On August 1, 2021 Ship Smart picked up 1 room worth of items (7 boxes, my mattress, and 3 pieces of furniture) to move from Seattle to NYC. It is May 22, 2022 and I still do not have my items. The items were scheduled to be delivered on April 1, 2022 and after a vague phone call on April 1st saying they mistook my confirmation number with someone else's, my items never showed up.
They delivered my mattress the next day in horrible condition, see the pictures below and have claimed my items are missing BUT THEY STILL HAVE NO UPDATE ON WHERE THEY ARE. They are communicative so I will give them that, but I have been demanding phone call updates, explanations, and have asked for the actual movers and drivers phone numbers so I can start doing my own research and to no avail.
I asked for the address of the storage facility and also nothing. Ship Smart wont let me help or do my own investigation into where my items are. This last week we finally agreed to refund me for the service, but thats it! No compensation for the items lost. My entire life was in those boxes. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. How can they just lose someones entire life!? At minimum let me go scathe through the lost and found at the storage terminals!

I have used Ship Smart twice, to transport precious (to us) family items from my parents and from my childhood to my daughter on the East Coast. They have treated our items like they were worth a huge amount to anyone besides our family, and moved everything with care. Very pleased that Ship Smart has made improved communication and customer service a goal. I did not expect to receive outreach some months later, so the only way they even could have known anything was going on was by actively going over their yelp reviews. Trish reached out via email, discussed my issues, offered compensation for any damages, and ultimately, when I requested a discount on a future move (because I found they actually did a great job packing my stuff) offered fair compensation for the negative experience I already had, because my future move is too short of distance to discount.
This was an unexpected and pleasant surprise! Should I move more than 300 miles from where I am now, I will certainly use them again as all issues have been rectified, and Trish C was very pleasant--which is all it took to fix what happened before. Bravo, team, and thank you!

As part of my attempt to move a small number of items from one coast to the other, there was some confusion at the loading site regarding the contents of my contract. It resulted in far more items being moved then I had desired. In retrospect, I strongly recommend that individuals be present at the loading site when possible. It will help alleviate confusion and clarify any questions. That said, Ship Smart was able to reimburse me for the amount that was in question. Greatly appreciate their professionalism and responsiveness!

Please do NOT use this company. The company lost all of our boxes (34 total) and has not attempted to offer us any kind of compensation. They do not know where our belongings are and have not contacted us since October of last year (our things were initially picked up on July 27th, 2021). Here is a summary of our experience: -- Contacted Ship Smart to move studio's worth of boxes (34), a couch, mattress, chair, and keyboard.
We were given an initial estimate. We were also ensured that our belongings would be shipped out and delivered within 4-5 weeks. -- The boxes and furniture were picked up on July 27, 2021. Afterward, we did not receive any communication until we called them on August 16, 2021 to check on our delivery. We were told that they could contact us back at the end of the week to let us know when our belongings would be shipped and that it was not palletized at the time of the call. -- We received no callback and we reached out again that same week only to be given the answer that it would be the next Wednesday (08/25/21) that we would have the final weight and cost. -- The day came and went without a callback, so we reached out again multiple times over the remainder of the week (08/25-27) and kept hearing the same update -- that it is not palletized nor ready and we could expect a call back next week. -- Again, silence from Ship Smart for the following week (08/30 - 09/03) except when we initiated the calls.
No direct answers, only "let me check with the warehouse and get back to you." We never received a callback once. On 09/10/21, we called once again to try and escalate the situation even more. -- A couple of decent days passed with communication (09/13-15), but then no more updates from Ship Smart. We received a communication explaining that our partial shipment (large furniture) was to be delivered the next week on the week of 09/20-24. -- The following week, we received our couch (damaged and missing pieces), office chair, mattress, and a few art pieces on 09/29/21.
We called three times between 09/30 - 10/01 but no answer or callback until late 10/01. -- We received a call to say that our stuff might have been shipped with another order (didn't directly confirm that this was the case). -- They confirmed that they could not find our boxes and that they had discovered they had been lost for a while. We were not once alerted to this fact, even though we had been calling them numerous times. -- We (as of 1/3/22) still have yet to receive our 34 boxes.

Worst shipping experience ever! DO NOT USE! Shipping took over 5 weeks to deliver and upon delivery, all boxes were crushed, all furniture was broken, family heirlooms were destroyed. Ship Smart was not interested in helping to resolve this and just told us to file with insurance. No apologies or effort to make this right. They did not ship as advertised. Details were left out on this review due to the enormous amount of issues encountered. I highly recommend using ANY other company if you value your stuff and time.

I'm updating my review here. Once I left a 1-star review, they hopped into action. All of my items arrived well-packed and they didn't price gouge me. Thus far I have only found one minor piece of damage on a very fragile item, shivh can be easily fixed. Had I received my shipment in a timely manner, this would have been 4 stars. Had I been given appropriate customer service from the staff, it would have been 5.

From the time I called to inquire about their service to the final delivery day, I was so happy with everyone I encountered by phone and in person. I moved from Berkeley Ca. to Brooklyn NY. I moved a new full size bed and 19 boxes. The 2 gentlemen that can for pick up were wonderful.
They were so professional and respecful of my things. I felt confident I made the right choice. I was notified of the delivery date, was asked if that day would work for me. They called me that morning to confirm time of arrival. The 2 gentlemen from the New Jersey warehouse were just as wonderful as the pick up staff. My bed and frame came boxed so were well protected.
They too were very professional and respectful of my things. I had contacted the office a couple of times to inform them of a few changes from the original estimate and everyone was so helpul and accomodating. The total cost of the move was so reasonable. I had 2 large moving companies do an in home estimate for this size move and they both recommended Ship Smart. I saved $6,000.00+ using Ship Smart. If you want to ship smart, please avoid this company! (I am recounting my sister's experience here!) After much frustration, my furniture arrived 6 weeks late, with most of it damaged and or warped. The company is very difficult to get in touch with! I was told that the initial estimate over the phone would be adjusted after they weighed my furniture, which was no where near 1000 pounds, but the estimate remained the same! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a moving company! If I could give this company minus stars, I would!

I hired them for a small shipment cross country. What a mistake. Unbeknownst to me, they hired a 3rd party called Ceva Home Delivery to actually do the delivery. Ceva eventually called me from an "unknown" number, and it was a machine meant to schedule a delivery window. I had to google the company to even realize it was "legit, " since I'd never heard of them and they certainly were not the company I hired, nor did the machine have any specifics about my order.
I scheduled a window via the machine and moved my schedule around to accommodate. The window came and went. This was almost a month ago. I still don't have my delivery, which includes priceless family photos and heirlooms. Ceva's number does not ever pick up. Ever. I submitted a request through their website, nothing. I have talked to FIVE people from Ship Smart on different occasions.
All five promised to get back to me same day. Zero of the five got back to me. I am not certain I will ever get my things.all my late father's photos he took. We had some pieces that were left to us by our mother who recently passed away. We were out of state and some of the pieces were heirlooms. We had no way to transport them and this company was referred to us by a moving company as it was a small load. It is a hard time when a family member is gone and they made it easier on us. Carly especially, was available when I needed help or information.
I recommend that you get a list of what you need moved and make it as complete as possible before you ask for an estimate. It was easy to set up, but the website is not easy to navigate to add items. Bottom-line, they charge based on weight. So unless it is an expensive item you want to insure, it won't matter. Hopefully, you are more organized than I was!

I had a very sub-par experience with this company. The communication is horrible and they move extremely slow. I was charged almost $2,000 more than the original estimate and was told by one of the operators (Emily) that this was my fault. Thankfully, I spoke with the first empathetic and professional in the company (Ana Mayer). She was very nice and completely understood where I was coming from. She ended up refunding me some of the money that I was overcharged and explained the why behind everything. If it wasn't for Ana, Shipsmart would be getting 1 star from me.

I moved from texas to nyc using shipsmart, and even through it all Nick the GM of shipsmart was super accommodating and was in touch throughout the entire moving process to make sure everything from move to destination went smoothly. Nick also went above and beyond to make sure everything was settled post-destination move. All in all, a great experience, kudos to Nick and team.

Find an alternative if you are moving furniture. Even if you provide the weight of the items, they quote with no packaging cost. The packaging weight was more than the items I shipped; a 60" round wooden pedestal table with four side chairs. So the final price was nearly double. It would have been more than double if I had not asked them to prove the shipping weight because they told me it weighed 800 lbs and would cost 1900$.
They then sent me a picture on the scale and the weight was now 639 lbs. They packaged these items in an enormous crate 88x44x63". Once they have your stuff, your stuck because you can't control the way they package it and they don't estimate the packaging cost at all. Even if you want to have another carrier, you have to pay a cancellation, and then youre still stuck with the packaging that you didn't expect.
You would think after so many years in business they could provide better information on costs to ship ordinary items of known dimensions. I felt scammed and will never use ShipSmart again. Hindsight is 20/20

I sent a family heirloom marble table, paid for you to pack it and crate it and it was delivered scratched and gouged. It had to be done with some force with a tool and it looks like the tabletop was rolled because there are so many scratches. Fortunately it was insured but that won't help with the emotional damage to our prized piece.

Reliable, honest, friendly, professional! Moved my daughters things from CA to NY. When we were unable to meet the truck due to Covid 19 they offered to hold her things and even matched the price of our storage unit. After 3 months we were finally ready and they sent the truck to arrive on the date we requested. Everything was packed beautifully. They even labeled fragile items (mirror etc.) which helped greatly in the unpacking process! In this stressful time of quarantine, ShipSmart gave me no extra stress about this untimely move. I used Shipsmart to move a bunch of boxes from NYC to AZ. I was referred to them by another mover bc my load was on the smaller side. I dealt with Robert in the beginning with my quote and Trish from the moment it left NY. The quote part was very organized and as I kept changing things they remained extremely professional and helpful. When my items were picked up, without incident, they contacted me when it was weighed and gave me my final price.
Then Trish took over and gave me a time line for the trip cross country and how it would work once it got to AZ. Everything happened as described. The items were delivered and there was some damage to boxes and one small furniture item but Trish stayed on top of it and never left me hanging. My calls and emails were responded to in a timely manner and I never felt left out in the cold.
She was patient and kind with me, bc I was a little emotional, and worked WITH me, not against me on finding a solution. I was more than impressed and it helped make this much less painful. Everything was resolved to my liking and it was done with decorum. Moving is a tough business where it's rarely perfect from start to finish but Shipsmart worked with me when there was a problem and that is the kind of company I want to work with. Thank you Trish for all of your hard work. I appreciate it more than you know.

UPDATE (9/12/2019): Ship Smart's owner, John, reached out to me in September 2018 after learning more about my dissatisfaction in the service I received in May 2018. We weren't able to connect last September, but John reached out again recently and made it clear that he wanted to make things right with me. I talked with John over the phone about my experience and the issues I outlined in my initial review. John made it clear that there were mistakes made by his team and he apologized for the inconvenience and cost I had to experience as a result.
To make up for it, John compensated me for those costs. Furthermore, he offered to personally overlook any shipments I may need for future relocations. I have updated my initial 1-star review to 5-stars in light of John's good faith gesture and will look to use Ship Smart again for future relocations.

Customer service agents are very professional and helpful. Our estimate ended up being much higher than quoted so we spoke with the operations manager and the price was returned to a reasonable amount. They do seem committed to customers having a good experience so I recommend speaking to the manager with any concerns because she's great!

I started out being a bit dismayed with the amount of time it took for Shipsmart to move my 1-Br apartment from California to Virginia but after I complained to them, the owner/partner called me and worked things out by offering me a refund for a month's delay that cost me in rent at temporary housing. My goods were picked up on December 3 and delivered on January 18.
I was upset at first but after the phone call from the owner of the company and his professionalism, I was pacified. I have moved a lot over the years and have never had a "great" move ever. All things considered, I do recommend Shipsmart due to their professionalism. If I were you, I would just make sure that my stuff does not sit in a warehouse for a month. I had a realistic idea of how much stuff I had and was able to communicate with shipsmart very clearly. I should mention It weighed A LOT more than I would have guessed if I hadn't weighed it all myself. The quote that I was given was accurate. I chose to pay 250 dollars extra to have them bring the boxes into my new house rather than drop off the crate, and that seemed well worth it.
My stuff all arrived in about 3.5 weeks. EVERYTHING was in perfect shape, including my fragile, home built desktop computer (yeah I'm a total total nerd whatevs) and the accompanying monitor. The movers on both ends were fun to chat with, fast, and courteous. Shipsmart communicated clearly and promptly whenever I reached out. It cost me about $1700 to move across the country when no other mover quoted me less than 3k. I was super concerned due to some of the crappy reviews they get, but this worked out really well for me, and I'd use shipsmart again.

I had a good experience with Ship Smart. If you can be flexible with the arrival date of your items (I go into this in more detail below), I would recommend them highly. I recently moved from California to Washington, D.C. with a studio's worth of furniture. Price: Reasonable, and the final price was close to the initial quote. Ship Smart was one of the cheapest quotes I received. Pick-up and delivery: The crew that picked up my stuff in San Francisco was prompt and professional.
The same can be said for the crew that delivered my stuff to Washington, D.C and moved it into my new apartment. All of my items arrived in perfect condition. Customer service: Ship Smart was easy to get a hold of and their representatives are professional and very competent. Delivery time: This is the only reason I'm giving Ship Smart four stars instead of five.
I was told that typically deliveries took 2-3 weeks from pick-up day to delivery day. My delivery took exactly 6 weeks. With that said, I looked back at the paperwork, and it did clearly state that transit times were not guaranteed. I felt that Ship Smart wasn't entirely straightforward in their delivery time estimation, and I do believe that they should set a maximum delivery time (even if it's 6-7 weeks) to hold themselves to some sort of time-constrained accountability, and so that people know what to expect.
The same can be said for the crew that delivered my stuff to Washington, D.C and moved it into my new apartment. All of my items arrived in perfect condition. Delivery time: This is the only reason I'm giving Ship Smart four stars instead of five.
I was told that typically deliveries took 2-3 weeks from pick-up day to delivery day. My delivery took exactly 6 weeks. With that said, I looked back at the paperwork, and it did clearly state that transit times were not guaranteed. I felt that Ship Smart wasn't entirely straightforward in their delivery time estimation, and I do believe that they should set a maximum delivery time (even if it's 6-7 weeks) to hold themselves to some sort of time-constrained accountability, and so that people know what to expect.

When Wade Odell Wade couldn't (or wouldn't) move us, they pushed us off to ShipSmart who made everything sound like sunshine and rainbows when they were selling my mom on their company. They told my mom that the move would take 2-4 weeks. It has now been over five weeks since ShipSmart's subcontractor picked up our belongings and we don't have anything.
My mom called ShipSmart for an update and the representative she spoke with told her the warehouse they subcontracted to wasn't open, but that he would call her first thing the next business day morning. He never called. My mom called back and got Mitch who told us that he did not have an update on our move, but would contact the warehouse and find out what's going on.
He called back the next day to tell us that the warehouse would be palletizing our belongings and ShipSmart's Operations Department would have an update on July 27th. We've heard nothing. We called back and Mitch said that they would be palletizing our belongings and would provide an update, which sounded familiar and is now, clearly, an empty promise that this company makes to get customers off the phone.
We told Mitch that we had to buy beds, among other things, because ShipSmart took so long to deliver and asked if they could pull the beds out of the shipment and give them to someone if someone needs them. After telling us the shipment had not been palletized yet, Mitch wanted to charge us over $100 to remove the mattresses because the shipment had been palletized. Needless to say, after the lack of communication and contradictions in communications like that one, I no longer have any trust in this company.
Given my experience, I am not surprised to find awful reviews of ShipSmart online and to find that ShipSmart was sued in 2010. I really hope we just get all of our belongings undamaged because, although I'm sure I currently have a legal claim for the length of time they've taken and the thousands of dollars I'm out buying replacement items for my belongings that should already be here, I - ultimately - want my belongings. And, I want to be the customer of a company who cares about more than the money their customers represent, which ShipSmart - obviously - doesn't.
Save yourself the heartache we're dealing with and use another mover or shipper. ShipSmart does not deliver when promised (if ever. we'll see); ShipSmart does not communicate adequately with their customers; ShipSmart does not keep their promises. This is not a way to run a business and this is not a way to treat paying customers. I'll update this review when we get (or don't get) our belongings and I'll let you know if ShipSmart makes us whole for the delay and, possibly, for the loss of our belongings (I really hope they haven't lost our shipment because the replaceable items will cost money to replace and some of it is irreplaceable).
My mom has been a Registered Nurse for 42 years and would never treat a patient like this company has treated us. If she did, the consequences could be dire. I'm an Attorney and I would never treat my clients the way this company has treated us. What a shame.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE. My partner and I moved to Germany and needed to move 8 boxes. We were quoted 1600 for delivery to the curb to our Germany address. A week after they picked up our boxes, they told us it would be $3400 to ship them. I asked why, and they said it's too big because of the extra item we wanted to ship. I said alright well remove the extra item, I'll have someone pick it up and I'll just have them sell it for me.
Another week goes by and they say ok well we repackaged it and made it smaller and its going to be $2800, and it won't make any difference if you remove the extra item or not. (still a huge difference in price from the original quote which was based on the square footage). We agreed as we were already in germany and wanting our stuff. After that, the real fun started.
I won't type out all of the details, but we wound up calling multiple different parties EVERY DAY SEVERAL TIMES A DAY trying to get things moving. Our items were stuck in customs for weeks because nobody was willing to take the initiative to contact the other parties in germany to give them the correct information. We were originally quoted 6-8 weeks, it took 4 months.
We would call and leave messages, and be told we would get a call back and never get one. We would CC emails to everyone involved, and the people at shipsmart / pacific crating and shipping (the larger international shipping company that is somehow a part of shipsmart) and they were absolutely incapable of hitting the reply all button. I felt like I was dealing with absolute children.
They are lazy, and will lie to your face. Emily Vokos was the original person who arranged the details originally, COMPLETELY IGNORED all of our other attempts to contact her after she received our payment. We sent multiple emails that garnered no response. Nael (and coworkers at pacific crating and shipping) was incompetent at fulfilling a simple task of hitting the reply all button to the emails we sent to all of the parties involved in an effort to solve the obvious communication issues. TLDR: if you're wanting to ship some stuff internationally, save yourself the time and effort unless you feel like babysitting high school drop outs over the phone.

Update: They made an effort to resolve the issue and compensated for the damages. Initially they gave me an estimate and a service for moving a long couch, three tables, and a chair. Then, after knowing about what items I needed shipped, they told me that they could no longer provide me the service. So to start, I should've known better. The crew they hired to pick up my items were disinterested in handling it with care.
I was PROMISED that my items were going to be handled properly and with care, and placed into crates and taken out of the crates upon delivery. The only thing that was in a crate was the couch, the rest was in plastic wrap bundle of crap. (See pictures). I would never recommend this company to ANYONE. I am amazed they even have 3 stars.
