My one word of advise would be to carefully watch and monitor the pack up and unpack process for when you get your final bill. I felt my bill (which they knew was being paid by a top notch insurance company ) seemed quite inflated.

They may be reasonable in price but we had a really bad experience with this company. I'm shocked they are affiliated with such a reputable company like Allied Van Lines. We had to store our items in the truck at their facility for 5 days. The day of the move in, we realized that a lot of valuable things went missing. Power tools, TV, kitchen appliances, jewelry cabinet, etc.

They say their facility is gated, secure and locked down but it is not. I went and parked in their lot to find employees driving their personal vehicles in and out of the building. Strange isn't it? I happen to get one of the movers cell phone number (he paints on the side) and he told me when they brought the van in, he told the owner that the lock on the truck was broken.

They moved us from NYC to San Francisco and were horrible. Our stuff was stored in a warehouse for a few nights before the driver came out to SF. He called us to let us know that there was an item missing from the manifest. He said the manifest said "storage bin", and I knew exactly what went missing. It was my husbands box of childhood video games, well worth over $2000, though considered priceless to us of course.

We paid for insurance of course, and when we filed a claim, they denied it, saying that they had no way of knowing what was actually in that box because they didn't pack it. Are you kidding me? They didn't even apologize. We had lawyers write letters and considered arbitration, though we were told it wasn't worth it for the value of the items stolen.

They wrote us a check for the cost of the insurance, and we're still missing the precious items stolen by their employees. I wish I could go back in time and not hire them. Seriously, AVOID doing business with these scumbags and their dishonest employees. Unless that is, you want to lose $2000 worth of priceless childhood items, spend your time scouring craigslist for your stolen items, and shed a lot of tears.

Worst moving company. After getting in touch with them through Allied and talking to an agent for a month and agreeing on terms, I found out recently that not only does that agent not work but the terms that we had agreed on are not honored by the company. Now, I'm struggling to get a mover last minute.

Please Read This Before Hiring This Mover! I contracted JD Carton to manage the move from my home in Staten Island NY to my new home in Bellmore NY. Due to the timing of the closing date for my new home, it was necessary to put my belongings in storage for a period of approximately one month. The first phase of the move occurred on June 27, when all of my belongings were picked up from my old home on Staten Island.

All items appeared to be tagged and inventoried as they were being put on the truck to be moved to their storage facility. I arranged for the second phase of the move to Bellmore NY for July 25. When the items were being removed from the truck, no one was checking off the items versus the orignal inventory. Then I began noticing many boxes coming off the truck that were completely mutilated and re-taped.

Several rather expensive items were heavily damaged, and many more were completely missing. I reported this to the company and given some claim forms to fill out. No one seems interested in resolving this matter and once I reported this to the Better Business Bureau, no one will even return my calls anymore.

Never use this company! I contracted them through Allied Van Lines, and they gave me a Total Price Guarantee move contract. However after they moved my belongings they charged me more than double (over $3300. more) than my contracted price and didnt even have the decency to contact me or tell me! They just charged my card. I've been disputing this for months and this company has actually falsified documents with my signature on them! Very poor business practices, no communication, and Illegal charges. Never Ever use this company! and Never ever give them your credit card number. Jut outrageous.

I would strongly recommend against anyone using this company. Below is a description of the awful experience that I had with JD Carton. The packers showed with absolutely no idea of what they were supposed to do. Other than the address they had no information. The lead of the crew asked multiple times "Are you sure this a full pack?". The packing crew did not show up with the correct materials.

They did not bring any wardrobe boxes for our clothes or a TV box. The packing crew did not show up with enough boxes. One of the members of the crew had to leave to go get more boxes. This extended the time it took them to pack. Boxes were not properly marked. I ended up with multiple boxes marked either "Pots and Pans" or "Dishes" that did not have those items in them.

Many boxes were just marked "Miscellaneous", there appeared to be no rhyme or reason why anything was marked as it was. Boxes were not properly packed. It appears that about halfway through the pack the team got tired of wrapping things and just started throwing everything in boxes. The packers did not show up with our original estimate. When I asked if the number of boxes was about what was estimated I was told, "I don't know, I don't have your estimate".

The problems continued the day of the move. The movers showed up an hour late. I had agreed with the salesman that JD Carton would provide a team of six movers, four showed up. After about two hours another two movers showed up, this lengthened the time it took us to move. The movers did not show up with wardrobe boxes. I was told by the packing team that the moving team (since the packers failed to bring boxes to pack our clothes) would bring them.

According to the lead on the moving crew "They never told us to bring wardrobe boxes". The team rigged up a TV box to hang some clothes and others were put in boxes. I believe this led directly to some of our clothes being lost on the move. A number of items of clothing seem to have been lost at some point in transit. The movers did not show up with any tools.

Again I was told by the crew foreman that the packers are suppose to provide this information and did not. I had a bed frame that needed to be taken apart, I had to borrow tools from one of the maintenance men in my building to allow the bed to be taken apart. Items were lost in transit. A couple of lamps and a number of items of clothing were lost.

I received a number of different quotes for this move, there were many other providers that were considerably less expensive. Considering what JD Carton charges, this kind of experience is unacceptable. Since the move I have tried to contact Brian, a VP at JD Carton. I have emailed him twice and left two voicemails. He refuses to respond. This is a company that should be avoided like the plague, they do not value their customers.

I did a very local move in the same town with J.D. Carton and was very impressed with 4 guys who did my move. I moved few times before and had few really bad experiences, so I was a little nervous. But everything went well. The movers were extremely professional and worked 10 hours straight, taking only 15 minutes for lunch. I only needed to move furniture and didn't need them to pack a lot of small items. But whatever needed to be packed was packed and they didn't charge me for packing material wich was a nice surprise. Definitely would recommend them.

Thought all may want to know. Went to court with JD Carton won a judgement and they refuse to honor it! I guess will have to sue Allied as well to collect

Used this company through Allied (they sub-contract) for a move from NJ to Boston. The movers were pretty quick and very nice. Things went relatively smoothly. Only hitch was the size of the truck that showed up since I had advised the company the driveway of the townhouse development was small and tricky. We worked through it though. Nothing was broken and all was in order. The person I dealth with at Allied was the best though -- very patient and answered all my questions.

If I could give this company less than 1 star, I would. We prepared to move for about two months and was in constant contact with John Paul. Two days before the trucks were supposed to be here, we talked to John Paul, making sure of the time. Moving day comes and no truck. We call to find out where they are and turns out their internal lines of communication got crossed and they put down our move date for the wrong month.

We called the main company because here we were, in a complete bind. We needed to be out by noon the next day. They were completely unhelpful, basically asking what we wanted them to do about it in a very snotty manner. They couldn't do anything for two weeks and that's that. In a house we have lived in for over 30 years, this was not a simple move and it was an emotional one.

I want to thank this poor excuse for a company for making a difficult time even more difficult. Even though we are moving out of the area, I will make sure no one I know EVER uses this company. I have never, in my life, had an experience such as this. Oh and the best part? To get another moving company with less than 12 hours notice will cost us an extra $4500. Thank you again, J.D. Carton & Sons for being the WORST company I have ever dealt with in my life. Congratulations. HORRIBLE. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. NEVER EVER USE UNDER ANY

This company is terrible. Did a local move with them and couldn't believe how much of my stuff got broken or damaged. The movers were literally throwing the boxes to each other in a effort to save time, which I never understood since they get paid by the hour. They also left stuff on the truck when they were finished which had to be delivered to me later, but only after weeks of being told by the office staff that nothing was left behind.

When I called about the large amount of damage to my stuff, they said it was my fault that I didn't buy the insurance from them (even though their sales rep told me it was not necessary) and that I should go through my homeowners insurance. They also have another tactic which I've seen them do on other review sites where they have fake reviewers make up fake reviews and post them in order to boost their score. This is a dishonest and poorly run company that should be avoided at all costs.

We used this company for a cross country move from NJ to CA. Needless to say it was one big mess. Amongst property damage, lost items being hung up on by their custiomer service specialist, misinformation over and over again and a very late arrival. I still do not have all my items, centimental items that cannot be replaced, items I know were in boxes that were now missing such as engraved baseball bats that I bought in Cooperstown for my two young boys never arrived but the stands that were in the same box did.hmmmm.

In any case I reached out to their customer service specialists, CEO, COO, Head of Sales with the note below (Email was sent on 3/7 - no response to date) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ms. Kane, This is contradictory to the information the Allied Accident Reporting agent provided.

The claim form deals with items that were shipped and damaged/lost. I will be dealing with the Sedgwick claims directly moving forward as I do not trust the competence of yourself and JD Carton. As a customer service "specialists" I find your practices to be unprofessional and rude. Please note we will be filing an official complaint to Allied against you and JD Carton for the following: 1. Hanging up on a PAYING customer. 2. Unprofessional movers in NJ.

The movers themselves argued with the driver throughout the move making my family, including a 5 and 2 year old extremely uncomfortable in my own home. The movers and driver spoke unprofessional against eachother to me directly shooting insults back and forth. 3. Lack of following through and communication regarding our delayed shipment. We were notified the day of that our shipment was being delayed while the driver remained 15 hours away.

A days work was missed due to the delay in communication. 4. The sales tactics used by your department to obtain our business. More specifically the additional permit cost. The sales representative assured us there were no additional costs. Finding out of this cost one day prior to our already delayed shipment. 5. The incompetence of the driver for the damages. Moving an 18 wheeler with the center doors open and ramp out - knocking down my mailbox and chipping the slate up my walkway to the house. 6.

The inaccurate information provided by you regarding our damage claim. 7. Through this process we continued to ask for a supervisor for reassurance and to escalate the above. This was avoided and never provided. Please be assured that the above will be communicated and dealt with at the highest level possible. I have also read similar cases on yelp about yourself and JD Carton.

Perhaps a revamping of JD Cartons business model and hired help is needed. Looks like the current generation may need a re-education on how to manage a business. Stay clear unless you like an abusive like experience.
