This company came highly recommended from a friend. after my experience, neither one of us is recommending the company to any of our friends in the DC area. I was accurate in representing the locations we needed to move items from (a studio apartment, and a small storage unit nearby) and to (a small condo). The original quote was a fair price, however, I feel that I experienced misleading business practices.
The day before our move, they called and explained we actually had to pay for an additional man to participate in our move, SIGNIFICANTLY increasing the price. Of course, we had no option but to say yes to this. If we would have received this info weeks in advance, we would have gone with a different company.

Dayton and crew were awesome, can't recommend more highly. They arrived within the 1 hour window. They went over pricing very thoroughly with me before hand, everything was clear and transparent. The guys were lightning-fast and packed my truck like Tetris. Moved my large 1br in 1 hour. My last move with the same amount of stuff took 3 hours. Awesome experience for what is always a stressful time, thank you!

I do not recommend at all! First, the team was supposed to arrive between 9-10am - they didn't come until 11:15. No call, no update. I had to call the office to get an ETA. When I did get an update, Ilearned that they had a trucking issues, but no one called to say hey we're running behind, but coming. When they finally arrived, Jermaine, the head/main mover was unprofessional, rude and disrespectful because they had a other move right after me and it looked like I had a lot of stuff.
He point blank told me I was "getting over". He not only spoke rudely to me but my mother who came to help. Come to find out the issue was steps and a long walk from the apartment to the truck. I felt that issue should've been taken up with the scheduler and not me. The only thing that saved this move was Mr. Tommy Willams. This was a hard move because of the steps, but he persevered and maintained a happy attitude. He even went out his way to help me with other things outside his requirements. LOVED HIM! Get a mover like him, but not this company.

I moved to NYC from DC in January and the load up in DC was great. They were slightly delayed but that was understandable. They loaded the truck up quickly and arrived punctually the following morning in NYC. However, once they arrived one of the movers seemed out of it. He was extremely careless dropping my furniture repeatedly and breaking my desk.
He refused to apologize and complained the entire move that he didn't want to be doing this job. The other two movers apologized and did a great job. When I filed a damage claim they responded but have yet to provide me reimbursement. They confirmed my damage claim and the reimbursement amount on 2/1 however as of 3/7 I have not received payment yet.
I assumed they are giving me the run around hoping I eventually give up and forget about the payment. Every time I respond they say to give it "2-3 business days" and then I do not hear back until I reach out again. This is extremely unprofessional and shady. I do not recommended using them.

District Relocators were incredible and made our move so easy. They were quick, efficient, and had us moved out and into our new apartment in less than 90 minutes! They wrapped all of our valuables and took good care of our more delicate furniture. Highly recommend their services for anyone moving in the DMV.

Wow, these guys are amazing! 1. We sent a request for quote and we had very reasonable estimate provided. All the details are spelled out in the quote unlike other moving companies. Since we had a 1 bedroom 900sq ft and we're moving 0.8 miles, it would generally cost ($350) for 3 movers over 3 hours. That includes fuel and other typical charges, as well as a $50 discount. 2.
They had availability for our date but were pending a DC parking permit application so could lock down a date for 2 weeks. By the time we had it, the evening spot was available so we booked it. No deposit required. They would arrive any time between 1-3pm and call when here. 3. At 1:30pm we had 4 movers arrive and they promptly parked in our reserved spots and started unloading all their supplies.
It took about 5 minutes and they are a hard working bunch with an assembly line style. Super efficient! When I walked up to the apartment with one of the movers we first sat down to review the estimate. There are additional charges if time exceeded 3 hours and there were stairs. As we did not have expensive pieces, we just used the free insurance at $.60/lb.
We were impressed by Derrick Dave Chris and Lillay. I basically sat on the sofa and used my phone for the 2 hours it took them to move everything out. They retaped anything that looked questionable. They disassembled and assembled our bed. They carefully moved all ten of our large art pieces! 4. Upon meeting us at our new location, they assessed the setup.
I actually forgot there were 4 stairs instead of a ramp and that the door was very narrow. Nonetheless, they moved everything quickly in about 1.5 hours! As boxes and items were brought up, they would ask me where the boxes belonged. In the Future, I would Label these on all the boxes. I was actually able to start unpacking while they brought things up.
Ultimately our table didn't fit in the loading dock door, but they managed to get it in the front door. 5. At the ends, they reviewed costs. I paid chef to avoid a 3% credit card fee. With 3.5 hours and some stairs our adjusted cost was $450. It was a great deal and amazing service. Is highly recommend them to anyone!

This is my second time using District Relocators for moving but my first time using their packing services. The entire moving process was stress free due to the great service before the move and from the guys who did the packing and moving. The movers we're extremely efficient and nothing was broken or damaged. Will definitely be using District Relocators in the future.

Absolutely amazing service! I would give them 10 stars if I could. They were professional, kind, careful with my items, worked efficiently, navigated my DC neighborhood well with a very large truck & even labeled my boxes for me for easy delivery to rooms in my new home. I've never had this degree of satisfaction when moving. I am referring them to everyone I know from this day forward. Don't hesitate, just book them!

My recent move with District Relocators was the best overall move experience I've had during 25 years in DC. I honestly can't think of what would make it better. The guys were on time, friendly, flexible, thorough and fast. The communication and cost transparency leading up to the move date was excellent. On top of everything they were more reasonably priced than some of the bigger name companies with more reviews. Great job!
