As firefighter and paramedic Peter Warhurst watched a boat get lifted by a hydraulic machine, he suddenly had his light bulb moment. Peter had seen too many families lose homes due to fire, struggling to find a way to keep their things safe and secure during a time of unexpected transition and need.

I wish I could give them zero stars. PODS has been the absolute worst moving experience I have ever had. If you are thinking about using Pods - DO NOT DO IT. YOU WILL ONLY HAVE A MAJOR HEADACHE AND LOSS OF MONEY. ___________________________________ I moved from Detroit to Nashville. The initial phone call was fine, and the man I spoke with was nice.
He walked me through the steps to confirm everything and made sure my documents were signed and everything was ready to go. I got the dates for every step, with my pod delivery date at my new apartment being 6/8. Flash forward a few days, my pod is filled AND picked up by the company. I then get a random email saying "Thank you for contacting us about your order.
As you requested, your order has been updated." I never requested a change and thought that was odd - when I log in, it says my rental agreement needs to be signed. I assume this is just a mistake in their system and they were maybe updating that it was picked up and hit a wrong button. An hour later (which I don't see until the next day), I get an email (from an outbox that you cannot reply to and there is no contact info with) saying my ORDER HAS BEEN CANCELLED, WHILE THEY HAVE MY POD AND ALL OF MY THINGS CURRENTLY IN THEIR WAREHOUSE.
I scramble to get on the phone with customer service and they tell me I'm missing my rental agreement and make me RE-SIGN the documents I already submitted a week ago. Because of this mistake on THEIR end, my pod delivery is now pushed to 6/9. Annoying, but not the end of the world. I drive down to Nashville on 6/4, expecting my things to be there 5 days later. Apparently, on my drive, I received another cryptic email with the EXACT same language that my requested change has been made.
I don't see the email until I'm settled 2 days later. I log in, and what do I see? My deliver date has now moved to JUNE 21ST, 2 WEEKS AFTER IT WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED. I received no phone call. No explanation. No NOTHING. I, yet again, call customer service only to be told sorry, nothing we can do, and we don't have any notes in your account as to why this happened.
They finally submit a deliver dispute and I'm told someone will call me in 48-72 hours. Long story short, I try calling later that week and every time the timeframe for someone to get back to me extends until it's 7-10 business days. As of about a week and a half later, I still had not gotten a single person reaching out to me or trying to help.
I finally call again another few days later and was told someone has been assigned to my case and should be reaching out. I get asked to be sent to her phone, I of course get her voicemail and leave a message. Suddenly, 10 minutes later I have an email from her that they're currently looking into the case but it could take UP TO 30 OR MORE DAYS to have any kind of compensation figured out.
She asks for any receipts of items I had to buy while I was missing all of my things, which I did not save (my mistake for sure) but now need to try and look up in all of my online accounts. I finally get my pod delivered on 6/21. I didn't book the pick-up date because I was not certain they wouldn't move this date again, so once I get the delivery timeframe, I log in to book the final pick-up of my pod.
The soonest availability they have is 2 weeks later. past the 1 month retainer I'm given as part of this horrendous process. I book the date but call customer service AGAIN to ensure I will NOT be charged the extra month because I would have been within the month had they not pushed my delivery 2 weeks. I'm told I will not be charged. Well.
As of this morning, I was charged another $250 on top of the already paid $2100, and they are still not picking up my pod until 7/6. I called and left a voicemail with the woman who is supposed to be handling my account this morning and have not heard anything. I am angry and tired and frustrated, and this has been the single worst experience working with a company that I have ever had.
I will never do business with them again and highly recommend you all do the same. They lie on their website with the reviews and they take advantage of people across the country. Please consider using literally any other moving company.

RUN! Do not give them, your credit card number NO MATTER What.unless you can afford to be robbed. I experienced their arrogance and egregious, blatant DISHONESTY. They think they can literally rob you with impunity. Their unethical business practices has earned them an 'F' rating with the Better Business Bureau.go read the backlog of hundreds of unresolved complaints. Just find another way. The agents on the phone are pleasant, but these people are completely corrupt.

I rarely post reviews but feel myself compelled to save anyone the nightmare that we've been through with this company. I am shocked that they are even in business. Yes they delivered my belongings but overcharged me 3 times, were NO SHOW to pick it up 3 times and every time we've called they say they have no record of our phone call. Our last conversation was with a so-called manager Mario Pacheco who assured us the POD would be picked up within the hour.
It is now 5 hours later and we have been on hold for 1 hour after the rep said there is no record of that pick up. We have an email from Mr Pacheco but of course it is a no reply email. Don't use this company. We also used U-Pack and they were so much better. Arrived when scheduled and billed as agreed upon.

Is it possible to give negative stars? NEGATIVE 10 STARS! This has been the WORST customer service experience of my life, extended over multiple weeks involving multiple phones calls, often lasting over an hour, speaking with multiple customer service representatives with each call, being routed repeatedly to different departments, explaining myself AGAIN, seeming to end up at a solution, only to follow up later and realize absolutely nothing has been done and starting YET AGAIN at square one.
This includes having had a moving date scheduled, scheduling movers then getting a call the day before our scheduled move in and being canceled on without even offering alternatives. WTF! Like seriously, WTF?!?! Weeks later still no stuff, no option to schedule a date, or being given options, thinking things were going to happen, following up and once again NOPE! AAAAAAaRrRRrRRrRrggGggGggGgGgghhHHHHhHHHHHHH!
Why are they even bothering recording the calls. Is it just to protect themselves in future lawsuits? Aren't these calls discoverable in a lawsuit? Will they conveniently be missing or erased then? It's certainly not to improve customer service. Or if it is then please take the hours of my recorded calls and study them. It has effectively become a part-time job to try to get my stuff to my home.
The whole frickin' reason to pick PODS was for the ease of door to door service. NOTHING about this has been easy. This has been the absolute worst during an already stressful time. Weeks later I am still dealing with this. DO NOT USE PODS!

Yet another "wonderful" experience with PODS and I wish I could give them NEGATIVE stars. RECAP: A previous review I did here on Yelp concerned their lack of customer service response when I found out they left a POD on my FORMER driveway for over a month back in November 2021. I also had an issue with them a few months later when they billed me for mileage in February of this year that I had already paid for in December of LAST year.
Long story short - they blamed it on a software upgrade issue, but nothing happened to refund my credit card until AFTER I got so frustrated that I filed a dispute with the credit card company. Trying to work with PODS themselves got me ZERO results on both occasions. UPDATE 3/24/2022: I thought it was over. Then I got my March Credit Card Bill - and an over $4000 jump in my balance that I had no idea about.
Research with the credit card company rep. showed that, 4 days after refunding my money for the fraudulent mileage charge (which PODS admitted was an error), THEY BILLED ME AGAIN. I will not even attempt to work with PODS on this one. I immediately filed another dispute with the credit card company, and urge EVERYONE to use more than due diligence if you make the mistake of working with PODS for your move. Again, if I could give NEGATIVE stars for them, I would. They don't deserve the tip of one star point for a review.

Thought using the PODS service would be convenient and cost efficient, but my expirence has turned into a ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I loaded a Pod with my life's work, every family picture and a lifetime of memories/belongings and can not get my pod redelivered. I'm getting the run arounds, while they collect payments and I incur financial hardship and mental anguish.
I was assigned a Pods Customer Advocacy Specialist to help facilitate my issue, but they have made no contact other than to inform me they were assigned to my case. They have not responded to email, phone calls or the fax I sent.yup I sent a freaking fax and nothing!

The absolute WORST company ever. We purchased a home in February of 2020 and the seller of our home used PODS to move his things. The PODS driver broke the wall in front of our house and it has remained broken for a YEAR. I filed a complaint with BBB and the case manager closed our case and marked it as resolved. Unbelievable. Our wall is still broken and nothing has been resolved.
The wall continues to get worse and PODS just ignores us. It's literally a $2,000 fix for a multi-billion dollar company. Don't use this company if you want your property to be respected and taken care of. Do use this company if you wish to be completely disrespected and your property damaged.

It's too bad they won't allow you to leave a quarter*because I must warn everyone about pods moving and storage. I'm a fair man but they blew it. They came and got the POD on time after we loaded it up they took my money quickly but getting my stuff back in a timely manner was a fiasco. Between their main number and their dispatch group there was so much confusion that my moving got delayed and finally I got one person on the line who fixed it.
But that was after a lot of trial and error. Then finally when they did return the pod they broke one of our lawn sprinkler irrigation heads and drove over two of our plants and when I filed a claim they ghosted me. I've heard from them twice in an email but that's it I've had to call back six times as of today and still have not gotten any resolution.
Of course I've made the repairs in my home out of my own pocket but I don't think that PODS will ever come clean. So I cannot recommend PODS at all. Beware of their good reviews on their website. Look around and you'll see many others like mine. I don't like to leave bad reviews for anybody but pods moving and storage just blew it with me. Beware.

First of all, they put the pod in facing away from the condo building. I was also billed twice in one month, and it took them 4 months to refund my money. I called several times about the billing issue, and each time I was told some one would call me back. I email the gentlemen over-seeing my account about the billing issue, and it took him 5 weeks to respond to my email.
I received a quote on how much it would cost to have the pod moved to the new locations and was given a confirmation number. When I call to schedule the move using the confirmation number two days later, I was told that price was no longer any good, even though they told me quotes are good for seven days. The customer service reps rarely know what's going on when you call them.
It was overall convenient to move my things and store them in the short time I had to move, and because I didn't have a home yet to put my things right away, it all worked out, but this company can do a better job in every area.

We had our POD picked up in Miami, Florida on Dec. 17th, 2021. Today is January 5th, 2022 and the POD has not begun to be transported to the destination in Calfiornia. On the customer service website there is no delivery time available. I have called over ten times to the customer service number and written an email to the logistics specialist (who does not answer emails).
Most of the time, I am put on hold and the call is dropped or I am sent back to the menu of options. No one returns phone calls or takes responsbility for finding me answers. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Would be 5 stars if storage pro-rated, mileage cost less, scheduling more flexible, and lock worked. I went 4 days over and was charged full month anyway. Almost $300. I was unable to schedule drop off on the days I needed and trying to reschedule pick up online resulted in error messages. Only available for drop off and pick up on certain days. Bought a lock from PODs and key broke off inside the lock when I turned it. Lucky, movers contacted their boss who came to the rescue with bolt cutters and didn't charge me the half our wasted on breaking into the POD.

ZERO STARS. ABSOLUTE GARBAGE COMPANY! They dropped off a random persons pod in my driveway and left it there for 3 days! I called 3 times on day one, twice on day two and once on day three! The first two times I was assured by pods customer service that a driver was coming within the hour. The third time I called on day one, the representative kept putting me on hold, then hung up on me.
I immediately called back they were closed! While I was on hold the 3rd time on day one, I had my husband call on his cell phone and they picked up right away! They were avoiding my call! I called twice on day 2 and both representatives told me the driving company will try to squeeze me in but no promises even though the representative the day before assured me were top priority and the pod would be moved in the early morning!
A driver finally came day 3 in the afternoon. I am shocked and absolutely livid by the fact that the Pods company dropped off a RANDOM pod at my house even though I have NEVER contacted this company and LEFT IT IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR 3 DAYS!

After the initial interaction with Marcia, the rep that set up the service, it was a very very very bad and negative experience. First of all, the local agents in the Washington DC area located in Fairfax Va was not very helpful with anything, not even accurate time of drop off. After the pod finally got delivery, it was not the size as agreed upon in the signed legal document.
It was a 7 footer, not an 8 footer as the contract stated. The size difference is a major difference for a cross country move. The pickup of the container was a nightmare. I gave implicit instructions of where the lid was and how to retrieve it. It finally got picked up two weeks after the pick up date. After that fiasco, the "senior customer service rep", told me that the delay was basically not her problem and I had only two days to empty the container of I would be charged for a month of storage.
The DID charge me but I called and they eventually reversed the charge. The brand promise and brand customer service is dramatically different from the image they portray. This was the worse moving experience I have experienced and I have done over 20 movea thru the military and as a civilian. If I ever had to do a cross country move again, I would rather go thru the arduous process of loading and driving anything available not me than use PODS again.

Thieves, absolutely the worse experience I ever had. I would never ever use them again. They charged me over $3000 because of a mistake by a new associate and they would never hold themselves to an ethical or moral standards to correct it and do what is right. The quote I got in an email vs what they charged is basically $3000 more. I basically pegged them to go back and listen to the conversations that took place on November 22nd and November 23rd and to check email sent to me with quote that is valid until November 29 and they would never do it so I can get my credit money back. In comparison to UHAUL it is night and day. they are so much better than this ruthless company

WORST MOVERS EVER! Dropped off the last of my furniture to a pod and told staff it was OK to ship it to GA. After travel to GA, settled into new job and started home shopping. After closing 3 months later I called to get directions to pod and they said was still in NM. I had saved voicemail of confirmation that pod had been shipped. I complained and even with voicemail proof I was told it was my fault for not following up with them everyday. Never use these people ever!

I completed my experience with PODS three months ago and submitted all payments. Now I have discovered that PODS was charging me a monthly contents protection fee that I DID NOT agree to pay. I have been in full possession of all of my contents for months. My credit card company alerted me to the charge, and I assumed it was a one-time fraudulent attempt, but I logged back in to discover that PODS has been taking my money WITHOUT my consent.
I have tried contacting customer service but evidently no one can access my account, and the billing department doesn't even have an email address. They told me it appears to be a systems error and yet can't do anything to fix it. I am getting emails from PODS telling me this fraudulent payment is overdue! This is completely unacceptable and I cannot believe they can get away with this.

I had a 2600 mile move. Here's the deal with city moves with PODS: 1. They can't guarantee a window to drop off or pickup, which in a city leaves your stuff vulnerable. 2. Their call center is in-bound calls only; so after you hold for 10 minutes & then talk to a live person & then get put on hold again for 10 minutes & then get disconnected, they can't call you back. 3.
When their national call center contacts the local POD place for delivery/pickup it is via email, so not timely AND you'll never get a phone number to contact them! The individual truck drivers are AWESOME, professional & friendly, but the formula for customer service is AWFUL. If you can use regular movers, do it.

Our house was flooded by a contractor, and we had to move all our belongings into storage PODs and gut the house. It was devastating. We had our belongings in 2 PODS on our property. One was a new looking metal/fiberglass POD. The other was old and made of wood. It looked like a giant wood crate wrapped in corrugated plastic. Both PODs were in the same area of our yard, right next to each other during construction.
The junky wooden POD became infested with mice. When we went to unload it, our belongings were ruined. There was a mouse nest in our couch and loveseat. We lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff. The newer looking POD was fine. No mice. When I contacted PODs after they picked it up, they told me they couldn't see where mice could have possibly entered the POD, therefore they weren't responsible.
When they picked the POD up it was loaded with mouse droppings. I suppose they think we opened the door and invited the mice in. made then some nice nests, and then invited them to destroy our remaining worldly possessions. It was a devastating loss on top of a devastating loss. They failed us big time. And customer service wasn't even kind or sorry, they were basically like, not our fault.
Tough luck. I'd never recommend PODs, and at the very least, if they show up with a POD the looks like it was fished out of the Titanic, send it away. One good POD, one awful POD, and garbage customer service.

Back in October, more than 2 weeks before the 9th of Sept, I tried to schedule a pickup/move of a POD cross country. The website didnt work, said there was an error and that i had to call in. So i did. Was on the phone more than an hour. The agent said she couldnt do it through thier computer systems either, so she had to submit a paper form, which she did. Told me it was scheduled for pickup on the 9th.
No show on the 9th. I called that afternoon of the 9th and was told that the paperwork was filed, but they did something wrong, so it never got scheduled. New agent re-scheduled for the 11th. Said the schedule was at the back end team being "updated", and that i should call on the 10th to make sure all was good. Called on the 10th, no schedule was on the account.
Agent looking into it said the schedule was at the back end team being "updated". No show on the 11th. Called back AGAIN afternoon of the 11th. He reached out to the Van Nuys office and talked to someone that said it was scheduled to be picked up on the 13th at 7:30am, and that i would get an email by end of Sunday with confirmation. No email Sunday.
No show on the 13th (Monday). Called Monday morning. Nothing scheduled again. Agents telling me we need supervisors again, but none are availalble. She was trying. Now waiting for a call back within 30 minutes. Never got a call back. Drove to the Van Nuys distribution center, talked to a guy there that looked at my account. It still with the triage team.
He has no way other way to contact anyone. There are pages of notes on my account, and yet, NOTHING is being done. I have been contact 0 times. I have now spent more than 6 hours on the phone with PODS, and have gotten NOWHERE. Called back Tuesday afternoon, close to closing time. Was talking to yet another agent when he decided he needed to transfer me to another dept.and they never picked up the phone. Waitied 30 min, then hung up as they were closed. Now im posting this everwhere i can. There doesnt seem to be any alternative other than to tell people not to use them. Ill start calling moving companies tomorrow.

TL;DR - PODS has awful customer service and don't expect to receive your POD when they say. Ours is delayed 10days and counting. We decided to use them based on their "good reviews". However, when you check the websites where they receive ~4 star reviews, those websites don't have a place for people to provide their own reviews. I'm pretty sure PODS bought those good reviews.
On ConsumerAffairs.org where PODS has 4/5 stars it says, "ConsumerAffairs is not a government agency and may be compensated by companies displayed." Pretty much sums it up. Everywhere else with real reviews has been a different (terrible) story. Go read them for yourself and make sure there's a place folks can post their own reviews! Onto my situation.
They seemed really competent when we got our quote and booking set, but everything went downhill from there quick. Shortly after booking I called to change the initial drop off date, and received a confirmation email with the new date. However the POD arrived on the original date. Turns out the they just submitted a "quote" to change the date and never actually booked it. FAIL.
Then 24h before our delivery date at the new home we were informed it would be delayed 10days! I've tried calling customer service numerous times and get told someone from the "customer advocacy department" will call back which has yet to happen and its been 6 days. It doesn't seem like they're really my advocate if they won't call back and work for PODs.
Their customer service team is trained to give people the run around and get them off the line rather than actually help them. Don't believe their BS if they tell you there are no supervisors available. They're there, just need to twist their arm to get to talk to one. In summary, I still don't have our POD. It's been 100+ temps with the heatwave in the northwest, all our fans are in the POD and have been unable to buy fans anywhere including Craigslist. We won't have it for another 5 days IF they actually deliver when they say they will.

DO NOT USE PODS. This is one of the worst businesses I've ever worked with. Please check the BBB site and other reviews before you consider using PODs. They used to have an F rating but now they're not even accredited with BBB. They never said they couldn't drop the pod on the street. The driver showed up, was rude, then left. I had to reschedule the moving labor. PODs then charged me an additional $80 to drop and pick up in the same day.
Wait times for customer service are ~30min and up to an hour. The POD measurements are from the outside. This amounts to 120 sq ft less than what they advertise. It's taken 3 months for them to finally get back to me on my dispute only for them to tell me they aren't going to do anything to correct the issues we had. The drop off driver was late, didn't call, and refused to drop it where I asked them to (huge wide-open concrete pad).

Despite reviews I decided to trust them. BIGGEST MISTAKE! I thought if I plan in advance and learn mistakes people had, I will be different and will get the desired service. How WRONG I was. This company tries to be modern and tech. They succeed and neither. They work as an old legacy machine, when no one can help and you get transferred from one department to another.
Here is my story. On my existing reservation that I made two months ago I asked them do add container delivery service (planned to bring our stuff to their location in the first place). Michael, the representative, (oh, I will remember for a long time) said: "I'm having some technical difficulties, let me create new reservation and cancel the old one. It's ready".
Once I opened new reservation he created I was shocked: prices doubled. I asked: "why?". He said: "prices change every day". Neither he had my consent to cancel my old order, nor informed me about this dramatic price change. When I asked how to return it back to normal, he dropped the phone. I tried to call back - it's been already after hours and no one was available.
Next time I called they said special department will handle it within 48-72 hours. That department really called me back to say some other department will handle it within 3 business day. It's been a week after that call. I'm so mad I trusted them and they can't handle their own mistakes in the respectful manner. NEVER EVER I'm going to use them.

I don't write Yelp reviews but I really want people to know about something that happened yesterday as the forklift operator picked up our packed Pod. Basically, as he was inserting the forklift prongs into the slots under the Pod, he swung so wide that he caused significant property damage. There were multiple massive hits that people heard throughout our neighborhood. Based on the security video footage that was taken, the operator was entirely aware of what he was doing.
Once he finally aimed in the right direction, he took the Pod and drove off. As far as I know, he never told anyone about what he did. Take a look at what he did our apartment's awning, pole, and curb. I've seen similar curb/driveway damage reports in Pods reviews, with no accountability taken in any that I was able to find. Hard to see how this is anything but Pods' fault and thus their liability.
You can be sure I'll update this review with whatever happens next. (Also, last month, after hearing about the stuff we were moving, the customer-service person told us we'd be fine with one small Pod for our 1-bedroom apartment. We had no reason not to believe her. Well, that small Pod was about 30% too small, forcing a last-minute U-Haul rental that would have been entirely avoidable if she'd done more to learn what we have.
We trusted her experience, as we had no sense of scale for these things. [What customer service person misses an opportunity to upsell? Pods might want to work on its training for call center reps and forklift operators.] Now we need to redo our entire move-in timing and spend ~$700 extra because Pods screwed up and 30% of our stuff needed to go in a U-Haul.) TL; DR: Pods did a nasty hit-and-run on our property. Pods has a history of shirking responsibility. Pod was too small and led to massive ongoing logistical headaches for our move.

I was home alone when the company arrived to deliver the POD for the woman taking over my apartment in July. When the man arrived, I tried to tell him where the landlord had said the container could go to avoid blocking the parking spots for the downstairs tenants and to avoid blocking our own moving truck. The man from PODS was extremely rude, told me he and only he was going to decide where it went, regardless of who it bothered.
He also cursed at an elderly man in a wheelchair who was coming to visit his daughter next door, yelling at him to get out of his way. He was also not wearing a mask or gloves or any kind of protective equipment. I have nothing against this company per se, and I am not the one who hired them so I can't speak to their pricing or efficiency, but if these are the types of invidividuals in their employ, I wouldn't want to be the one dealing with them.
