for a move from one Western Massachusetts town to another. We had a lot of stuff and not a lot of time to move, and they came through for us. Overall I'm happy with my experience with the company. We used their professional packing services and the crew who worked on that aspect of the job packed things well to prevent damage.
They packed dozens of boxes and the cost was worth it for us to not have to stress about the process. Upon unpacking, we found that a lot of the boxes had more packing paper than items, however, although that may just be the cautious nature of the business. The move itself went well, as the crew dutifully cleared out our previous home item by item.
They did an awesome job with this part of the gig as I previously stated, there was a lot of stuff to move. Upon unpacking at the new house, we did discover some things had been broken during the move. But we purchased the moving valuation during the contract signing for an additional cost, and upon submitting my claim, they sent me a check without any issues.
It was as simple as me filling out the form, emailing it, and receiving a check. Overall, I'd say most every crew member who was a part of this was fantastic. Overwhelmingly they were kind, responsive, professional and careful with our belongings. And some of the guys on the team were just amazing people to work alongside and meet. Additionally, since we were doing this during the pandemic, they took caution relative to wearing masks and such, which was greatly appreciated.
So was the move perfect? No, things got broken, but I somewhat expected that to happen with a move of our size. But did they follow-up and handle things with professionalism and accept responsibility? Absolutely. And that, to me, makes the difference. I would recommend Sitterly and Relocation Coordinator Joe Santos to a friend or relative without question. Good people and good value for the money, and I'm thankful for their assistance in making my move a smooth one.

I would highly recommend Sitterly Movers. Barry, Ryan, Nick & Mark made our move such a positive experience. They were professional, respectful and extremely hard workers. They showed up right on time and got right to work assessing what we needed to move and coming up with a plan to pack the tuck efficiently. One low ceiling did get marked up when moving a couch and they took ownership right away and helped us through the claim process before they left. The quote we received was very accurate and because we had everything packed up for them, which saved time, we came in just under what we were quoted.

Cannot say enough about how great this experience was from start to finish. Tom who helped us with the estimate via virtual tour who was friendly and helpful got things off on the right foot. Then the power trio arrived at our condo early Sat a.m. before a 90+ degree day started. Jamie, Hector, and John. These guys are AMAZING. Hustle and muscle meets kind and considerate.
They treated us and our belongings with such care and thoughtfulness. And they finished ahead of schedule, saving us money. I'll enthusiastically recommend them to anyone and make them my 1st call on any future moves.

Very happy with our overall experience with Sitterly Movers. From the initial consultation with Joe from the sales team through Hector and the crew of movers, everyone was very professional and courteous. Estimate was accurate and work was done exactly as planned. Would gladly use them again. Service: Local moving

I used Sitterly to move me within town in Western Mass in the fall of 2019. They gave a competititive quote, it was accurate, they were on time, and there was no damage to our furniture. The head of the moving crew was a funny, friendly guy and there was good communication throughout the entire process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

These guys were great! Professional, curious, careful, prompt and very efficient. Tom Wine was great to work with, and all of the workers were super-like one of the family. I may be missing some of the workers; but here are the names of the guys as I remember. Alfredo, Steve, Jim, Hector, Ryan, Richard, Wes, Tim, Alex, Raphael and Jonathan. These guys are the BEST. By far the best moving experience we've ever had! Tom helped give us an accurate quote and was responsive with any questions we had. The team on the day which consisted of Barry, Steve, Jaime and Brian were friendly, professional and hard-working. Moving can be such a stressful experience and these guys made our life so much easier and we can't recommend Sitterly Movers enough!

My experience with Sitterly movers exceeded my expectations! My team included Nate Perez, Hector Perez, and Jose Bey. These guys were amazing-fast, careful and efficient. They were thoughtful and engaging and worked tirelessly with smiles on their faces. They made a very stressful experience pretty much stress free. I highly recommend these movers! Great job!

Great experience with Sitterly movers. I researched many moving companies before deciding on them. Brian came out and gave us a written estimate for the move, which seemed like a decent price. To save money the whole house was packed, and everything was ready for the movers when they showed up. We moved all lamps and pictures too. Our house close date was moved like three times and Sitterly was willing to change the move date along with us.
We learned on Tuesday at 4pm that we had to move Thursday morning, and Sitterly somehow fit us in. The truck showed up Thursday morning at 8:20 am, and the guys were loading the truck within five minutes. They worked nonstop like beasts until the whole trucked was remarkably packed like a damn Tetris game by 12:30 noon. They protected the floors and door jambs of house.
Plus they moved in the cold and pouring rain. After the truck was loaded they said they were going to lunch for like a half hour. They got to the new house at 1:20, and were unloading by 1:25 in the still pouring rain. The whole truck was emptied, and all beds assembled by 4:30. The guys were absolutely soaked. For the most part all labeled boxes were in the right place.
We actually left while they were moving to sign the close papers on the house. The only thing I found broke was the bottom of our chiminea, that was broke off, which wasn't a huge deal. Total move time was 7 1/2 hours, including 30 minutes travel time. We were estimated at 8 hours. At the end of the move we were given paper work with 9 1/2 hours, which pissed me off, because it was inaccurate.
The head mover said we could call and complain, so we did, and money was taken off. We still paid about $200 extra, plus I tipped each guy $60 each. Total move was like $2300, including $180 for insurance. Everything was good, and the move a success considering the horrible weather. They even came back a day or two later to return the air filter cover from my lawn mower that must of fell off in their truck.
I did not like being hustled at the end though. If you use them make sure you record when they show up, leave, show up, and leave again. Next time I would not get the optional $180 insurance.

I would recommend Sitterly Movers for any moving needs. The team of Richie Jackson, Walter, Jose, Jim and Moodie were the BEST! It is nice to work with a group that seem to really enjoy what they do and made me feel that they were going to take care of me and THEY DID! Moving is stressful and they made the process of actually moving my home go smooth. We also came in under budget - thanks to Tom whose estimations on what it would take to move accurate! Thanks again!

Excellent service from start to finish. Brian was excellent at working with our families needs and was quick to respond to any and all questions. Moving days went great. We were under time restraint and despite the heat and our challenging drive way - the crew worked hard to finish in time. Jeremy, Stephen, Jim D., David - courteous, energetic, respectful of our things.
The second day of moving Nick, Carlos, Joshua, David all did a really good job as well. Would recommend to friends and use again. Thanks for making our transition to our new home seamless!

I'm disappointed with the service. I've hired them to just load the trailer I've rented for my long distance move. All the boxes were packed in the garage and labeled in order: load first, second, load last, so all they have to do is load accordingly in the trailer. They finished their work in 1.5 hours but charged me for 3 hours (they said travel time.
Since I was very busy with the move I didn't check that; it turned out after that it only takes 15 minutes to get to my house and 15 minutes to go back - that is 30 minutes - what happened to the extra hour?! I would really like to know - I should get a refund for that extra hour.) I thought they are professional, but it turned out that they loaded heavy boxes over light boxes, given that I've labeled the boxes don't put boxes on top and handle with care.
When I received the shipment, the boxes were damaged/broken. Also, I've asked them to secure the load since it's a long distance with ropes and straps as suggested by the moving company but they refused to do. When I removed the bulk head at the destination to unload - which by the way didn't know how to install because they didn't want to read and follow the instructions - I've noticed that the load has shifted; some boxes and other items (TV and a huge painting) were upside down and was tricky to take out, some fell and broke - again they didn't secure it with ropes. Hopefully, management considers these reviews and shares with their employees to improve the service.

I had a good local move with Sitterly Movers - they showed up on time with nothing broken, scratched, or lost and they moved me very quickly. Although I did not follow them to the destination and they took about 30+ minutes to drive about 5 miles so I was unsure what happened because I was charged for that time. Other than that, the movers were very kind and friendly!

This is a fantastic company! I recently received a job offer in Boston and needed to relocate from Hartford within a very short time period. Sitterly came out to my apartment a couple days after I called them, and gave me a very accurate and reasonable quote. The day of the move the guys showed up on time and ready to go. They worked, quickly, professionally and took care of all of my delicate and treasured friends (My TV, Couch and Mariah Carey CD collection).
The movers were pleasant, respectful, friendly and didn't complain once about the cold weather. I'm usually pretty OCD about strangers touching my stuff, but these guys made me very comfortable. The Sitterly Movers, made a potentially stressful situation, stress free! I would 100% recommend them in the future! Thanks Sitterly!

I have moved 7 times in 7 years using all different movers (local and not) and this experience was by far the best. Bill came to give me an accurate estimate and was a pleasure to work with. The moving crew - Brian, Ryan, Tim, and Victor-- were awesome and got the job done quickly. Their great personalities and positive attitude actually made the moving day fun (how does that even happen?) They were all extremely hard workers and made sure we were satisfied with everything. I will certainly be recommending this company to everyone! Thanks for everything!

Terrific experience with this company! They, quite literally, "saved the day" for my college freshman daughter packing up dorm room to leave for summer break. She originally contracted with another company which came to campus, signed kids up, and gave them a max of 4 boxes to fill, after which company would pick up, store for the summer, and then re-deliver in the fall. Sounded great until daughter had more stuff than 4 boxes would hold. and this "other" company wouldn't give her anymore!
To make matters worse, this realization occurred on a Wednesday, and her flight back home was Friday, so she only had a day and a half to figure something out. Sitterly Moving & Storage to the rescue! "Kelly" was great with her can-do attitude, working thru logistics and keeping both mother & daughter (hundreds of miles apart) calm. Within a few short hours, a Sitterly crew was at my daughter's dorm room door with the extra boxes she needed.
She filled them, sealed them, and the moving crew hauled them away. Problem solved, crisis averted! Needless to say, we will be working EXCLUSIVELY with Sitterly from now on. Great job, Sitterly! Great job! -BP

I had Sitterly move me frm Agawam Ma to Naples Fl they came out & was courteous & on time but thts all tht they can do a driver named Bernard drove my stuff half way and I guess he didn't want to work so he told another driver to take the load the rest of the way even tho your contract states tht the same driver tht picks up / drops off and during the switch the driver tht picked all my stuff up throws it outta his truck and into another where he broke my brand new master bedroom set he ripped the headboard right off & didn't have the balls to even contact me to tell me anything about it also during this time a few boxes disappeared just happns to be the box w/my wife's Jewelry in it imagine tht!
Well I wish the story was over but it's not the other driver who finished the job frm the first drive this truck breaks down for a day and a half in Tampa so where hanging around the empty home for a week now with nothing in it waiting on a broking truck the time he got here I was just happy to see the rest of the stuff tht they didn't break or steal my advice STAY AWAY!

I had this company come out to my home in MA to give me an estimate on a long distance move, which is standard practice. They sent a guy named Dean Brannigan, and we did the tour of my house and he provided a written estimate. Due to their location close to my house and my need for boxes, I sincerely wanted to do business with them, but I had some issues with their estimate.
Even though they tout their fleet as "fuel efficient", their fuel surcharge was DOUBLE the other estimates I had received (Allied, United). They also wanted to charge me $250 to crate a table top, which is outrageous. They also had this other thing about providing "free" insurance, and it obviously wasn't "free". I contacted Dean and told him I would crate the table top, and to see if he could do anything about the fuel surcharge that was making their estimate higher than the others.
I simply asked him to "tighten up his quote". Not only did he not revise the estimate, he didn't even bother getting back to me. Probably a good thing that I found out their Customer Service is horrible BEFORE I signed up to move with them. I would definitely steer clear of this company. Something about the way they operate is slimy. I'm going with Allied.
